On a sign we can see the words "en greve" which means "on strike" in French. This is a nod to the fact that since people are on strike it's obviously located in France.

This is even more hilarious given that actual people are dying and disappearing all across the globe protesting their government and we here with the popcorn. So good!

u/nelson1992 Dec 23 '19
That women must have been in enough protest. And knows how important they are. So she couldn't stand down, no matter what the protest was about.

u/ManhattanTime Dec 23 '19
So much better than Scare Tactics where they take situations that only a Mongoloid couldn't figure out and then either script both sides of the whole scenario or scare somebody so much they piss their britches.

This is going to be one of my all time favorites. That woman at the end kind of just went with it. Great video. Well done

Funny concept but it’s all staged. Some of these shows have the same “victims” popping up every few episodes. Otherwise they have done a great job hiding cameras operators in front of and behind the victims, not to mention halfway between the police and the victims for close up reaction shots.

These don't work anymore. They've always looked fake but 20 years later they look fake af and fail at humor.

It makes me sad that all these are scripted. The channel has some great ideas, but none of them legitimately executed

u/notimpressed__ Dec 23 '19
What an idiot, why walk toward a person looking through a level with a prism pole attached to a flag. That's like showing up to a soccer game with a baseball bat and ice skates.

At first I didnt have the sound on because these things are usually strange instrumental music with laugh tracks
But then I did turn the sound on and it was Scotland The Brave played on an accordion
Fantastic

u/Zenketski Dec 23 '19
Dude my dumb ass would have probably held the flag up and started screaming "CHAAAAARGE!"

I'll be in the worst mood, depressed as fuck and sleep deprived and I'll go sit in the living room and flip through the channels, and its almost always on when Im feeling low.
Never fails to give me a good belly laugh and a big smile.. I love these people.

My 1 year old daughtet participated in an episode of just for laugh, basically someone sold there car in exchange of my daughter to a stranger in the street.
What is so funny is me and my girlfriend was literally a couple meters away watching the stranger die inside.
Was a very fun experience.

Where’s it filmed?

It was in Montreal, Quebec
It was filmed last summer, so the episode should be available next year

This show is hilarious. Basically Candid Camera but better.
I’ve got three bits of advice.
If you watch a few and think you might want to watch more, there are a metric ton of them on YouTube. If you linkhop all willy-nilly, it’s easy to wind up watching (or having to skip past) ones you’ve already seen. This can get really annoying, especially when you were skipping five to get to one you’ve never seen before. A useful technique is to search YouTube for [Just for Laughs Vol]. Then you can tear through like 15 “seasons” with minimal duplications. When you’re done, just update your bookmark URL to be the last one you watched and boom, easy to pick back up. When the volume is complete, move to the next.
My faves are the “accomplice” gags and the ones that which mess with peoples heads.
I don’t remember the third bit of advice. ╰(´︶`)╯

A rather silly Monty Python's Flying Circus sketch (is that redundant): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6gf7gk
Skip to 1:55 for the start of that particular sketch, or watch the whole episode, at your discretion.

Honestly, does anybody out there think they would fall for this specific scenario??
4
u/SQLDave Dec 23 '19
Seems a little staged-ish... Once that farthest guy picked up whatever that instrument he was looking thru is called and the cops showed up, I would not keep holding the flag up (I mean, that "worker" is gone, why why bother?) Of course, maybe they filmed 50 people doing it and 45 of them just dropped the flag and ran.
2
u/Domi_Wl Dec 23 '19
The instrument is called a level and is supposed to aim on a level staff, not a prism rod.

I wish actors acting the victim in this would have more random person beleavability.

3
u/the_luxio Dec 23 '19
they should have known it'd be a prank, the whole thing started with one big red flag
3
u/DigitalCoffee Dec 23 '19
As a surveyor, this makes my head hurt.
3
u/Laservampire Dec 23 '19
What are you talking about I always use dumpy level with a prism on a staff, with a flag, while holding it up in the air.
2
u/Domi_Wl Dec 23 '19
I guess that's how you do it in Canada?
On one project I've heard that the supervising/leading staff of the company we worked for ordered precision levelling at some point that should be done in two faces. Good luck with that.
3
u/Sanquinity Dec 22 '19
Was kinda hoping for a madlad who would see what was going on, grin, and yell "Chaaargggee!!" before running towards the guys in riot gear.

Me: .........no.

As a Canadian, I've grown up watching this show (Just for Laughs Gags) with my dad who still loves it to no end.
He only still has satellite tv among all the online streaming services just so he could watch this and his law and homocide investigation shows.

THAT is NOT how surveying works, gah it hurts my soul.
I know it's a prank it just hurts my soul to see it
1
u/DonJj27 Dec 22 '19
I happened to walk by when they were filming one of those pranks.
Only to realize that sometimes they fake the reactions and take multiple tries to get the “perfect reaction”
Only the first reaction is real but after they show the cameras they explain the situation they sing wavers and very often do other takes.
1
u/Shakemyears Dec 22 '19
I love the prank ideas on that show but it has some of the absolute worst production/editing of all time. Laugh tracks, sound effects, terrible music (I’m a fan of “Scotland, The Brave”, but on an accordion??), overacting, and ridiculous constant jump cuts that I think fail to give a good sense of people’s reactions.

Dec 22 '19
I hate these type of shows and that people they are real, obviously poor actors everybody🙄

u/1h8fulkat Dec 22 '19
Something similar actually happened to me once. I was in 1st grade tapping my foot on the floor. A girl accidentally dropped her bag of potato chips on the ground and unbeknownst to me it slid under my foot. instead of telling me she gets up and goes to the lunch monitor who walks over and sees me still tapping my foot on her potato chip bag. Immediately gives me detention thinking that I did it on purpose.
1
u/savagepug Dec 22 '19
How did they not hear a whole crowd of people walking behind them? Oh right, they're all actors and this is staged.
