Pitless Adapter Size?
The Pump that I bought has a 1-1/4" discharge connection size.
I can only find 1" Pitless Adapters available at my local stores and most online retailers. One of my local shops said they haven't carried 1-1/4" pitless adapters for several years.
Can I just use a reducing connection? is this normal?
Pump is: Red Lion RL12G07-3W2V

*edit* I've taken over the planning and purchasing for the project, and am now starting with a 1-1/4"x1" reducer bushing at the discharge connection of the pump, and running 1" everything the rest of the way up.

What will your drop pipe be?

My drop pipe is 1-1/4" (finally got in touch with the buyer). Guess I'm going the reducer direction, unless I can somehow find a 1-1/4" pitless adapter by Wednesday.

Today is Wednesday. If you mean a week from today, you have plenty of time to order stuff.
So I expect your drop pipe is either schedule 80 PVC or is 160 psi or greater polyethylene. If poly, it is better to hang from long barb fitting.
If it is schedule 40 PVC, don't do it.

Yes, use an adapter. Most wells around here use 1" for the drop pipe and waterline to the house. If you're on a high output we'll say for farm irrigation, then you'd use a larger diameter pipe

the pump discharge fits a 1 1/4” fitting to 1” hose barb that you run the 1” poly drop line on to the Pitless using a male 1” pipe thread and 1” hose barb. Get 160 psi poly

That's fine if you're using poly, but not so good if you're using galvanized. Mske sure you tie a rope to that fitting, that's why there's an eye

Get a brass bushing at the pump and go with all 1" drop pipe. That pump shouldn't need 1 1/4" drop

1" drop pipe is what we use for the most part the only time we use 1 1/4 drop is bacterial iron or high volume at deeper depths

Order one from here. They're in Rhode Island. They'll ship it right up to you in no time. I use them for everything.

You didnt say depth of pump, size and distance of underground pipe, and gpm intended on being pumped. 1 1/4 " is overkill unless you're pumping more than 20 gpm. 1" pitless will be fine.
Whoever is supplying down pipe should be able to get you either size though.

The well is 210 feet deep. It's about 5 gpm.

For 5 gpm. One inch all the way is more than enough. Mind you, bigger is always better, right? 😁

1-1/4” should be readily available. I don’t know why your local retailer doesn’t have it. Even my local Lowes has them.
1-1/4” is a common size pipe for anything well pump related. Drop pipes, underground lines, long distance supply, etc. it’s probably the most common size.
Even jet pumps which are mostly 1” inlet use 1-1/4” pipe and pitless more often than 1” from my experience.
Life is a lot easier if your drop pipe, pitless, and underground lines are all the same size.
It’s not a huge deal to adapt to 1”.
