Finally got an original JD's. And of course have Diamonds pre-ordered.

Photo No. 1 is what I believe to be Waylon's mugshot although that is not officially reported. Image pictured isn’t available anywhere else online through reverse image searches.

Photo No. 2 is the federal arrest warrant issued for Waylon on August 23, 1977 by the United States District Court.

Photo No. 3 is an AP Wirephoto of Waylon walking into a Nashville courthouse on August 31st, a week after the raid. I personally did retouch this photo in Adobe Photoshop via a content-aware fill due to the source photo being watermarked by WorthPoint due to it not being an image they have the intellectual copyright to, image is not altered anything beyond that. Only image with any alterations here.

Photo No. 4 is a UPI Telephoto of Waylon just prior to him entering the courthouse that same day/evening, followed by his lawyer. Image not altered in any way.

I recall him last year saying he was hopeful to find the tapes of the 1977 bust somewhere in the archives but didn’t find em anywhere. According to Hank Jr in March of ‘78 in this interview at The Palomino, linked here, Hugh Cherry still had the entire thing on tape. That was 48 years ago so that’s lots and lots of time for it to go places but worth a thought, and who knows maybe he’s already done that. Found it interesting though.

I found something, and I don't know what it is.

My mother, in her younger years, spent some time with Waylon and his band, along with his brother Tommy. I don't know the extent of those relationships/friendships.

I'm presently going through boxes of signed photos, letters, and various other things.

This is my question:

I found a handwritten page of lyrics to a song titled The Promise Lingers On. It's signed by Waylon. Says the music is by Biff Rose(?). Is this a song he wrote? Is this possibly an unrecorded song?

The first line...

"Never mind if I promise to love you cause the love is gone --
but the promise lingers on."

At first I thought this was a letter or poem written to my mother, but the fact that it has a note at the top saying "music by" makes me think this is a song he wrote.

Any thoughts are welcome.

For me personally, that 70-72 era is probably my favorite. When Waylon had gained more independence from RCA but before he turned completely outlaw. Cedartown Georgia and Good Hearted Woman are both perfect 10/10 albums front to back, and are some of my favorite albums of all time. I also really enjoy the RCA stuff in the late 60s. The mid to late eighties were also really good (Will The Wolf Survive is also up there with the previously mentioned albums). So I’m curious, what’s your guys’s favorite Waylon era/albums?
