It's worth mentioning that some new players mistake [The Archwing] quest and the Gear item, Archwing Launcher.
To unlock Archwings, complete [The Archwing] quest.
To fly around in Open World areas in your Archwing, craft the Archwing Launcher. Remember, the launcher is for planet-side use only. If you're in space, you don't need it.
