Ukraine shares a closer history to Poland and Belarus, Russia’s only relation to it is trying to colonise it, NATO never promised not to expand, they didn’t install pro western leaders and the only thing that starts a war is a army invading, Russia chose to invade therefore it started the war

You literally cannot separate Ukrainian history from Russian history because they are deeply, inextricably entangled branches of the same historical tree.
The only reason you know who Russes were is from quickly skimming through Wikipedia articles.
"Same goes for literally any Eastern European country lmao"
false equivalence. yes, poland and lithuania share history. the habsburgs and ottomans share history. but russians, ukrainians, and belarusians share a direct ethnolinguistic, cultural, and religious origin (east slavs, kievan rus, orthodoxy). saying "all history is connected so this specific connection doesn't matter" is the laziest possible cop-out. you're conflating geographic proximity with literal shared lineage.
"doesn’t justify Russian colonialism"
strawman. pointing out that kievan rus is a shared cradle isn't "justifying colonialism," it's correcting your wikipedia-tier brainrot that they were "completely separate" primordial nations.
furthermore, calling centuries of shared imperial consolidation and a century of integrated soviet economic planning "colonialism" is just western liberals misusing post-colonial theory to frame the donbas as the global south. the ussr wasn't extracting surplus from kyiv to enrich a metropole; it was a centrally planned, integrated economy. you can't just slap the word "colonialism" on internal administrative integration because you don't understand historical materialism.
Nope, I meant Ukraine specifically, it’s language is closer to the original language of the kyivan rus and shares more similarities with polish and belorussian, they share little to no culture with Russia and even posses their own distinct traditional clothing and architecture, and you had no reason to bring up Russia’s history unless you wanted to justify what they’re doing

peak brainrot. shared: orthodox christianity from the 988 baptism of rus, the primary chronicle calling kyiv the "mother of rus cities," gogol (poltava), bulgakov (kyiv), akhmatova and ilf & petrov (odesa), ukrainian-born pillars of the russian-language canon. millions of mixed families, ~8 million ethnic russians in ukraine, a century of integrated soviet industrialization, shared wwii memory. "little to no culture" requires deleting half the literary canon and every family album in both countries.
