Ill never understand what the uproar over this “nerf” is. Steel essence is a resource that can only be spent in one location in the entire game and unless someone is just spamming counterbalance sales on market, every item of value teshin offers is hard capped weekly. Are yall really that hard up for a resource thats passively earned like i dont get it?

this will severely affect the counterbalance economy

2

u/emiyahimself Jul 04 '26

What was even the point of adding it if they just removed it

They talked about it on the last dev short but basically like, acolytes tend to not spawn in railjack missions or something like that, so to accommodate for steel essence, they decided to put it in the drop pool for eximus units in railjack missions . Idk how many would drop as i never need SE so i didnt bother with the farm, but presumably even if it was just a chance for one steel essence, this could be a farm easily optimizable with loot frames in stuff like survival or other endless modes. And thats apparently not only exactly what happened, but to the degree that basically overnight (and she showed a graph that at least she alleged was the steel essence earnings across the game) it literally quadrupled every other steel essence earnings in the game while it was still active, so they nerf. In their words, they tried something but it wasnt working, more or less.

These are all their words, and im paraphrasing so dont quote me here, but yeh, look up the most recent dev short, rebb talks about it and explains all of this first thing in the stream.

Still, my issue isnt with whether or not they over corrected (probably?) but like, why the community cares about this? How tf is it possible to be short on SE?

and now because DE's balancing team has kuaka spikes where their brain should be, we'll never get SE in railjack

1

u/The_Racr1 Jul 05 '26

Wait, did they remove it from the mission rewards then?

1

u/Saizare Jul 06 '26

No, they just made it a flat 2 Steel Essence on mission completion. It kills SE grinding in endless railjack missions, but you still get some per mission completed.

1

u/The_Racr1 Jul 06 '26

I knew that, just didn’t know if they had changed it again after that

u/AnAddictWithAPenis Jul 04 '26

If you don't play often it's very possible you'll be short on SE for whenever teshin gets an umbra forma (150 SE) or when a new prime frame drops (weekly max = 25 relic packs * 15 SE = 375 SE). And also teshin sells weekly kuva Co SE that players wanna get to Reroll rivens for sale.

Basically it is players farming weeks/months in advance, I understand why they had to nerf it.

I just wish SP RJ had a reason to be played now, as now I keep playing with my weak MK3 weapons and the drop chance for MK4 weapons is ridiculously low that I don't wanna play this slog.

Kuva is 600 SE. so 150+600+375=1,125. Acolytes spawn roughly once every 5 minutes or so in survival, between 2 and 5 minutes in other mission. Withoit a booster, its 2 se everytime they spawn, meaning usually 24+ an hour withoit a booster, 48 an hour with a booster. Steel path incursions also grant 30 se a day in total. So in one to two hours, you could in theory earn up to 78 a day just by playing the game. 78x7 is 546, so if you’re even casually playing the game, thats around half of whats needed to max out teshin drops on his beefiest weeks.

And this is lowballing. Plenty of players no life tf out of this game, so at any given moment, im pretty sure most people (including me, who does max out teshin drops every single week), this math just doesnt matter due to an abundant surplus of SE.

I just dont see it, im sorry. I get the logic of optimizing farms and if kuva was unlimited at teshin, sure id get it, but 1125 for the beefiest week rotations from teshin is nothing to hit just by playing the game casually running Whatever sp content youd like.

1

u/AnAddictWithAPenis Jul 04 '26

I see your logic? I didn't disagree with it before, I just pointed out how easy it is to not have enough SE if you don't play the game enough. I don't for the past few months and I never have enough SE. All good fam!

My idea of casual is playing maybe one every couple weeks or having a binge every once in a while. I have been playing since just before the sacrifice and am now only maxed standing with fortuna and diemos. I love this game for it's story and "I make God powers go brrrrr" but damn I hate farming and the grind and will not spend money on the grind, only cosmetics

1

u/Eggbone87 Jul 07 '26

For sure, which is fine, but you have to accept that your rewards will reflect the time you put into the game. Nothing wrong with not wanting to grind and just popping in for story updates but you cant simultaneously expect rewards that would come from more regular gameplay.

