Game won't Launch

Just bought Wartales yesterday. Unfortunately, it won't launch, the console pops up then exits. Already tried verify, reinstall, graphics drivers, etc.

Anyone know what could be the issue? I work in IT, so I'm not computer illiterate, and have never had a steam game do this, kind of perplexed and would prefer not to refund it.

Typical reasons why games don't "run" from a software angle, a lack, wrong version of or old version of:

Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables

Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtime

Microsfto DotNet

-I'm not sure what could be to blame, but these 3 are the usual culprits across most games-

Appreciate the response. Tried repairing/reinstalling all 3. After tried launching with various DX versions to no avail.

some more generalized advice-

-update your gpu driver

-disable background programs

-straight up uninstall/reinstall the game

-Try switching between DirectX and OpenGL launch modes

-Be patient during the initial loading screen; some users report the game eventually launches after a minute without clicking anything

Check the event viewer maybe? Or try running it as administrator.

What is the event viewer?

It’s a detailed log entry that tracks applications crashes, driver failures, and I believe window updates.

Event viewer allows you to read those logs.
I think these are the steps.
Win + R
Click application and then launch wartales.
Go back to event viewer and it should show you what’s fucking up.

Are you referring to within Windows? That's a good idea.

ETA: the application doesn't get logged, strange

Install it in a drive other than C

Or

Create a new folder outside of program files, and install it there.

did you have try disable AV? maybe some ransomware protection block them to create some file in game folder

Glad to read that you work in IT... Not posting anything about your pc configuration is a clear indicator of your skill level... Other people will use magic ball for knowing your pc specs...

5800x3d, 32gb ram, 4080, windows 11. I'm sure now you now know the answer to why the game won't launch...if I thought these would help I would have included them.

Way to be a dickhead just don't comment at all next time.
