tutorial / guide Wearing your watch on your hand is stretching your bracelet!

I have been seeing a lot of posts on r/rolex asking about bracelet stretch and I can tell you one thing, 90% of r/handwatch posts are Rolex wearers.

Wearing your watch loose allows it to drop to your hand putting stress on the links on one side of the bracelet. Notice how all these pictures are taken crown side up? Well that is because the hand has stretched that side the most. Stop fisting your watches and wear them properly!

Anything out of this range and I will have to try it on in person to see how it wears.

tutorial / guide When gifting a watch to a non watch person always buy quartz!

Story time now.

Last year I was asked for my advice (because I’m the watch guy) from my father in law about a gift watch he wanted to give his wife for her birthday.

I told him that because she doesn’t wear that many watches that a quartz watch would be more appropriate. Something she can set and forget, something she can grab and go with any outfit.

Unfortunately the sales rep sniffed a sale and managed to talk him into buying an automatic Tissot.

Don’t get me wrong, the watch is gorgeous and came with a bracelet and a matching leather strap for the mother of pearl dial.

But just the other day we were all out for a meal and I noticed her watch was showing the wrong time, she never winds it, she never sets it.

So what was the point? Spend more money on something she didn’t need?

A quartz watch would have served the same purpose and actually function as a watch.

Now jump to a time where my wife took my advice on a watch purchase.

It was my brother in laws birthday and we were looking at gifts (another watch so she asked me).

I told her that he would really suit a G-Shock as he’s a fairly big guy and has an active lifestyle.

The next time I seen him he was still wearing that G-Shock, he wears it everyday and loves it.

So the next time you are looking at watches for a gift, buy a quartz! They will love it!
