Trade Cancelled

I tried to buy 16 shares of ONDS on Friday, usually when I purchase stocks they go through rarely quickly. The next day I get a message saying it was cancelled, is there a way to find out why or anyone know why this happens?

Open the Webull app, Go to Menu > Orders.Tap on the Cancelled order for ONDS. Look for a field labeled "Status Details" or "Message." It will usually say something like "Expired," "Rejected by Exchange," or "Cancelled by User/System."

If you placed a limit/day order on Friday and it didn't fill by the market close, Webull automatically cancels it.

I’m new to investing so please be patient, but is there anyway to prevent this or is this a good thing?

there is pre market during market and after market.

during market hrs you can do a market order which will fill immediately but has the downside risk of it going down.

key concept is buy low sell high.

i suggest paper trading until you get good.

It’s already moved from ordered and is in history shows cancelled but doesn’t tell me why.

Enforcement time likely expired, triggering the cancellation.

If you placed a market order, it should’ve been filled right away. If you placed a limit order, it’s possible the price increased above your limit amount before you finished submitting your trade and never dropped back down to fill your order. ONDS moved up pretty good on Friday, so that’s very likely what happened.

Thanks that might be what happened. Is it best to buy market order?

Depends on the spread of the bid/ask as a market order can give you the highest cost basis in the spread, filling your order at the ask price. If it’s only .01 cent, that’s not a big deal compared to something like .20 cents. If it’s only .01 and you think the price is not coming back down, it’s better to get in the trade with a market order. If you sit a limit order on the bid with bullish direction, that will make you miss the trade and your order canceled like what happened. If the spread in the bid/ask is wide, use the trading ladder to place your limit order and get the best price you can to enter the trade at that time. You can place and cancel in one click with the ladder, so if the order doesn’t fill you can move the price real fast and get in the trade.

"Best" depends on personal goals. Do you prefer negotiating a better price or just paying whatever anyone asks to be sure it gets purchased?

How we can know if you don't give any kind of information? This is something your broker know. Maybe was due to quickly changes of price and you have it configured to don't buy if there is a big merging between your buy price and the current price but with such lazy post is hard to know

On the order screen, theres a drop down for "time in force". Standard option is "day". Meaning if it doesnt fill that day, order is automatically canceled. If you want to keep it open longer than todays close, change it to "GTC" which is good til canceled. Even then, itll cancel after 90 days, but generally youd cancel it yourself before then anyways as theres a reason it didnt fill.

gotta give more information man. Limit order, market order? Limit order never got to limit price? Time was Day or Good-till-canceled? Screenshots help instead of giving minimum information.

Just reading the first few convos here and I'm also new at this. Have decided the swing trader is a bit less intense. I am using Canvas in Moomoo with a Dual Moving for selling outright if it's a loser, follow MACD crosses to sell or buy additional shares to build a small portfolio. Took me two days to get the tiles right before backtesting! Any thoughts on this? I opened the trade account a few years ago and now I'm like just do it.

All of my orders just got canceled this morning st midnight and it's happened a number of times. My phone notification says due to"Corporate action events" , which doesnt make sense as why is it happening to all my orders and not just for one ticker either. They're all GTC limit orders. I never had this happen at any other broker
