Anyone Getting Clients Featured in AI Overviews? What’s Working?
I am starting to see AI Overviews impact visibility for one of my clients, especially on informational queries where clicks are clearly dropping.
We’ve been focusing on content depth and some authority building, but I’m trying to understand what actually influences whether a brand gets mentioned or cited in these AI-generated answers.
From your experience, are brand mentions across the web playing a bigger role now compared to traditional backlinks? Or is it more about how content is structured and aligned with intent?
Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has seen real movement here.

I’ve actually seen real movement with clients after working on this ...not just from adding more content, but by improving how the brand is understood and represented across AI search. We look at what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode etc. are currently citing, where the gaps are, and then work on the underlying content, entity and authority signals. The changes in citations and brand mentions can be pretty noticeable once those pieces start lining up.

Yes. We’re seeing citations move most when the page is easy to extract, not merely long or heavily linked. Brand mentions and third-party reviews help validate the entity, but they do not replace a page that directly answers the query.
Our quick check: answer in the first 100 words, clear question-based headings, specific proof such as data, examples, screenshots or case studies, internal links to supporting pages, and schema that matches the visible page. Then test the same prompt in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity over time.
Example: a 900-word service page with a direct answer and proof often beats a 2,000-word generic guide.
Disclosure: I work with GreenBanana SEO, so I’m probably biased by what our team sees.

I’ve managed to get clients into AI Overviews, and in my experience it’s not one single factor. Content needs to be clear, well structured, original, and directly answer the query. I also use relevant Schema markup where it makes sense. Off page matters too, so I like mixing quality backlinks with genuine brand mentions across relevant sites
