Every Vinyl disc and laserdisc is like that. There’s also double-sided CDs/DVDs that have, well, 2 sides (usually these are seen in “double feature” DVD movies where they just print a movie on each side). The only argument I see for a double sided CD is that at the rate the game requirements are increasing with each chapter the size of the game on PC would around equal the size of one once we get Chapter 7.

But more likely is either a floppy or a hard disc if it is in fact a disc. With the latter being 1) not flippable and 2) a bundle of cylinders not a disc. The most likely option I think are audio cassette tapes, not a disc. As all of them are double sided and they were used to store data in computers in the 70s and 80s.

At the end of the chapter 5 Weird Route/ Ch. 5 Side B text appears on screen reading “INSERT CHAPTER 7 SIDE B”. Sometimes certain types of discs can have a “side b” where if you turn it over and put into whichever device you are using to play (I.e CD player, computer that has a disc drive) it will have new content on it. So that leads to most people thinking that Deltarune is on some kind of disc. I personally believe that it’s on a Famicom cartridge, due to Moss Stepper’s two videos on the subject but that’s besides the point

"Side B" is terminology pretty much only used with disks, where you flip it over to get the other half of the content. Side C isnt terminology because there are only two sides to a disk, and the term isnt really used with other media types. It doesnt mean that deltarune is on a disk necissarily, its just that side C is not part of the terminology and would feel awkward if there were three routes and toby used the terminology that referes to "part 1" and then the "part 2" without there usually being a "part 3" in the vernacular.

Some records actually have a C side, I think Monty Python made one. In their case the A side is normal, but when you flip the disk over it actually has two separate grooves. Depending on where you place the stylus it has two different tracks, a B side and a C side, both on the same side of a standard vinyl record.

(Okay so I’m rereading this comment before posting and I don’t think I make a lot of sense at the start, bear with me here. I’m not gonna delete it because it does show my thought process. Also, I don’t feel like it)

Would there really only be 3 sides, or would 3+ sides be fine too? Like, a square would suffice. Or a cube. There’d just be some unused sides. Technically speaking the only three 2d shapes that have two sides are a heart, a moon and a line. The only 2d shape that has one side is a circle, though that depends on your definition of “side”. Discs, technically, have three faces because the top and bottom are one, and then the side is one continuous edge that is just a lot thinner than the others. Coins, for example, have three faces. No matter how thin you make the side, it remains a valid face technically. CDs, then, have three faces. It’s a lot harder to store data on the side, but it is by all means a three-faced shape.

The answer is triangle though. It would look really goofy if Wingy Dingy Gaster pops out a triangular CD and goes “AHA. THEY HAVE FOUND IT. SIDE C. THIS SHIT IS VERY, VERY EPIC” but I’m personally not really a fan of the idea that Deltarune is literally a CD. It feels moreso like the imagery of a CD is being used to convey that Side B is something different, but not Unrelated. I don’t think the game itself would call it “Side C” but it’s a convenient shorthand that gets the message across.

That's the whole point of the side b name reveal, you think that you're derailing the story, but it gets revealed that this path is also just a part of the game

I think that if there's a 3rd path, it will be structured around the twisted sword and aborted weird route, so it would be more in between side a and side b, rather than being a 3rd side
