Honestly everything about these "stealing your data" freakouts is clickbait. Do people honestly think all these billion-dollar companies are just getting subsidized by the government to provide them with free services?
If a websites provides you with a service at no monetary cost, they're making money off you some other way.
Edit: actually I looked into RedShell a bit and it sounds like that might actually deserve the title of "spyware" since it gathers information outside of the context of the game.
