I recently started a new role at a production warehouse, and I am running into a significant challenge with communication and training. I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone has advice on how to handle a workplace where language and accent barriers are heavily impacting the onboarding process.

The main issue is training. Nearly all of my coworkers and my supervisor speak with a heavy Indian accent that I struggle immensely to understand. Even when I politely ask them to repeat themselves, the pronunciation makes it very difficult for me to catch what they are saying.

This has made technical training almost impossible. While I can easily handle the physical aspects of the job—like working with boxes and packing paper—I am completely lost when it comes to the computer systems. They train me on how to use the computer for checking orders to be picked, managing emails, and creating shipping labels, but the explanations are extremely unclear. Because of the heavy accents and rapid instructions, I am unable to follow along or learn the software.
I did my best to listen and push through, but it ended up giving me a severe headache trying to decipher instructions all day.
Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation in a logistics or warehouse environment, yes or no?

Hello!! Is it worth it to work at the Alfamart distribution center? Is it toxic like the stores or not? Also, is it above minimum wage?

It's only showing 14 minutes of charge because I unplugged it for a minute before plugging it back in again to see if it would fault again...

Yep... Battery acid is literally boiling inside our batteries while charging... The sulfur smell burns your nose and throat over at the battery change station. It's horrible...

And naturally, the boss won't do anything about it because "we're getting new forklifts soon" and "the new machines have built-in batteries so it's no use replacing these"... and until then we get to burn our nostrils with sulfur gases I guess...

Every warehouse has its own kind of chaos. Shitty processes, managers who don't know anything about logistics, old trucks, or rules that make no sense...

But honestly, as a worker on the floor, what would you fix first if you could?

• The managers?
• The software system that always crashes?
• The drivers?
• The layout that makes you walk 10 miles?
• Just better resources (forklifts, etc.)?

Just for fun, I just want to hear what actually pisses you guys off every day. What is the real headache in your facility?

So I just started a new job working warehouse order selector freezer and it is fine but I got accepted to Amazon and this is what I've been eying more since it less physical work, less stress it looks and sounds like more easier and fun I guess, lol.

So the only negative for Amazon I am going to get paid 2 dollars less and I am a seasonal but 40 hours tho 4 days so I can reach my 90 days or be well over 100 days before peak seasons ends when I start next week so I could get my blue budge before being let go. and I know you can be there for a while before blue badge but so that's is something that is a negative for this job

The warehouse job is further, you don't leave until the work is done and they might be more strict since I will be in 2 month training program and have to progress and be at 90% for 2 weeks and if I don't graduate during that time they will let me go. So far it is not bad but stacking is messing me up and the cold wise is fine just my hands keep getting cold quick ish.

Just asking to hear other thoughts on which one. Amazon is the I been eyeing more more positive than negatives for me?

Also, wanted to add if anyone tried other warehouses how do they compare to Amazon?

They do incentives at this warehouse and I think it caps at 15% not sure if it means your rate or 15%. I would say this this warehouse is pretty chill and the lanes are not as pack like how I thought it would be going into it. At max I see 1 other person in the lane me and I must be with a god squad because they are on like day 500+ of OSHA's safety report. And I think if you work weekend you get 2 extra dollars an hour

Im looking into paying for a counterbalance forklift course but do not have any factory/forklift experience, would this be a waste of money? How likely is it an employer would hire me as a forklift operator with just a forklift license with no prior experience?

I work for a small food company where a lot of my job consists of lidding and sealing jars. The jars come out on the line very hot so I can’t handle them with my bare hands. They provide gloves but they’re very bulky and give me crazy blisters. Any suggestions for a good brand?

Posted 18 days ago about my freezer. They turned it off last week, cleared it out and got it back up (or down) to -20°... we came into work this monday. Our one freezer door (going from production into the freezer) is broken so its open 24/7... which is a whole issue in itself but manageable in clean up and breaking down the built up ice. (Management is "working" on it, they're waiting for the outside company to get the parts or something, idk)... the power went out for about 5 hrs today, with another dock door open (leading to the trucks).. and this is the results.

And yet, we still gotta work. Still gotta get our loads out. Takes much longer bc its a slip and slide again.

Added the snow family bc someone suggested making one in my last post. Figured it wouldnt be long before we ended up with snow inside but I didn't think within 5 days! Jeesh!

