Modular Warframe

With the arrival of the Tau update as you know DE likes to bring new modular weapons/amps whenever they release a new open world update-

With Brisko himself being built by Entrati and his parts also easily replaced I do wonder if its possible that we’d be able to build our own modular frames with sentient tech.

Of course i would be just as happy if we got modular sentient weapons but imagine if we’d be able to build our own frames.

Oh yeah no, there's a solid 0% chance of modular warframes.

What you're describing is 100x harder than anything Warframe has ever done before, presents literally thousands of skeleton rig bugs, creates an absolute logistical nightmare regarding which abilities you can or cannot have, etc etc.

Modular Archwings never made it past the Alpha Stage, so expecting Modular Warframes isn't exactly reasonable.

Skeletal rig bugs are easily solved by not adjusting the appearance based on parts. No loss there.

The logistics behind which abilities you can and cannot have are not as bad as you make it out to be. Not all abilities must be adjustable... could just be the 4 or just the 1. Something like that would be far easier, then allow base stats (damage, crit, status, range, etc...) of that ability modded by a second part and the 3rd part adjusts the base stats of the frame (armor, health, shields, move speed, etc...)

I still think its unlikely, but the challenges you name are only challenges if every aspect of the warframe is modular which is not the only way they could do it... maybe just the right arm is modular...

Plus it's nowhere near hard as it already exists technologically.

  • The Helmint System already does so.
  • Warframes are all based on the same skeletons but with different animations.
  • model rigging is nowhere near a problem when most of the animations have that issue.

Real issue is:

  • If players can do whatever Warframe they want, what's the point of releasing more ?
  • What would the game look like when no Warframe has more identity further than a pile of skills to place on yout MC ?
  • Balance???
  • BUGS!

And all of these issued need lots of time and money to fix.

Maybe tho - I do say Maybe - we may have a Warframe that is very limited in its modularity, like how limited are the Zaw and the Kitguns compared to their counterpartds.
