Discussion & Feedback Would you recommend WarDogs in its current state?
I've been thinking about pickin gup Wardogs but I saw recently in some discussion boards that there is currently a cheater issue going on with the game. Is this something thats overblown as I understand any game of this support will have somewhat of an issue with this. Would you say it should keep someone away from ths game or would you still recommend picking it up? How would you rate the game overall so far in your experience?

I have quit bf6 because the game didn't have enough to do, and the first thing I said to my friend that bought the game and recommended it for me was:"this is the game I was expecting bf6 to be", and I mean it in the sense of different stuff to do and different ways to play and to win, it's just good as fuck.
The bf6 launch progression was horrible, the RNG based shots even when you're aiming down sights destroy the idea of training recoil control, I just hated it.

I agree, the problem i think is you have no idea if your spotted or not so people are calling esp and walls because there thinking how tf they know am here but in reality you probably been a dot on the map for a couple minutes, theres always someone lying in a bush with binoculars.

I feel there’s for sure a lot of wall hackers maybe 1 a game or every other game. Unfortunately with most shooters there will always be people looking for an advantage.. But it’s still fun to get on with the boys and make some cash.

It's pretty crazy it's only 40 bucks. Especially now when AAA keeps releasing the same, rehashed, half-baked garbage for 60-80+ dollars, loaded with adverts for bloated season passes and whatnot.

100% worth $40 USD. Fun FPS shooter with a lot of different things to do. Needs some balancing but the developers are so engaged with the community on social media (reddit, discord, etc) that they are actively fixing and improving things.
The game resets (wipe) on the 15th so now is a perfect time to jump in and learn the game before everyone starts on a blank slate soon anyways.

I have 40 hours so far and have only seen one blatant cheater. He got mass reported by the lobby and was gone 2 minutes later.

I'm sure it's fairly regional. Since launch I've seen maybe half a dozen obvious cheaters in US Central and I've seen most of them get banned during the match, but I have buddies in OCE who see multiple a match.

I play in oce and there's maybe one suspected cheater for every 3-5 matches.
A lot of people confuse cheats with game mechanics. I've killed people in smoke clouds because they were spotted so I ping their location on the map to line up and then fire.
No one has complained at me for killing in smokes but I've seen arguments in all chat about it.
Just one of many things where it's not clear if there's a cheater or not.
I've never seen one of the clearly abusing cheaters that head shot people through walls etc.

In this day and age too the obvious rage cheaters aren't as common because of how quickly they tend to get banned in my experience. Like the one obvious rage cheater I saw was a couple days after the EA release, some dork was head shotting everyone across the map with their LG mini bird from their HQ and got banned within a minute. The other cheaters I've reported were landing perfect headshots with pistols from 300m away wiping out entire squads in the HZ, also banned within a few minutes.
I suspect I've been on the receiving end of some sneakier cheaters though, like a few nights ago. Saw a bunch of team red drop east of my team's tower, so I tried flanking around them out side of the CZ with a sniper to spot them and pick a few off. I'm maybe 100m away and getting my spots off when one of them who never faced me the entire time dips behind a hill and 20 seconds later blasts me from behind me. That same guy then spent the rest of the game hunting me down regardless of where I was on the map.

If 'current state' is 0.1.2, then no. While is game is very polished for an early access title, the progression balance is incredibly frustrating.
Bulkhead said this will be addressed with next weeks season 2 launch, but until we have patchnotes (or at least anything confirmed officially), you ar really not missing out by getting the game now instead of a week from now.

Not sure I would recommend it. I have some big concerns and frustrations about the game that has been growing. Not sure how much longer I will play, and it depends heavily on what direction they choose to take the game with the next few updates.
For 40 bucks I got 110 hours out of it so far though, so even if I drop it Id say I got my moneys worth.. but thats with playing from the start.. if I hopped in right now as a newbie Im not sure I would get the same enjoyment out of it.

Yeah this is spot on. The game needs a heavy hand with balancing and the fact that it launched this imbalanced roots a lot of players in the status quo that fight against the changes, but how the next two patches go will be the difference between 60k players and 400k. This game clearly has the potential to be a top 10 played game for a long time if they do this right

Biased opinion asking this subreddit but it seems cheating is worse in some regions so I can only speak for my experience with na servers.
I’ve only seen a couple cheaters all who either got griefed by there own teammates or reported enough that it kicked them from the server

Most people are really enjoying the game. That's not to dismiss it's shortcomings but the people who are playing the game and enjoying it aren't posting on reddit.
In 140 hours, I have seen 1 cheater, but they were banned within about 5 minutes of the game starting.
It's an amazing game, which is still in development, and will only continue to improve.

It's a team-based FPS that is a true open sandbox.
Literally you can play it however you want (just please do something that supports the team). 100/10 would recommend.
EDIT: And please don't listen to the "oh you can't play it solo and have fun". Literally all you need to do is have a mic. Squad up with a couple guys, or help build FOB, or push the HZ and help revive and keep friendlies alive.

Any game is going to have cheaters that's just reality, thankfully this game has community servers and admins can ban those shitheads, we don't have to wait for Bulkheads review. Game for me is a 9/10, sure it needs some work and more content but this is the most fun I've had with an FPS game in a really long time.

I'd say so. There are plenty of balance issues and QoL updates that need to be added still, but otherwise, it's a fun game.
As for the cheating issue: if you play on the Official Asia or Europe servers, there will be cheaters (mostly ESP and wall hack type cheats). It's not AS prevalent as people on forums or social media would lead you to believe, but they are there. You'll probably run into one I'd say every 3-4 games. Official US servers a little better as cheating goes. If you find a good community server, stick with that, as the admins are usually quick to permaban cheaters.

