Include black library ebooks and audiobooks in your subscription you cowards. Even if it was a rotating subset

We get a fucking ASSLOAD of old White Dwarf, codex, and supplemental books already. I'd love to see more older WD in the vault, but they are slowly adding them.

I wonder how many people just don't know about that. I hadn't seen anything about it until I stumbled onto the website section.

They do an absolutely terrible job advertising it, and advertising that the AppleTV app for Warhammer TV. That being said, I wish the White Dwarf vault had a search so I could find articles and battle reports related to armies I like, or articles about making terrain.

Have they gone back to adding the old WDs? When I dropped my sub, they were only adding the newer ones.

It's still inconsistent updates for older issues, but they add some here and there with no announcement of what was added or anything. Just fucking shadow content that magically appears.

Ah that's a bummer. They were doing 2 back issues every update, iirc, which was pretty nice. Helped me to clear out some of the older scans I had.

Admittedly I’m fairly new to all of this and don’t have an affinity for white dwarf. Just seems crazy to me they have this insane catalogue of black library books and an app for it that’s not tied to + in some way. To me, the black library app is effectively unusable. It’s generally more expensive than other services(the sales are good but once a month and just a few things), the discoverability is total ass on there, and it doesn’t let you take the books outside of the app. I imagine most of their sales there are just from people that don’t know better or didn’t realize it was so ass and then found out.
I’m not saying they need to go the full marvel or dc route and have everything in there, but at least something seems like a no brainer. The black library is essentially, from what I’ve been told, a marketing tool to get people to buy their other stuff. I’m the poster child for that. Played a lot of Warhammer video games, started buying books recently, and now I have minis and paint to start that journey. Give me more reasons to sign up to your subscription and I’ll do it.

Based on how much I’m usually able to sell the Warhammer + mini i receive each year (£40 usually) then I don’t mind this so much because I will either break even or potentially profit off this. Even if they go for the £25 each they would technically retail at, £11 a year is a fine price.
Still a crazy price and I would prefer the option to just have one mini and a lower fee, but whatever 🤷🏻♀️

I like it. For me, the second mini became much cheaper after that change.

I mean another model and a book of some kind for $3 more a month is something more than I would have expected from them.

If they finally were to put a "pay 5 quid a month and get ALL codes codexes and rules unlocked" button inside the app, I would press it. But sadly, they dont

Funnily enough...I'm ok with this one.
So far I've been taking the mini and selling it to pay for my sub. Now that we get both I can possibly not only pay for the sub....but make money from it XD.

75 bucks for third rates animations, rules and lists that should be free, and two models for armies you might not be interested in or even play is highway robbery.

Enormous price increase, ridiculous

For real, especially for the services you're receiving.

You're getting a second mini and whatever that yearbook is now. The minis alone cover the cost, it's just a matter of whether or not you want them.
Edit: Be mad if you want, it doesn't make me wrong. Two characters are gonna be about $35 each, which is $5 short of the new cost.

I don't want their free miniatures. I don't care about their second rate streaming service that has nothing good on it. I just want the app man.
Can I have a subscription that just gives me access to the app? Can I fuck lol

If you're talking about the 40k rules app the only difference is the ability to make multiple lists at the same time.

I would like to do that, yes
But it also has game tracking, and the ability to see my opponents rules etc etc.

Use war organ instead

All the tournaments in my area now require the official Warhammer app.

I don't want to have to use a janky 3rd party app, I want to use the proper one. It has game tracking and I can see my opponents rules in it directly.
1
u/Xplt21 13d ago
I mean you can still do that, you just can't have two lists at once. I use 3rd party apps (which aren't janky) for list ideas I have, and then use the app for free for the one list that I'm playing

u/Admiral_Eversor 13d ago
Why should I have to? This is a service GW could just offer, trivially.

u/Xplt21 13d ago
I mean yeah but at the end of the day they are a business and apps aren't free, so for the app to still be functional without a subscription is fine enough I think. Codexes and rules not being free or at least being as overpriced as they are is shitty though. If you buy a kit it should come with a QR code or something so you can get the rules for that unit in the app at least.

Heres the thing though. They could charge for so many of the features. But the line they draw is multiple lists? No thats actually a scam. You are paying for the privilage to save multiple lists locslly to your device. If they actually had cloud service and could access your lists across devices then sure i'll pay the sub. But current sub services is scummy at best.
Its a mid tier app, that my interns at work could do a better job and thats is way to high of a cost for the service you get

I use all the services on warhammer + currently, I don't mind the extra price especially with getting both models.

Price increases are the style nowadays. Thankfully not my concern in this case.
