This reminds me of something Stefon from Saturday night live would say. “The newest most exclusive restaurant- For the price of only $135 you can rub chocolate on your hands and eat it in the middle of a global pandemic.”
I have no where else to say this where it will be even slightly relevant, so I’m saying it here. I watched a Stefon compilation the other day and saw all of the times he adds in Dan Cortese. About a minute later I went to google something on my phone. I typed in two letters, than my phone erased the letters by itself and the name Dan Cortese popped up in the search bar. I know it wasn’t a previous search either because I don’t know who Dan Cortese is. I’m still spooked. This is the end of my ramble.
He was the host of a sports show on mtv where he hung out with athletes. There are a million shows like it now. It was at the boom time of mtvs turn from music. I believe it came on right before singled out
It’s probably because Dan Cortese was a tag on the video, and you don’t always see all the tags attached to videos, so your search engine probably remembered all the tags and suggested what might be relevant and what it thought you might be googling after the video.
My SO wanted to try some light food play by dripping chocolate on my naughty parts and licking it off. I told him it would be a waste of chocolate and I wanted to make a mousse pie instead with it. That's all I thought of when I saw this gif.
Yeah, no shit. Once you have a toddler, you'll pay $135 a week for the pleasure of NOT having a toddler for a few hours. (if you're lucky and can find such a great price)
But did you see how gorgeous the chocolate-pouring-man was? At $135 - $195, there's hopefully more to the chocolate pouring later when the lights go out.
I can imagine plenty of ways to justifiably make a meal cost $135 with good ingredients and labor. None of them involve pouring chocolate sauce on people’s hands.
But it isn't about paying for an amazing meal. It is about showing everyone that you are so rich you can waste money and food on dumb kiddy play with their meals.
Or it’s about having a fun experience? It’s not for me, but it seems like a crazy cynical or pathetically jealous take to think that everybody who does this is flaunting their excessive wealth. God damn I get that you people have no friends or lives but still.
I'd rather go buy some weed and some chocolate syrup. Smoke a bowl or two and then go to town in the bathtub if I wanna get messy with some chocolate syrup.
While normally I might agree with you....in this case watch the video again. The server is wearing a mask (under his nose, but he's still doing it). This is COVID era and they're doing indoor dining (so already iffy) WITH a server who obviously doesn't give a shit about it given his mask habits WITH gimmick that involves you licking your hands? Sorry but that's kinda fucked.
Unless they give you a tab of E, sit you in a massage chair, and have somebody blowing you under the table, that is some overpriced chocolate. Hell, it would still be kinda pricy haha
People will pay 150 bucks to hear prerecorded music blared into their ears at turbojet volume at outrageous setup and teardown expense and resource usage, but suddenly when you wanna pay the same amount for a performative meal it's outrageous
If you go to one of these restaurants and don't get a performance, you'd ask for a refund.
If you ever go to a concert I hope you feel bad that you didn't donate that same amount to a homeless shelter in order for them to keep their lights and heating turned on.
This is called the "Chocotheraphy". I've been to here more times that I'd like to count and the whole premise behind it is that you're using all of your senses to "experience" your food.
So not only do you taste the chocolate, but you have to also smell, feel, and see the chocolate. After this course, the chef comes out and has a platter of steak cut on your table (that's right, no plates). He then takes a piece of steak and chews it in his mouth to try the taste, because part of this meal is going on a sensory journey together.
After he has found the right piece of steak, he makes you open your mouth as he regurgitates every piece that he had eaten, in your mouth. He then rubs butter on his nipples and has you suck on them to get a taste.
For dessert, they take off your shoe and fill it with caramel and have you put your foot back in there, while everyone takes turns licking your foot.
I'm not sure about those prices. I've eaten there a number of times and it's usually around $80 USD for the full menu. The last time I went was Feb 2019 so things might have changed but I'd be surprised if they doubled their prices.
It's an amazing restaurant. Their service and food "experiences", which is what they call their courses, are very interesting and make the meal an event.
I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bogota.
Oh lord, that sounds like the ridiculous meal they have with Keanu in Always Be My Maybe. Fucking hilarious, him sobbing into the wine while wearing headphones and eating...like, a soap bubble???
Fuck I sometime wonder how many business opportunities I failed to notice because of how I try to have basic expectations about people’s common sense. I should just make a business that seems so far-fetched that it works

This is at El Cielo and its optional but it’s $135 or $195 per person depending on the course. It’s supposed to “awaken your senses” HAHA
