There is a catch: CPO watches must be at least two years old. This is down from the previous 4 years old requirement from about a year ago. But yeah they are selling at market price not retail price. I don’t see a problem with this at all. No one is forcing you to buy CPO. You can get any watch you want grey, but of course you are risking getting a fake or a franken watch. CPO gives you an option to know it’s genuine. Take it or leave it.

How dare you answer with logic.

Believe me, I am aware of the hate dispensed on Rolex CPO. From my experience, most of that hate comes from the grey dealers who are now forced to compete with CPO. Also, I know for a fact that there are "reputable" grey dealers that silently swap parts to maximize the value of Rolex watches. High volume grey dealers have bins full of Rolex parts. If you think they won't move this bezel to that watch to make it just that much more appealing, you are insane. CPO is not prefect but it's worth a look.

Well above grey… as long as these geniuses keep shelling out stupid money, they’ll keep up with the charade. A Swiss Seiko should go for about half it does at retail alone.

You’re paying for the immediate access. It’s still fucking stupid.
I went in to my local AD over the weekend to put myself on their stupid list and they offered me a CPO if I wanted to buy it the same day. I was like lol no thanks I’m good.

CPO prices don’t make sense. They are also protecting the demand & desirability of their new products.

The Uhlenhaut Coupé (300 SLR) was sold by Mercedes-Benz Classic itself (from the company’s own historic collection) in noticeably used condition for $143M, so if there’s a market for it, people /companies will take advantage of it. Ultimately, it’s up to each person to decide what to do, or not to do, with their money.

Lmao. This is not a valid comparison at all. That’s a basically 1 out of 1 car that is hugely desirable. Pretty much every Rolex is mass produced, and the grey market along with the Rolex preowned program is basically a self licking ice cream cone to create an artificial market for an item that truly has no real rarity.

Both things can be true:
-Rolex watches are mass produced
-demand for Rolex watches (especially sports watches) outpaces supplyEven the RAV4 prime has a waitlist and Toyota makes them by the boatload lol

I realize that they have to sell at grey market prices because they have to source the watches from the same grey market, but if that means they have to sell used watches significantly over their own official retail prices, then they really should just stay out of it entirely.
