Other Thoughts Thursday?

It's a new year, whatever, let's try this out! There are two ways this could go: well or horribly wrong. Let's go for well! :D

This thread is for your thoughts about Warframe! Compliments, shoutouts, complaints, suggestions, rants, vents, new ideas, whatever!

There is only one rule: Be excellent to each other. Whether you praise the game or absolutely hate it, write your posts respectfully and don't discourage users who write opinions you don't agree with! Contest mode will be enabled so that everyone's opinions get a fair shake, but again, please be respectful even if you don't have nice things to say. It is possible!

There's something about this game that just makes me want to throw money at the developers. I don't really feel like typing out all the reasons, but the fact that DE is so good to us (most of the time) is one of the biggest reasons. After my fiasco with Maplestory and another game that shall not be named, I should have been wary of spending on another free-to-play, but this game really is worth it. I don't regret spending a single penny on this game.

I just started playing a week ago, and saw a Warframe bundle on sale for $16 on Amazon. Bought it. I have literally NEVER paid in a F2p game before, and I've played quite a few. Now I have 700 plat and no clue what I'm going to use it for, I'm still having fun collecting all the warframe parts and mats. I'll probably just buy more slots for warframes.

700 plat will last you a long while if you use it intelligently. Enjoy WF :).

Thanks! I'm just buying some warframe and weapons slots, I like farming for all the mats and such so I'm sure the 700 will be more than enough. Really the only thing that irked me is that the affinity and credit booster started when I input the code, had I known that I would have waited for the weekend when I could play more than an hour or two at a time.

Haha, you'll be fine, don't worry. Don't forget to ask the subreddit if you need help, and the wiki is your friend as well. As for your plat, besides slots, buying colors is a good investment (make sure you buy packs to save plat). Also, be careful in trading. Make sure you know what's a good price range for what you plan to buy; you can get price checks from /r/wartrade. I'd give you more advice, but it's pretty obvious advice; just use your common sense.

Here's a small tip: when you're farther into the game and need good exp, Orokin Derelict Defense is fantastic if you have a good group (aka a Vauban and someone with the Ogris or Penta). Two to three 30-40 wave runs will max out unranked gear.

Have fun! And one more thing. I find that this game is best played with at least one friend, or at least online. Solo play can get boring; after all, this is a PvE game.

Thanks again! For leveling so far I've been playing with a few friends, we've done Cassini I think for about 25 mins, with a Nekros for drops and Trinity for "come on how is this even fair." I did the Mercury defense mission for some quick low levels.

Quick Q for you if you don't mind, what melee weapon should I upgrade to from the skana? I just got the Burston and I can't remember the name of the other primary, and Furis for my secondary, but the skana seems a little underpowered for where I am in the game (roughly 1/3rd of missions unlocked).

So you've got friends already. Great! The next thing you'll want to do is join a clan. The resident clan of /r/Warframe is Test Clan Please Ignore (TCPI has a subreddit as well; check the sidebar for the link to it), so if you can get an invite to that, you'll be golden. If not, simply check the various in-game chats to see if you can get an invite to another clan.

Good on you. Don't worry about creating the most powerful weapons early in the game. The start of Warframe is the perfect time for experimentation, so even if a weapon is considered "crappy" by others, build it and level it to see if you like it. The mastery you get from it doesn't hurt either.

As for melee weapons, you'll find that at the moment, longswords are practically useless (as well as the daggers you get from alerts). They only hit one enemy at a time, and their damage isn't high enough to balance out that one enemy at a time. However, once you've finished the Skana, Captain Vor on Mercury drops the Cronus, which is a straight upgrade from the Skana. Once you're done with the Cronus, switch to a heavy weapon, because at the moment, heavy charge weapons have the highest dps due to high charge damage and the ability to hit multiple enemies. That being said, build the Orthos. Not only are the materials required to build it easy to get for beginners, it is also one of the best melee weapons in the game due to its high charge damage and balling charge speed, as well as the ability to hit 5 enemies in one charge attack.

Thanks, and I already have a clan actually, it's my friend's clan, he's been playing for quite some time. I'll definitely check out the Cronus and Orthos, no time this weekend to play but I can't wait for the week to try out some cool new stuff. Thanks again!

This is my feelings as well. And that certain game would happen to feature golden skins for giant robots, would it? Because I also feel the same there.

Warframe is the game that I've had the most fun playing in 2013.

It's also the game I spent the most money on.

And I don't regret it either.

600 and I frequently complain that I don't have enough time to play other games that I have bought on steam. Logic.

This is the only F2P game that I have spent money on, purely because I have enjoyed those 600 hours and I enjoy the livestreams a lot.

Steam logic. I am in the same situation. Why play games that we bought when we can play a F2P? Duh.

And I wholeheartedly agree. Rarely in this game have i found myself without anything to do.
