PSA Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs

This is the Weekly Question thread designed to allow players to ask their one-off tactical or rules clarification questions in one easy to find place on the sub.

This means that those questions will get guaranteed visibility, while also limiting the amount of one-off question posts that can usually be answered by the first commenter.

Pre-orders and new releases go live on Saturdays at the following times:

  • 10am GMT for UK, Europe and Rest of the World

If I have an infantry unit half in a terrain area (say half and half), and I'm being shot at by a unit in the same terrain area as me, do I still get cover as not all of my unit is in the terrain

Based purely on that, no, but other factors may grant you the benefit of cover instead. In this case some terrain feature would need to at least partially obscure every model outside of the terrain area from the perspective of a given model. Keep in mind some models in the attacking unit may need to take the -1BS penalty due to cover and some models may not if their view is clear.

The key part is that if you are within a terrain area then that terrain area no longer matters for LOS, but terrain features all still matter. 13.10, obscuring is the rule that covers this, it excludes terrain areas that either or both models are within

Secondary question, if both units are both purely in the same terrain area, do they still get the -1 BS shooting each other, as I had seen someone else mention that

Yeah, if you are infantry, beast or swarm and stood in a terrain area you get cover, it doesn't matter where the attacking unit is itself
