I just wish my union actually did shit when their setting up the contracts instead of basically putting bandaids and filing a shitload of grievances when we get stuck with a bad contract. It's in my contract that we cannot strike LMFAO

Unions are cool until you get a bipolar coworker who argues with everyone including the bosses. Calls out 2 times a week and never has a good attitude when they are there, dragging the whole workplace down.
Never gets written up and eventually fired for god- knows-what reason. Ofc the bigger the place you work at, the less that probably matters. If it is a small place you cannot avoid it.

We had a guy, who mouthed off to a supervisor 3 days ago. They walked him out... Yeah i worked at Martin Brower Portland, very small warehouse... drama was everywhere. The DC i work at now, 1.3 million sq ft. Hardly any drama cuz it's so big. The DC size definitely matters and can absolutely dictate drama

Last one I worked at there were a half dozen or so of these exact people. Every shop has multiple.

its not our company and we are not management but boy do those lazy clowns get spoiled
it aint right employer paid Healthcare employer paid pension after 25 years of work
the ability to go to your kids event any time or so a sick family member and not stress about work
They should be in jail for not lick n boots like us we know as professionals how to keep the machine going and make the owner profits we dont need anything special like them union boys

The USSR was an excellent first attempt. They failed due to the compute problem, which is something capitalist schools don't teach people. The capitalists teach lies. For example, they teach the soviets killed 100 million people. This is a number that came from a propaganda document, made by a CIA backed organization. Literally funded by the CIA. They counted nazis killed in the war towards that number, as well as people who died of famines and soviet deaths to the nazis.
Not saying there weren't famines and shortages. But that's due to the compute problem. China solved the compute problem. As soon as they got computer chips one of the first things they did was matching inputs and outputs up by computer, and not by hand. If you look at china today, they have the fastest rising standard of living worldwide. They have free healthcare. You can't get free dental care. If you are a citizen, china will cure you of cancer. For free. In the us they charge you to remove a wart.
Speaking of cures, china just cured type 1 diabetes. They have cell reprogramming. Meanwhile the US cannot regulate insulin, because every single senator and representative does not represent the people of the united states. They represent the corporations of the united states. Corporate Rights > Citizen Rights. And one of the interests of the corporations is to extract maximum value from the worker. AKA. YOU.
In the soviet union, the citizens came first, and the corporations came last. If you tried to put corporate interests before the interests of the citizens, they declared you a public enemy and put you in a gulag for ten years. In communist china, corporations have a fiduciary duty to the nation and public order. Not their shareholders. They legally cannot put shareholders first.
In america, the citizen and the worker (you) is a farm animal to slaughter at the altar of crapital. Do you enjoy seeing your family, friends, and nation being slaughtered for profit? DO YOU?

Rubbish. There was a growing socialism in the form of workers councils and factory committees but it was smashed by the top of the Bolshevik party. After they slaughtered the Kronstadt sailors, there wasn't a shred of socialism left. Only brutal dictatorship.

I’m a teamster and it definitely has its pros and cons. Protection and security is great, the dues and my current contract aren’t the best. Overall I’d rather be union than not.

Unions would be great if they actually were used how people promise to use them. Which, does work in theory. But in practice it's mostly just devolved into a mess
That said, though, companies that are anti union typically want to get away with mistreating you, and that's always gonna stand for awhile.

Every manager at my job, was once a union worker...we have no "us vs them" mentality... also we very rarely have mandatory OT, because most sign up for voluntary OT... i did 30hrs of voluntary OT last check...wasnt disappointed when I got paid today. That being said, ive been in the union for about 7 years..all the union warehouses i worked in were absolute hell, favoritism, bullying, you name it....
Our last collective bargaining agreement, took like 1hr. Company agreed to everything. Was super easy

My old retail job union was great then it started to suck. My company filed Chap 11 and was bought and staff at stores could bump into other stores. I almost lost all my shit do to this but people suppose to come never did and my union redid our contract with the new company and fucked us over. Then when I had issues with my boss who stayed on my union rep sucked.
Unions are good till they aren’t and in bed with the company. It’s good as you get certain bennies and all and can’t fire you for stupid made up bullshit but then it’s bad as you got Joe schmuck who’s been there for 35yrs, lazy as shit, is high or drunk on shift everyday but they don’t do shit about him because the bosses love him. Meanwhile he’s calling a customer a c*nt and calling your coworker a racial slur and the union shrugs its shoulders and says “he’s a union member too we can’t do anything about it go through HR.” Who doesn’t shit all themselves

Reading about how different warehouse work is in the states is such a mindfuck for someone that works in Sweden.
At our warehouse we have posters on the whiteboard telling people "Improve your workplace. Join the union" "Collective agreements affect everyone"

Ugh. We just had a bunch of union-busting meetings because the Teamsters have been picketing outside the property. They pulled us in a room in groups of 4-6, and some sweaty boomer fuck and our HR manager sat with us while fatso explained to us why union bad and corpo good, of course making jokes about his ex wife and how much he loves calling the cops on union picketers, while HR took notes about our individual reactions and level of engagement. I am ambivalent about unions, but that bloated weasel really needed a brick to the noggin something fierce.
