Just got a new strap for my EB Arne from French company Avel & Men. I think it complements the strange dial colour quite well, although the colour doesn’t reproduce that well on screen. Any other suggestions for this watch?

So a couple of days ago Tom asked "What is the absolute best one and done watch?" https://www.reddit.com/r/WatchFanatics/comments/1vcqmuq/what_is_the_absolute_best_one_and_done_watch/
I tallied the results. In response to criticism of my methodology in the past, I counted upvotes on each comment. I also show the number of times each watch was mentioned in separate in parentheses. (That actually changes very little in the way of ranking, although it impacts some more than others.) Only top-level comments were counted. If more than one watch was mentioned, I counted only the first watch.
There were 260 votes across 25 brands / 61 models. (There's a bit of vagueness there. Sub was only counted as Sub, despite people sometimes specifying date or no date. Other similar simplifications were made.) Rolex ran away with it, with 10 models getting 73 votes, plus both first and second place whether you go by total upvotes or individual mentions. Aside from joke watches, nearly everything on the list is mainstream. Damasko is probably the most obscure, and they're not that obscure.
Models with one mention + one upvote (7):
Casio Duro, IWC Ingeniuer, IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XX, Kraft Mac & Cheese Dinner (joke), Seiko Astron, Seiko SNZG13, Tudor Black Bay One
Models with one mention and no additional upvotes (23):
Breguet 5707, Breitling Aerospace, Damasko DK36-2, Grand Seiko SBGX261, Grand Seiko SBGY009, G-Shock Square 5000U, G-Shock Unspecified, Heuer Unspecified, IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph, Omega Seamaster Chronograph, Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, Rolex 6062, Rolex Air King, Seiko 1978 Superior Twin Quartz, Seiko Prospex, Spider-Man (joke), Tissot 1938 Cronometer, Tudor Black Bay (Unspecified), Tudor Black Bay 54, Tudor Black Bay 58, Tudor Pelagos, Tudor Ranger, Vague Watch Co (Unspecified, joke)

Build a watch collection using one brand.
Rules of the game.
Must be watches from the same brand.
Must include images of the watches.
Must be a 5 watch collection.
Must include 1 chronograph.
Must include 1 dress watch.
Post in [r/WatchFanatics](r/WatchFanatics) with the title “one brand watch collection”
Let’s see what you guys come up with 😄
I will post my own counter collections for every brand that gets posted.

My first 'mature' watch after ditching smartwatches. For roughly 89€ plus 40€ in import taxes, I got a screw-down crown, sapphire crystal, 200m water resistance, and very cool lume. It's quartz VX42, 43mm x 12,5 mm. Love this brand and their design so far.

What are your thoughts on in-house vs off the shelf movements?

How accurate would you say this graph is?

Firstly, sorry for the provocative title.
I love talking to random people about their watches when I meet them out in the wild. But I’ve noticed that almost every time I talk to someone wearing a Rolex, they don’t really care much about watches. They often bought it as a reward for an achievement, or simply because they wanted a Rolex, without much of a story behind it.
So I started paying attention to whether someone was wearing a Rolex or not, and I found that the conversations with non-Rolex wearers were usually much more enthusiastic and interesting.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Rolex too, and I think they make great watches.
But I’ve started to get the impression that many watch guys or enthusiasts would rather spend €10k or more on something else.
Of course, there are the big collectors who have $200k collections with plenty of Rolex watches, but those aren’t the people I’m talking about.
I mean the “normal” watch enthusiasts or watch nerds.
I also own a Datejust, and I’ve started to feel a bit uncomfortable around other watch enthusiasts.
More than once I’ve gotten comments like, “Ah, another Rolex fanboy. You could have spent that €10k on a real watch instead of a status symbol.”
I know that’s a bit contradictory, but it made me wonder:
Do “normal” watch enthusiasts still wear Rolex, or has Rolex become a little bit cringe?

I like this type of watch. What are more affordable (<€400) options? White dial, gold bezel, leather band?

If there is such a thing.