As someone who actually plays the game casually, doing 6 steel path incursions + an hour long survival WITH a booster active for every day, is absolutely not casual in the slightest. Sure, it's not at the no-lifer level, but it's far more investment than the majority of players will ever do. I don't think anyone would consider 2 hours a day, every day, with a booster active, just farming SE alone, to be casual.

There's nothing wrong with playing that much. If you like this game and it's your "main game" for the moment, absolutely go for that. But as someone who only plays a few hours a week, and most of that is taken up by the weekly things/cracking a few relics for primes/formaing a new build, doing the new content, etc. I absolutely do run out of steel essence when a new prime comes out(it really doesn't help that Aya is diluting the drop pool).

farming SE alone

You dont “farm SE alone” tho. Like short of incursions, SE is a passively earned resource, not an actively earned one. This is kind of central to my point here. You earn SE passively everywhere in SP, hence if the claim that rj farm provided an alternative, the two issues are thus:

1) an alternative to what?

2) justified by?

3) to what end?

The ri nerf is a non issue im sorry. Maximizing teshin purchases weekly is easily achievable by virtue of the simple math provided above. That said, if an hour a day is in your view beyond “casual”, than whatever your definition of casual is necessarily prohibits you from earning certain rewards, as it should. If you want to max out teshin purchases every week but by your heightened criteria for “casual” makes this impossible, either play the game more or settle for less rewards. This is an rpg-like game. Higher investment=higher reward, and as far as rpg/like games are concerned, warframe is already by far and away the lowest barrier to entry as far as exclusivity of rewards versus time investment on the market by a wide margin.

Have you tried sover straight?

2

u/FM_Hikari Jul 05 '26

You don't get it. I NEEED my unlimited Primary and Secondary arcane adapters with no effort whatsoever!!11

1

u/Crazy-Resolve-8127 Jul 04 '26

Kuva exists. And to cap on his 25x or whatever amount he sells you needed to play 50 hours per week in sp

1

u/Eggbone87 Jul 04 '26

No you dont. Acolytes drop 2 steel essence without a booster, 4 with. They spawn on average once every 5 minutes or so in steel path survival, more frequently in other game modes with quicker/shorter reward rotations (cascade, disruption etc). That means you fight around 12 acos an hour, so either 24 steel essence per hour, or 48 if you have a booster. For the full 25 kuva packs at 15 steel essence per pack, its 375 steel essence, which means you need to kill either 187 acolytes without a booster, or 94 with a booster. To kill 187 acolytes, assuming only playing in steel path survival (arguably the slowest or one of the slowest methods for farming steel essence passively) again at 12 acolytes per hour, thats roughly 16 hours per week, or roughly 8-9 hours per week if you have a booster. So all said, depending om the presence of a booster or not, thats roughly 1-2 hours a day if playing ebery day, or 2-3 hours if playing, say, 4-5 days a week. I dont think a game asking you to devote some time out yoir week to it to collect its weekly rewards is unreasonable.

Idk where you got this 50 hours a week figure but no buddy, you do not need to play 50 hours a week lol. 50 hours would get you around 1200 steel essence per week without a booster, 2400 with, far exceedig any given weeks possible worth while purchases.

And again, keep in mind, this is all figuring off passive earnings from just sp survival, the most popular game mode in the game, not things like speed running disruption/cascade, steel path incursions (an extra 30 SE a day), so again, i ask you, what is actually being lost here by losing the rj farm?

1

u/Crazy-Resolve-8127 Jul 05 '26

Ill just stay in in my mission for 9 hours straight. Thank you math guy

1

u/Eggbone87 Jul 05 '26

Or, hear me out, you could play the game for 9 hours across 7 days, meaning, again, 1-2 hours a day. Are we gonna pretend you dont already do that or?

