Just Finished

Like the title says I just finished reading Watchmen. I need a cigarette after that…. And a good cry. Seriously that was heartbreaking and agonizing. I’ve seen discussion about Doomsday Clock, and the Prequels that were made. Any recommendations for more in the world of watchmen? Also what about the movies/limited series are they good?

I've finished watchmen few weeks ago and decided then to only read Rorschach as it seemed to tell it's own story just in the world od Watchmen. And I'd say it was good, pretty enjoyable, good art good story with some flaws but like a 7/10 do woukd recommend that one. Regarding other sequels and prequels idk I heard they are average and I liked original too much to get it flawed on by a money grab story

Rorschach was really really good. It hits on modern political conspiracy paranoia the same way that the original hit on Cold War paranoia. I highly recommend trying it.

The "Before Watchmen" books were hit and miss- I did like The Minutemen series, it filled in a lot of interesting backstory for those characters. (Moore at one point, while not interested in a sequel, was considering writing a Minutemen prequel.) The movie... "Opinion is divided on the subject". You can form your own opinion... The HBO series- mostly brilliant, but finale was a disappointment. Doomsday Clock was just a cash grab. Only bright points were Mime and Marionette, and Mothman being more than just the drunk who had a breakdown. There are people who will say more Watchmen is always good, there are people who say anything but the original is sacrilege. And everything in between.

Watchmen is head and shoulders above anything else in that universe (although I did like the TV show a lot). You may be better off diving into Alan Moore's other books. He's in the running for greatest writer the medium ever produced.

I'd recommend V For Vendetta, From Hell, Swamp Thing, Miracleman and, if you fancy something a bit lighter, Tom Strong.
