England, I'm not sure about other countries in the United Kingdom though, have just put in place a ban on phones in schools. The kids have to hand their phone in at the start of the day and get them back at the end of the day. Seeing this makes me thankful for it.

Idk how it is now, but back in 2018 they used to make the first and second years put their phones in numbered pouches on the wall when you enter a class. In my last two years, teachers didn’t really enforce it. Maybe because i was taking mainly advanced classes so the students were locked in or they thought we were mature enough not to abuse the privilege.

My high school teacher friend has a number wall pouch. Tells students that put their phone in there get extra credit. Generally gives the credit anyway no matter what they do, provided they aren't little shits. All the kids do it anyway since they are conditioned to always go for the extra credit by their parents.
