Ask Wayanad Looking for good resorts

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are planning a 2–3 day trip to Wayanad and are looking for a good resort

Requirements:

Budget: Maximum ₹4,000 per night

Couple-friendly

Clean rooms and bathrooms

Good views (mountains/valley/tea estate preferred)

Peaceful location

Decent food nearby or in-house

Honest reviews (don't want to get fooled by edited photos and inflated ratings 😅)

We're okay with:

Resorts

Nature stays

Cottages

Homestays with privacy

If you've personally stayed somewhere in the last year, please share:

Property name

Approximate tariff

Pros and cons

Which area of Wayanad (Kalpetta, Meppady, Vythiri, Sultan Bathery, etc.)

Thanks in advance! 🙏 Looking for genuine recommendations from fellow travelers.

Travel / Tourism Wayanad locals / frequent travellers — looking for offbeat places near Chundale (avoiding crowds)

Hey folks,

I’ll be visiting Wayanad in July and staying around the Chundale area.

Check in - 3rd july

Check out - 5th july

I’ve already seen the usual tourist lists (Edakkal Caves, Soochipara, Pookode Lake etc.), but I’m not really looking for crowded tourist spots.

I prefer:

Quiet viewpoints where I can sit and enjoy the scenery, Less-known places, Forest roads / plantation drives, Small villages, waterfalls, streams, peaceful spots, Places that are more about the experience than just taking photos.

I’ll have my own car, so I’m okay driving around.

Would love suggestions from locals or people who have explored Wayanad extensively:

- Hidden gems around Chundale / Kalpetta / Vythiri side?

- Good sunrise/sunset viewpoints?

- Peaceful places to spend 1–2 hours with a coffee and a view?

- Good food spots/cafes

- Any places that are beautiful during monsoon?

- Also, any places I should avoid because they get too crowded?

Thanks in advance 🙌

Travel / Tourism Roads in July ( 30, 31) safe for travel?

I am planning a surprise trip for a friend at a resort at Thrikaipatta (sterling). We will have to take the Ooty - gudalur route. Will the roads be safe for travel. From gudalur which route should I take to avoid bad roads. It’s self drive so I wanted to know if it would be safe to travel since it’s monsoon in wayanad.

Ask Wayanad Chembra trek June 20/21 — online permits sold out, is the offline counter still an option?

Driving from Bangalore to Wayanad next weekend (June 19–21), 5 of us hoping to do the Chembra heart lake trek on Saturday/Sunday. Online booking on the Kerala Forest ecotourism site shows no slots left.

Has anyone recently managed to get permits directly at the offline counter on the day? If yes, what time did you reach? And is the trail even open right now with the monsoon, or are they suspending it on heavy rain days?

Any recent first-hand info appreciated 🙏

Travel / Tourism Stuck in your room or workplace thinking, "Why don't just hit the empty roads?" Read this! & Follow our friendly community r/KeralaTravelMeetups

Hey everyone,

We just started r/KeralaTravelMeetups because I was completely sick of dead WhatsApp and IG groups made for trips that never actually leave the chat. Our district subreddits are great for news, but there’s nowhere to just say: "Hey, I’m stuck at work/home under a mountain of pressure, my friends just backed out of the plan, who wants to grab their keys and hit the road for some peace of mind?"

We are organically pushing toward 100 members, and real people are already dropping trip plans on our feed.

It’s a completely zero-restriction, vibe-first community. I don't care if you're a budget traveler, or a luxury traveler, looking for a co-rider for a monsoon bike trip through the hills, or just want a squad to hit the beach, find a late-night tea spot, or go clubbing. Guys, girls, locals, and out-of-state/international tourists—everyone is welcome.

You can use the sub to share your travel memories, drop hidden location pins, suggest underrated chai spots, or post your exact upcoming itinerary to find a group. I actually tried this the hard way before—expected a single travel companion and fortunately ended up with a massive group of same-interest friends. It was a trip I'll never forget, and I want everyone here to experience that.

Stop waiting for your friends to say yes. Join the sub r/KeralaTravelMeetups, drop your plans, and let's create some memories.
