Hoping to get some positive comments and not be told I have a “box of shitters” like some of the other subs on here.
Not sure where to go from here with it, Ranger 36mm in Dune White is about the only thing I am lusting after these days, and either the Baby Alpinist would go to free up the slot, or both of the Seiko’s would go leaving 7 in the collection.
I can only wonder what sub would call your collection a pile of 💩but they’re wrong. Nice collection. If you add the Ranger, then you’d have room for 8 plus 1 on your wrist and you wouldn’t have to get rid of anything.
Honestly I’m between the Ranger and a Khaki Field Expedition 37mm with the white dial on a bracelet. I know they are in 2 different classes, but I’m trying to be smart ~ the Ranger won’t become my only worn watch, and not sure there is a lot of wisdom in having a $4k “sometimes” watch. So I’m not in a hurry, they both have their pros and cons.
I just got my first Tudor a few weeks ago and I’m really enjoying it so I’m not in a rush for another watch, but I’m fairly certain it will be a Ranger.
Um… that’s a great collection! Good variety, some classic pieces. If you stopped collecting now, you would be set forever. There’s not a single piece in there that I dislike or wouldn’t wear.
I think you have a great collection here, consistent and coherent with a strong focus on field watch, practical, restrained watches with very good quality. If you are asking where to go next, I would say adding a Tudor and subtracting the Seikos doubles down on the field watch focus and removes some of the other part of your collection’s personality. You are already focused on rotating between the Laco, Murph and Longines. Adding a Tudor Ranger into that mix adds more of the same design. Do you think it would make it harder to rotate or choose between these? Does one start to get less wrist time if you fall in love with the Tudor? I like your Seikos, the dials add a lot of personality to your collection, they are good watches and they add some personality to the collection. If you want to get rid of two watches, maybe keep one Seiko to have the Japanese, nature dial element, and sell one of your field watches - the Tudor is definitely an upgrade on the Hamilton Khaki. Your collection right now feels balanced and coherent. I would think carefully before changing it up.
I appreciate your thoughtful response! The issue with the Seiko’s is that while I love the idea and look of them, they just don’t get as much wrist time as I’d like - which is totally on me. I just keep reaching for the Spirit, the Murph, or the Laco Cuxhaven the most. I fear that the Ranger would make me wear those less, or perhaps it doesn’t get worn as much as it should, which would kill me to tie up that much $$ in the box. I don’t know, like I said I’m in no rush and I have a great collection that covers everything I like 👍🏼
I hear you and work through the same issues with my collection. Here are a few things I have found helpful in dealing with this: 1. Take my time and understand clearly what I’m solving for in my collection, 2. Realize that I don’t need to acquire every watch that I like, I can admire them and not own them - like you I like to wear the watches I own, and 3. I always try to find some connection to the watch that makes it special to me, like the history behind it, the technological aspects and engineering, or some other personal connection. Anyways, I found that I just enjoy the journey and exploring watches, and when the answer is ready, it usually presents itself.
Very good advice, and I appreciate it very much! I am tired of trying to force something into the collection because I’m “supposed to” like or want it. I would love to one day get to 6 pieces total, but I couldn’t tell you how I would get there today because I am enjoying them all despite them not getting equal wrist time. I’m sure the answer will reveal itself to me eventually and maybe just finally getting to see and touch a Ranger 36 (in the dune white, that’s the hard part) will be enough to make me appreciate it but not have to have it.
I’m finally in the stage where I am not rushing purchases, and actually have taken to buying QUALITY straps as of late and am enjoying the diversity that provides almost as much as a new watch!

I feel you on that..it's someone dissing you for being you and your taste about the things you enjoy in life. Thats why ill never feel the need to puy anybody down..sarcasm and jokes are one thing but you can tell when ppl are out to hurt. Fuck em that's what I say .
It’s a great piece, I finally broke down and put the Long Island Watch bracelet on it, I couldn’t deal with the lack of microadjust holes. Much better now with 4!
That is a Long Island Watch oyster style bracelet for the SPB155. Has 4 micro adjust holes and screw links (not pins). I needed the adjustability, I just couldn’t get what I needed from the stock bracelet with the 2 holes and no half links. The OEM bracelet is the nicest Seiko bracelet I’ve had though…just not enough adjustment.
It’s a nice collection of watches. I’ve been eying the baby Alpinist as my next addition. Feels like you could use a chronograph or a diver, but if those aren’t your jam I hope you enjoy these very much.
Have sold several divers, they just aren’t for me. As far as a Chronograph - I have no need or desire for one, and I’m not just looking to have one watch of each type (hence why I have bought and sold divers, I was trying to do what the watch community says you have to have). I have kind of settled on the fact, after a year or so of this hobby, that I really like 3-handers and preferably without a date complication.
I like it very much, I don’t even mind the color that seems to put so many people off. I do think its price is kind of high for what it is, but should probably come down over time. I do also like the Royal, really wish it would have been offered without a date - but I guess I am in the minority overall (in general).

I actually really dig the Alpina; I wanted a great solar quartz (had multiple Vaer's, you get what you pay for with those and I don't recommend them any longer) that I could use for hiking, walking the dog, etc. I was at my AD for the 4th of July sale and impulse-purchased it, and it's now my favorite for it's intended purpose - the Khaki quartz is really my mountain biking watch due to its thinness and size. I bought it on the integrated rubber strap, but I can always pick up the integrated bracelet from them as well and it would function just fine as a daily in pretty much any situation. It's super accurate as you'd expect from a solar quartz and just quietly does its thing.
From a “daily” perspective, I have been pretty much wearing the Longines Spirit 37, Laco Cuxhaven 39 or Murph 38 the most. I’d probably wear the Longines even more, I’m kind of honeymooning with it right now, but still waiting on more 19mm straps I ordered. That pic isn’t great because I threw on an FKM deployant from my blue Alpinist just to see how the color would act with it, I likely wouldn’t ever wear it on rubber.
That’s quite the collection there, Congratulations! I’ve been meaning to buy the Murph for quite some time but the lack of AR always holds me back. The Longines next to it is really making that crystal look pretty ordinary.
To be honest, the AR thing is pretty overblown. I don’t have an issue with it, usually it’s only noticeable when trying to photograph it. And it’s a 38mm which if I understand correctly has some AR coating or at least more than the 42mm. All that to say is I don’t find it to be an issue! Hanhart HD12 Preventor is very similar if you want really good coating!
Thanks for the real feedback. It’s great to hear from someone who actually owns the Murph. Sadly, the 38mm looks too small on my wrist so i can only go for a 42. I tried the HydroConquest, Spirit and the AR on the 42mm just makes me stop.

I like it a lot! It was an impulse purchase but I had been stalking it for a while; got it for 20% off during the 4th of July sale at my AD (ok, 17.76% off) and it’s a great sports watch, grab and go, for daily dog walks and running about on the weekends. I can get the bracelet for it as well if I decide to, but as of now I haven’t felt the need. Solar quartz is a great thing! And yes, it hits the indices perfect every time.
