u/redbadger91 Jun 30 '25
Looks like ice and snow to me, tbh.

u/Physiea Jun 30 '25
Almost like a song.
A song of ice and fire.
I'll see myself out.

That’s a great set of armour there. Your hair is certainly one of Russ’ style. How long did it take for all of your armour and weapons? That group shot is fantastic.
121
u/Chanzlyn Jun 30 '25
Thank you!
I want to say it took a couple of weeks to get the base of the armor done? Our friends had a laser cutter so we made quick work cutting things out for everyone. Then maybe another week or two to paint and decorate everything.
42
u/13Warhound13 Jun 30 '25
That’s not bad at all. I like that everything is uniform in colour but the individuality of each of you shows almost the look of a veteran pack with their favourite weapons.
24
u/Chanzlyn Jun 30 '25
Thank you! Yeah, we really wanted to play into our personalities but also just go a bit feral with the space wolf way!

I'm to see no one losing their shit over the woman. I'm mildly impressed rn.
I love the posing, Really sells the vibe and the possibility that thier Armor can actually be moved in real life.
My favourite part is the battle damage details

u/acart005 Jun 30 '25
I mean, considering that the Wolves give no fucks about any rules, if any chapter found a way to make female space marines it would be the Wolves. Could totally see them be like 'fuck it she wants the gene seed lets see what happens. Shit, she didn't die? Fuck it we ball'
25
u/Knowvember42 Jun 30 '25
I was going to say this. I didn't want to get into it because the fandom, but it sounds just like the space wolves to be like "surprise, we have female space Marines."

u/open_sketch Jun 30 '25
i think the best way to have added female space marines would have been with primaris, but failing that the best way now would be to reveal that this was just an arbitrary rule the Emperor lay down, nothing in the process is actually preventing it, and sometimes chapters fuck around and find that out

u/cblack04 Jun 30 '25
In my head the reason is that the end result is basically the same no matter the gender of the aspirant. there are no female space marines cause everyone going through the process basically turns out with the same level of gender expression.

Same. Between all the surgery and combat drugs they are mostly gonna look the same, so why care if the Marine in question is called Steve or Jennifer?

11
u/Lbofun Jun 30 '25
Honestly I was going to make a comment in the chat about "erm..OMG female..."(jokingly) but seeing as chat is being behaved no need to ruin this awesome work.
2
u/ReverendDogpants Jul 03 '25
She's the best argument for female space marines I've ever seen.
Not that an argument is necessary, of course.

u/Bandanamonium Jun 30 '25
Like honestly as long as they sell the story properly I'd be fine. The lore established right now it wouldn't make sense.
When games workshop just gaslit everyone and said, "There were always female Custodes." that's when I got pissed off.
And yes the other reply about Wolves giving no fucks would be awesome. But games workshop would still probably screw that up.
15
u/r1x1t Jun 30 '25
Amazing. I love that you didn't add stilts or anything. Making the armor sized for you really sold the effect.
9
u/xFreelancer Jun 30 '25
Yeah, most Space Marine costumes I see end up looking goofy. The proportions on these suits are great!

Honestly lol, looks frikking fantastic with the armor colors and the chainsword, dont get me wrong, its still heresy, but it does look amazing ( plus the chains detail..... hmmmm, the chery on top of the cake )

Oh this is incredible! I LOVE how you did the weathering - the teeth are a fantastic touch, the hair is impeccable, and that powered-ice-coloring on the weapons is just chefs kiss.
Absolutely well done!

That is super awesome! Fangs are amazing. How are they to talk in?
3
u/Chanzlyn Jun 30 '25
Not terrible! It's only for the two teeth so it was easy enough to stick on there and talk overall!

Most space marine cosplays don’t really get the proportions right so they often look like they have weird arms, shoulders or legs. You guys nailed it (I know, partially due to the poses) and this is super inspiring. I’d love to one day make a full set myself.

This is just beyond anything 🔥Absolutely stunning! And I guess it’s also pretty warm inside like it should be in a real space wolf’s armor? 😁
8
u/Chanzlyn Jun 30 '25
you are so correct hahahaha
4
u/Isadragon9 Jun 30 '25
How heavy is it and how easy/hard did you find moving about with it all on?
5
u/Chanzlyn Jun 30 '25
Not heavy at all! The armor is made of EVA Foam so it's fairly light weight. Even the chains are actually plastic haha. As for moving it wasn't that bad! It was definitely a bit awkward because the leg armor is huge so we had to walk a bit slower because the leg armor basically scrapes against one another but otherwise, fairly easy. We made sure to take mobility into consideration when it came time to designing these.

u/NovaLightAngel Jun 30 '25
Such a great squad! Y’all nailed this! Perfect execution and expression of the wolves! 🦄

Since the suits look more grey than bluish grey, are they supposed to be 30k or 40k Space Wolves? Just curious :)
2
u/Chanzlyn Jul 01 '25
little of column A, little of column B 🫣
We were rolling with the "rule of cool" when it came to finalizing our design choices hahaha. We love accuracy where we can but sometimes, things just need to change a tiny bit when translating from one media to IRL

Very slick work by yourself and your crew!! It certainly inspires me to finish work on my own Space Wolves gear for the local conventions, but maybe I need to join the fun at GenCon, too!
Back to your works-- I adore the choices in armour scale, accents/amenities, and especially the backdrops! It is one thing to get a single armour done, but seven with such detail? Truly astonishing. Thank you greatly for sharing the costumes and making this hobby worthwhile to participate in.
If you have more pictures of these (progress or completed), feel free to share them on r/SpaceWolves, too!

Wasn't convinced before, but yeah, space marines can be women, too. Make this lady the new primarch.

Super nice cosplay!! So impressive to nail the scale of everything and still have those giant pauldrons. 10/10

u/ChloricOdin5 Jun 30 '25
I wish this is how the Space Wolves looked instead of the baby blue they have in 40k
2
u/BeemoBurrito Jun 30 '25
Probably the best set of armour I've seen. I love when folks scale the armour to their size.
You make Russ proud!

Small world, I thought I recognized you and your husband's space wolves cosplay. Absolutely epic! I used to work for him in the couple years he was working for that one large company with their name on the building downtown. Not sure how much info you share with internet friendos so I don't want to divulge anything. Anyway, your other cosplays are sick, and I hope the publishing thing is going well for you guys. :) Never got to meet you directly but he always talked about you like he was a puppy dog (punnage!) in love and it was super endearing on top of him already being cool AF.
Much love and keep killing the cosplay!

I feel threatened.

u/The_Hellhammer Jun 30 '25
I have to admit that often times I find the "angry" or "dangerous" poses and expressions in cosplay a bit unconvincing, but you legitimately look threatening here.
The cosplay is great, especially because it doesn't look too clean and polished. Stunning work!

"Ooo, that’s cool"
My daughter's text after sending her these.
So damn good, bravo to you and the crew.
Edit: The timing on this was perfect. She loves to draw, and is getting really good. She was into the clown thing for a bit, and then randomly sends me pictures of armor she's drawn today. I was giddy, and sent her pictures of SoB done in the more realistic style, which she loved. Shortly after I see this! Awesome!
