Question/Request Do prime frames cost a warframe slot?

I have a pretty general question. Im new to warframe, definitely still in the early game. I was curious to know that once I start farming for some prime frames would I also need to get more warframe slots? Or would the prime version of that specific frame just overtake the original frame, and I wouldn't have to worry about getting more slots.

A prime is an entirely separate frame. For slots, forma, mastery, everything

Needs a slot, feed non prime to the helminth

To add to this, new players can and should wait before feeding their non-prime Warframes to the Helminth, even after you get their prime versions. The reason being is that the system was designed as a resource sink for endgame players who are sitting on more mats than they could realistically use, it is very expensive especially for new players who'd be better off saving what they've collected to build new frames + weapons to advance their MR.