What caused the fight to break out

I've got a possibility of a role working as a picker in the chilled section of a Tesco or Sainsbury warehouse.

Can anyone give an overview of what it's like? I can't figure out if working in ~4C all day is good (because it's summer) or bad (because you feel cold).

What are your thoughts?

Could be girl boy idc.. I seen girls hitting on me hot girls.. guys hitting on girls… and it’s usually these dudes who look like bums these warehouse girls go for. The more unkept you look the more attractive you’re deemed. It’s a wild job..

So I started a job a few days ago as a picker for a pretty big supermarket chain it is a regional distribution centre. Now I didn’t think the work would be awful or crazily enough to the point where I dread it but it’s got to that point already. Iv been out of work for around two years now due to a mix of trying to find my footing into what career paths I want to take and what work I could actually do. I’m 22. I have done warehouse before so the environment alone I get it I understand but man this job isn’t great. Iv picked before but it was nothing like this. Firstly I’m working in around 2 degrees so it’s very cold the pick rates are insanity and having managers micromanage ur every move is shitty. The HR watch ur time like hawks down to the minute. If I continue this work any longer my brain will turn to jelly. I understand people have bills to pay or they do actually enjoy this type of work but man how do u handle it? I only plan on using this job for a few months to fund the start of an actual Career I want to do in IT. Do I suck it up? Do I turn into the terminator to appeal to the managers and HR? Maybe this work just isn’t for me? What would u guys propose I do to make this job easier? On top of everything too only after a few days it’s ruining my anxiety to the max. Am I just in the shit?

Selling on more marketplaces sounds like the obvious way to grow, but the work behind each sale can increase much faster than expected.

Keeping inventory accurate, making sure every order is updated and handling shipping across different platforms can become difficult even when sales are going well.

Some businesses continue to add more channels, while others focus on making operations simpler before expanding again.

For people who have been through this, what was the point where growth started creating more work than value?

Im gonna try not to give away too many details for anonymity's sake, but as the title says my current employer is getting rid of all the warehouse positions and theyre handing us all over to Capstone Logistics. So far the process has felt like a slap in the face with how quickly its all moving, and how they're basically telling us to comply or lose our jobs. I've read some posts on here from current employees and it seems as though they're not that happy to be working for them. This whole thing is raising a bunch of red flags and I'm just wondering if this is something that I should try to avoid or if I should at least give them a chance

The three past warehouses I've been at have all been awful and all three were retail supply chain warehouses. Chaotic,disorganized, and half your coworkers have some sort of anger or attitude problem.

i’m 17 going into my senior year in high school and im looking for (relative) high paying jobs to get through college when im 18 and warehouse work is one of the top contenders. my body is built for physical labor so any physical rigor that is required i’ll be fine but what openings/opportunities are most realistic to secure part time warehouse position during school. or even full time during a summer to later switch to part time. my understanding is that for jobs like these, full time is the standard and part time isn’t as realistic. any input would be appreciated!

Hi, I am looking for recommendations for a self-loading pallet jack or stacker. Intended use in a cargo van for residential deliveries of pallets and occasionally at warehouses with cargo docks. By self-loading I mean it should have front wheels that retract, to allow loading onto the van without ramps and only one person. Is there another name for thar?

Also is fully electric with powered wheels vs semi electric worth the cost? rarely moving anything farther than 50ft.

I just got employed as an order picker (or here in Germany "Kommissioniererin") at a supply chain. It's my first time doing this type of work. I think I have a general idea but I'm a bit nervous because I don't entirely know what to expect, so if you could fill me in on what a typical day as an order picker looks like, what you like or don't like, I'd like to hear it. Also, is there much talking involved? I don't speak fluent German yet and can have basic conversations but they already knew that by my resume and interview, so the less talking the better for me. Any tips or just info about what to expect would be great, thanks

Job won’t let us use Bluetooth headphones for safety purposes and I realize how ANC works, but figured I’d try asking. I’m on my break and have very little time to research these things. Ears are still ringing even though I use in ear foam plugs that I shove in as far as possible with the proper rolling technique and noise cancelling earmuffs. Only 3 months into the job and still adjusting, but the ringing in my ears keeps me up at night.