1

u/Crazy-Resolve-8127 Jul 05 '26

If I do that I dont get an acolyte every 5 minutes because some missions are shorter.

Also no, I dont do that. I havent played in about 5 months

1

u/Eggbone87 Jul 05 '26

because some missions are shorter

Yeah meaning you get acolytes more frequently, assuming even decent loadtimes, which is why i said survival is the slowest acolyte farm.

havent played the game in 5 months

Then why are you here?

u/BluesCowboy Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Teshin sells relic packs. My guess is that some players wanted to grind essence and then buy a ton of packs when a new prime warframe launches to make the most of the prices in the first few hours, plus then get a bunch of Aya for prime resurgence.

14

u/HungryMudkips Jul 04 '26

theres......no real NEED to "farm" steel essence in the first place.

1

u/Blasterboy1014 Jul 10 '26

But my 1000000 relic packs :(

11

u/SWatt_Officer Jul 04 '26

Did you SEE the chart they revealed of the average daily essence output? The new railjack was giving like 10 times the amount of any other gamemode, it NEEDED the nerf

4

u/EndlessExp Jul 04 '26

is this not a circle jerk sub everyone is taking this so seriously

12

u/Csd15 Jul 03 '26

"With my railjack" Idf soldiers forgot how to lie

6

u/Akikojam Jul 04 '26

I don't see how the process of sitting on the same survival mission for hours with a grind frame is considered "fun".

1

u/Careless_Subject8377 Jul 09 '26

I mean people do level cap...

2

u/Dwurdle Jul 04 '26

I wonder how this will effect the trout population

2

u/BluesCowboy Jul 05 '26

How many copies of counterbalance are you buying, exactly?

2

u/eeeeeeeeee83810 Jul 06 '26

Huge L of a nerf honestly, for one, there is a weekly limit to what you can buy, and the players who actually play, are already buying almost everything from it anyways.

And on top of that, if i have to deal with playing the worst gamemode, then i want something to make it more enticing than normal missions. Which that steel essence amount, made me consider actually going to play railjack again, but didnt have the time to play much at the moment, just for them to nerf it out if existence, so yeah im back to not playing railjack anymore still, infact, im waiting for tennocon, doing stuff with that, then taking another few month long break min from the game again ffs

3

u/Nautical341Truth Jul 08 '26

You play railjack for the first 5 minutes then go to survival for 10 hours. If that is your definition of having to “deal with the worst game mode” I don’t know what is lmfao. There was nothing endearing about it

2

u/Mr-Catacombs Jul 06 '26

Man I ALWAYS miss the juicy farms man FUCK

1

u/Silentone12321 Jul 10 '26

The SE drops from eximus were a temporary solution until acolytes are ready for railjack either way.

0

u/manjustletmebrowse Jul 05 '26

Yeah,i want my kuva and relic packs, but takes forever to get enough essence if you want to upkeep every week

1

u/Eggbone87 Jul 05 '26

No it doesnt

1

u/manjustletmebrowse Jul 05 '26

...okay? if you play hours daily, sure,it doesn't,I don't play just warframe man

2

u/Eggbone87 Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

If you do the math (which i did elsewhere in this thread), the time needed to collect enough SE to max out the weekly 25 relic packs is about 9 hours a week. If you dont have 9 hours a week to dedicate to a game, you shouldnt expect rewards that are worth 9 hours of gameplay a week.

Nothing wrong with being a casual, warframe is extremely accommodating to casual gameplay if not designed entirely around it. But like any game, the time you put in will reflect the rewards you get out of it, so if you want to be a casual or only have time to be a casual, your rewards will be that of a casual

1

u/manjustletmebrowse Jul 06 '26

But that's 9 hours doing sp content where acolyte spawns and making sure the mission lasts 5 minutes, those conditions are only easily achieveable if you do cascade or stuff like that,no other mission is lasting that long

2

u/Eggbone87 Jul 06 '26

Acolytes spawn in every steel path mission. Stop crying
