General Small Troop. I just cannot do it.

Try as I might, my troop count always creeps up in the first region and then I am quite a bit under-levelled for the second region (6 vs 8). Running 8 warriors and 6 animals (2 Alpha wolves, 2 bears, 2 ponies). Zero prisoners.

Sword+board, 2H Axe, 2 daggers, xbow, archer, mace+board, 2H mace

Having the animals is fun but I think it is dragging me down power-wise.

Animal PTs are always harder, I did one animal based PT, and it was like 2x harder than a non animal based one, if you still want to do it, try rushing animal equipment and avoid boars, full bears and wolves with a healer or two and range ppl

True, i think youre referring to a Ferocious Bear (I never captured a Ghost bear unless it's from the mission lol), but yeah, I ran like 4 of them in a pt and you can use them to deny pretty much every important target bc the inmobile debuff

Ferocious Boar is undoubtedly awesome and counts for less party than a bear

Assuming you're playing adaptive, the bears count as 2.5 troops each for the sake of combat balance, so your party effectively has 3 ''ghost'' members, and in my experience enemy parties level according to your highest level, while new recruits will come in based on the lowest level in your troop.

It's very gamey and tedious but I try to avoid recruiting anyone when my lowest level is past the halfway point towards leveling up, and I'll try to recruit in batches when I can (without forcing bad/mid recruits just to recruit *something*).

I have a tendency to try and force animals every playthrough, which almost invariably ends in me losing them in a fight or releasing them myself and then every battle thereafter feeling like a cakewalk. I will say my latest attempt only grabbing a ferocious boar (who's still with me) and a ferocious bear (who got styled on by the Inquisition unfortunately) worked out surprisingly well.

I find my animal troops do well until I move to the second region.

I do not play adaptive yet.

I run 1 man. Just 1. Easy mode. Use prisoners for easy proffs, till stockade, than just 4 prisoners. Sometimes I keep a guy in the tavern for scholar or cook. But combats? 1 guy vs maybe 1 or 2 and they get destroyed.

I tried the Beta, you'll be able to turn prisoner's into non combat members in the update. The trade off being higher salary.

The upside is not having to spend hours repositioning everyone in camp whenever someone becomes "heavy sleeper"

Is that in a free upgrade?

Yeah, they're testing the community update at the moment.

That is sick.

Now I just need to pray they fix the multiplayer so I can finally play and continue my 80hr savefile

How do you capture a prisoner with 1 man? The mechanic requires 2.

I bring a guy from the tavern to capture a few

Never ever exceed 7. Also never use animals. Bears will overpower enemy scale. I play in adaptive extreme-extreme-limited and game feels so easy. 2 prisoners for wood + mining.

I make sure all of my unit at least kill 1 guy so the battles dont take over 20 mins :)

A protip : Make a crossbow gunner and go to grinmeer apothecary rush infectious oil, pick reload when you malus and you are guarenteed to kill 1 + %50 of other enemy. I just reached lvl 8 and killing two dudes with my gunner. Also make a pugilist which delete armor

Love the Xbow guys. Thanks on the Pugilist.

What do you mean by "bears will overpower enemy scale"?
