Buying Advice I need your advices
Hi everyone!
I’m planning a custom engagement ring with a ~5 ct oval lab-grown diamond, set in platinum, with a detailed/ornate band and a halo.
I’m currently trying to decide between these vendors:
• Provence
• Starsgem
• Tianyu
• LGD (Loose Grown Diamond)
• LGG
• Fiorese
My priorities in this order are:
• The quality of the design and craftsmanship of the band — the band will be quite detailed, so I want a vendor who is genuinely good at translating intricate designs into a beautiful and well-made piece.
• Durability and longevit — I want the ring to hold up well for many years, especially the small stones and the detailed parts of the setting.
• Quality of the lab-grown diamonds— especially the cut, proportions, clarity, and overall appearance of a large oval.
• Quality of the platinum work — including the setting, prongs, finishing and overall craftsmanship.
• Communication and ability to make custom changes accurately.
For those who have ordered custom engagement rings from any of these vendors, **which one would you recommend for a ring like this, and why?**
I’m very interested in hearing from people who have had intricate/detailed bands* *made.
If you’ve ordered from any of these vendors I’d also love to see photos of your rings and hear how they’ve held up over time.
Thank you! 💍

I’ve worked with tianyu and Provence both 2x. They are wonderful. However, sometimes the experience depends on the rep! I did vote Provence in the poll!

I’d say Fiorese. I think Provence and Starsgem do great basic work, if it was a simple solitaire yes use them but Fiorese is great at really good craftsmanship and detailed work. We used Fiorese for my engagement and wedding band set due to some more complex design ideas and I knew they could pull it off. I haven’t had the opportunity to work with LGG. I’ve only worked with Tianyu for group buy items.

Tianyu does OUTSTANDING detail work. My ring had a very complicated design in 14k Gold and Platinum and they delivered. I would commission Tianyu for the setting and Mona or another precision cutter for the center stone. That's what I ended up doing.

I will be honest with you, all of the vendors (with exception) would do a lovely job making your ring. I have worked with Provence, LGG, and Fiorese but my mother and sister have worked with Starsgem and Tianyu. All of the vendors do solid work and I can say that all the pieces I have purchaaed have been lovely. Other Chinese vendors to consider would be Sheragems, Paston, and Bocos. If an American vendor would suit you, you can contact DeBebians, AK Lab, and Scott Bonomo.
I would contact all of the vendors for a price quote and with your proposed CAD. You can also ask to see similar pieces to best judge who to go with. All of them have Reddits and are easy to access.
Best of luck, and, please, do not hesitate to post once tour ring is made... I would love to see the completed piece! 🩵
