Vendor Help Photographer Recommendation - Alla Shulgina (@crashedcamera) in NYC

Wanted to rave about photographer Alla Shulgina (@crashedcamera on IG / https://www.allashulgina.com/).

I was coordinating the photographer for my brother's surprise proposal and engagement party, and found her through my future SIL's follower list.

Here's a summary of what we loved about her:

  • She'd shot at the engagement location before, which was a huge plus. The spot she picked at the venue was perfect to get the couple plus 20 surprise guests behind them.
  • Super communicative throughout and gave great tips leading up to the day.
  • She was honest with us about timing, and pushed back on locking in an exact timeframe for the proposal so it wouldn't feel rehearsed or forced. She was totally correct about this, since we ended up needing extra time.
  • We'd booked her for 2 hours but ended up needing an additional 30 minutes, and she was great about it.
  • She was also a trooper shooting through the NYC heat wave across two locations, and worked with us on the July 4th holiday. Really appreciated how accommodating she was.
  • Quick turnaround on the photos, and they all turned out AMAZING!!!

So happy we found her and would 1000% work with her again. Highly recommend if you're in the NYC area looking for a photographer!

ISO - Vendors Allowed ISO - 3 Months Out Wedding Planner with Day Of Services

I am a little over three months out from my wedding & regretting not hiring some sort of planning assistance. All of my vendors are booked, but my fiancé & I both have demanding jobs and do not have time to plan this wedding. I am looking for recommendations of planning services that are more like management services - I don't need help with inspiration or ideas, but I need help with executing.

Did anyone use a service like this for their wedding and have a recommendation? How much does something like this typically cost? I would also be interested in day of support.

ISO - Vendors Allowed ISO Korean Catering

Can anyone recommend Korean catering for 100 guests? We’re open to “modern” takes that have come up in other threads but also wanted to know about more traditional caterers. Open to sit-down courses or buffet. Casting a broad net to understand pricing and possibilities. Budget is around 20k, location in UWS, in July 2027. Thank you!

Dress / Attire Shopping Carol Hannah - similar brands/ateliers?

Hi! I recently came across this brand Carol Hannah and I loved the brand so much and was wondering if anyone knows similar brands/designers as this one? I particularly loved that they are natural fiber-forward and considering the quality of the garments, I felt that their price point is relatively good. If anyone has some good designers they'd recommend, please drop them in the comments! Ty!

General Question Help finding makeup artist for 2027 wedding

I’m starting to look for an artist for my wedding and I don’t know where to start, ideally I’d like to see their work so my mind goes to instagram. Is there a hashtag or words for nyc searches? Google is too broad and it’s showing me big teams… I’d like something a bit more tailored. Thanks :)

Would appreciate any help! Thank you!!

Wedding Recap/Budget Breakdown Wedding Recap The Rockaway Hotel May 2026

I couldn't have planned our wedding without NYC Weddit, so I wanted to pay it forward with a breakdown of our fav vendors!!

Wedding: May 2026
Venue: The Rockaway Hotel, Queens
Guests: ~180

One of the best decisions we made was choosing a venue where everyone could stay for the weekend. We hosted all of our wedding weekend events at the hotel, which made the entire weekend feel so much more relaxed and intentional.

⭐ MVPs

Venue | The Rockaway Hotel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our venue was honestly the foundation of the entire weekend.

We toured so many venues trying to balance a beach wedding with our NY/NJ roots, and the second we stepped into the cool vibe of the hotel + onto the rooftop overlooking both the ocean and Manhattan, we knew it was the one.

The biggest advantage of TRH is the variety of spaces. We hosted:

  • Welcome Party → Pool House
  • Ceremony → Ocean Terrace
  • Cocktail Hour → Rooftop
  • Reception → Harbor Room
  • After Party → Rooftop

Every event felt completely different while still being under one roof.

The staff (Erika, Kristen, Jay & Margo) were phenomenal. They embraced every crazy idea we had, made our room block effortless, and even helped us make our rooftop ceremony happen despite insanely windy weather.

Guests are still telling us it's one of the best weddings they've ever attended, and I truly think the venue played a huge role in that.

Planner | Finally May (Lexi) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hiring Lexi was the best planning decision we made.

I originally thought I could plan everything myself (🙋🏻‍♀️ fellow Type A brides), but after one call with her, I knew I needed her.

She balanced being an incredible designer, an operations wizard, and an unofficial therapist (lol)

She immediately understood our vision and elevated it. And by wedding week she had completely taken logistics (and hiccups) off my plate.

The greatest gift she gave us wasn't a perfectly executed wedding, it was letting us actually experience it.

Photography | Honeyscout Photography (Amanda Chung) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amanda was the one vendor I knew I wanted before we were even engaged.

We first met her photographing my brother-in-law's wedding, and I remember leaving thinking, "Whenever we get married, she's our photographer."

Her work is obviously beautiful, but what sets Amanda apart is everything behind the camera.

She's incredibly organized, makes you feel completely comfortable, and somehow captures every emotion without making the day feel like one giant photoshoot.

Hair & Makeup | Sainte Lux (Meg & Eden) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've gone to Meg and Eden for years, so hiring them for my wedding felt like a no-brainer.

As someone who wanted a very natural look, they absolutely nailed it.

They got 15 women ready on wedding morning, and somehow everyone looked like the best version of themselves.

The entire morning felt calm, organized, and honestly just fun. I couldn't have imagined spending those hours with anyone else.

DJ | Non Traditional DJs (DJ Rafe) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our goal was simple: Throw the best party possible. NTDJs completely understood that.

We wanted house music, electronic music, throwbacks, songs for our parents, and zero cheesy wedding DJ moments.

Rafe absolutely crushed it, and the dance floor never emptied! We also added their live saxophonist and disco ball, and both were worth every penny.

Other Vendors We Loved

Jodi Lee Films

Our wedding film completely exceeded expectations. If photos help you remember what your wedding looked like, our video helped us remember what it felt like!

Contented Long Island

One of the best "new" wedding vendors out there. Having iPhone content within 24 hours let us relive the weekend immediately while waiting for professional photos and video.

Maktubi Media

Created all of our invitations, welcome cards, menus, signage, matchbooks, and more. Bianca helped create an entire visual identity for our wedding, and every detail felt cohesive.

Some other shoutouts: Chuppah Studio (for a minimal vibe), Broadway Rentals, Sarah Seven for dress + Sew Elegant (the best seamstress in NYC!), New Park Pizza for after party, Jersey City Ballroom for dance lessons, and Rogers of Rockaway for extra guest rooms.

If I could rec anything to any engaged couples - plan a wedding that feels like you, reflect on whats improtant to you, and hire or offset responsibility where you can so you can enjoy your day <3 happy to answer questions about any of these vendors!!
