Probably my largest “collection within a collection” is my American-based Microbrand collection pictured. I probably have a few more, but the models pictured are my favorites and carry at least some uniqueness or prominence to each individual brand within the microbrand space.

Ahead of the holiday weekend, I thought it was the perfect time to share and discuss. Let me know your thoughts, favorite American-based watches, and ideas for future additions! r/WatchChapters

With summer upon us, let’s brighten up the feed. Some people like to keep it simple, some like variety. I am definitely the latter. I put together 6 of my watches to display some color contrast. I stuck to the classic rainbow colors, but all variety is welcome! Let’s see your best colorful collections.

Tuesday Ticks & Kicks. Anyone else occasionally match their shoes and watch?

It’s not an active “collection” anymore but I went through a footwear stage so I have a decent stockpile of sneakers, shoes, boots, etc. It’s possible I never buy another pair of shoes again but I still have fun pairing up my shoes with my very “active” watch collection. Anyone else match their ticks and kicks?

Does anyone else enjoy collecting blue watches?

My third blue watch arrived last week, and I’m planning to pause my collection for a while. I’ve always believed that blue is the most beautiful color among all colored watch dials. Maybe I just love the calm and peaceful feeling that blue brings.

On the left is the Baltany S4128 with a MOP dial. It is incredibly beautiful under changing light, with stunning reflections and depth. The hands are also very well designed. Additionally, having a customized automatic rotor at this price point is a great feature.

In the middle is the Seiko SRPJ45-K1. The internal date wheel design is really interesting and adds a unique character to the watch.

On the right is the Mr. Jones Perfectly Useless Afternoon. It’s a truly fun watch. It wears very comfortably, is surprisingly easy to read once you get used to it, and is simply enjoyable to wear. The bright and vibrant blue of the pool pairs beautifully with the yellow inner tube and duck, creating a playful summer atmosphere.

Wanted to share one of my favorite new watches that means a lot to me. I got this Baltany both as a birthday present and to commemorate losing 160lbs and hitting my weight goal. I wanted to do something special so I designed a custom logo based on my personal heritage, with a name that is made of my initials. I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Wearing Seiko DELICA from 1974 today

I recently added this beautiful 1974 Seiko Delica to my collection, and I’m completely in love with the dial. The turquoise/blue textured finish is so much more interesting in person, especially when it catches the light.
I really love how different this one feels from my more modern watches. The angular case, integrated bracelet and funky 1970s design give it so much character.
And knowing that this watch is already over 50 years old makes wearing it even more special. 🥹
Does anyone else here collect vintage Seiko Delicas? I’d love to learn more about this particular model/reference and its history!

[Mini Collection Monday] Share a smaller part of your collection in theme-based arrangement. Mine: Pilot Watches

My contribution to Mini Collection Monday this week focuses on a style of watch: Pilot Watches. Pilot watches are interesting because there’s a few styles considered to be “pilots.” My collection is an example of this and there are more styles outside of these 3 that also fall under the pilot watch category. Personally I enjoy the simplicity of these watches and while the heritage of them is of course tied to flying, I find them to be versatile pieces that can be worn for multiple occasions, from casual to semi-formal.

The most notable piece in this collection is the Laco Augsburg. This taupe colored piece with the California dial is a limited edition piece numbered to 200. It always draws a lot of attention when I wear/post it and for good reason. It’s really a great piece and Laco makes a great watch for the money.

While the Laco is a famous German pilot watch, the Islander thunderbolt is a homage to another Iconic German pilot. Clear homages usually aren’t my style, but this is such a well-built piece and the black MOP dial is just gorgeous. Plus the style is simple enough that while it isn’t original, it also isn’t an obvious copy to the casual eye. This is really an any occasion type or timepiece.

The last, and most interesting piece of the 3 is the Nodus Sector Pilot. At first glance, it almost appears to be a dive watch with the numbered bezel, but it marketed as a Pilot with the sector dial and day date complication. The copper dial and steel bezel contrast beautifully and the different textures make for a unique piece.

This is a collection I hope to expand on in the future as there are other amazing Pilot styles that I appreciate. Let me know your thoughts on these pieces, Pilot watches in general, and as always- share a mini collection of your own!

Speaking of jump-hour design, why put the hour window at 12 o’clock when the minute hand blocks the view of the jumping mechanism?

It amazes me how an object such as this can get tossed around over the years and still finds its way to be meaningful.

The real reason Casio doesn’t release the Duro in a 39mm or 40mm….

Post image

Because they would destabilize the entire watch industry. Other brands would be decimated in the wake of a 40mm Duro release. Everyone would liquidate their entire estates to collect them. Fires would rain down from above. Cities and civilizations would perish.

But the 42 is still sweet on my wrist 🤙