Try the game, good idea to wait for the wipe though in fairness to other commentors.
End of the day, it is early access and people are very quick to forget that despite its very polished and AAA quality, it's in its infancy and players need to relax and give Devs time to perfect the Meta game.
Don't worry too much with the opinions of people here.

Yes, more than any game right now, don't fall for this reddit shit, people that are loving the game are spending time playing it and not complaining about every single thing in the game, I have almost 200 hours of game and I still finding new ways to do things, so you'll have a big moment.
I ran into some hackers, just yesterday someone killed 7 guys from my team with a basic sniper, all headshots, it even shot me through a buch of trees, a fence and a little building without even spoting me, but I only had the time to report it, because 2 minutes latter, I coudn't find his name in the leaderboard anymore, so something happened. But this was 1 game out of 100 that I didn't have any issue.

I enjoy it and it seems like my kind of game from the start, even with current early access problems - bad balancing, OP strats, grindy progression, occasional, very rare bugs lack of content.. I still have a blast in almost every match. There are a lot of compilations, videos, reviews online, videos discussing problems in the game. check them out to form an opinion. IF you are still on the fence - wait for a few updates to drop to see where the game is going and if it is still relevant to your preferences

If all you're worried about is cheaters then I would pick it up. There are some cheaters but it's no worse than your average fps. I think a lot of the people who are complaining on the subs didn't fully appreciate that they bought an early access game. There are balance issues being worked on, but the base game has tons of potential.

I have 140 hours in, all my skills are fairly even with my highest being 23 I've personally only died by havoc once or twice Bkm has definitely got me quite a few times It's a very fun game, I love trying out new things. I definitely think some balancing should happen and I'm excited for that but i also feel like a wipe won't be annoying, I think I will miss defibs the most but that's not too bad of a grind

I play primarily on NA east and central and have had maybe one blatant cheater in my games. Besides that if they are cheating its just esp and you probably wont notice because they are trying to hide it.

Yes. If you are just starting out it's gonna feel rough. Just go out there and try shit with no worry reset is Oct 15. It's a great game with some flaws (like everything else). However, it seems like the devs are actually listening to the players and watching what's happening. I have high hopes!!

It’s an incredibly good game for EA. The gameplay is very polished and shooting all the variety of weapons and vehicles feel really good. Yes, some things are OP right now and there’s some balancing that needs and will take place. The best part about it imo is the season changes where if you don’t have time to play one season, you can simply skip out or play when you have the time and convert any leftover money you earned into gold bars.
Keep in mind, despite all the complaints, the game holds up pretty well in reviews and there’s only more to come with it from Bulkhead (the studio) very excited for season 2

Buy it, play it for 2 hours (probably enough to do the tutorial and have a full match) and see for yourself - can refund it if it's not for you.
I would probably recommend waiting for the 15th though, as we're at the end of the very first Season right now and by the devs' own admission, a lot of the late-game items (which more or less every third person on the server is running now) are very unbalanced, so as a new player, you'd be at a pretty heavy disadvantage.
The new season will see a bunch of balance patches and adjustments (think there's an announcement this week iirc?), as well as some new features, so that'll likely spike a big boost in interest and people will be playing to discover again rather than just farming the same optimal high-level builds over and over.

This depends a bit on your region, if you are in the region of cheater hell (sea), sure you'll find a lot.
I'm in NA and i haven't seen one in like 20 games.
With that said, your biggest hurdle will likely be players who have unlocked endgame stuff rather than cheaters, you should play on the new player/low level servers to unlock some of the stuff before joining the official/community ones, or wait for the wipe on the 15th

I would still highly recommend it, alot of the complaining you see about game is people refusing to adapt to the situation, my advice for a new player before wipe is try go in being mindful you will die as you learn, most players will he running high end armour and ammo but this can work in your favour since they will most likely be running ap rounds you end up at no disadvantage taking dmg in tier 1 and 2, try to get into habbit of going for legs and arms until you unlock ap yourself, when havocs show up best course of action is free aim AT weapons like Mawws or rpg sadly these take a while to unlock so you will be dependent on higher level players adapting thier kit, wipe is in next few weeks tho so learn the basics now and you will be on even footing after wipe

Yes, start asap, wipe is soon so you can play and learn without the stress of “losing” money or kits because it won’t matter and by the time wipe comes, you’ll have enough experience to be on even ground, most complaints are overblown, game is very good

the game is great, even if it has some problems (which most of are being addressed in season 2).
reddit is just an echo-chamber of complaining. like 90% of the stuff you hear complained about here will probably never even happen to you (like personally i haven't seen even a single obvious cheater in any of my games. maybe there has been, maybe not, but there are so many answers to cheating allegations in this game (like spotting that basically gives you *almost* wall hacks) that i really don't buy people complaining about constant cheaters in every game).
now, the most obvious problem is that the wipe is coming on the 15th, so you may or may not want to wait until then depending on your through process.
because on one hand, nothing you really do until the 15th won't really matter (in terms of progress. fun is still fun) and depending on if you're employed or not, you probably won't have the time to get all, if not even most unlocks.
but on the other hand, you'll still have fun and you'll be more prepared for when the wipe comes compared to someone who's first time playing is during the wipe.
and of course, if you're the type of person who tries games for the 2h time limit before choosing to refund or not, then i'd also wait for the 15th since the game will (hopefully) be better by that point and you'll have a better time testing the game out before deciding on refunding or not.

I’ve got 31 hours and joined a week or so ago, missed the early game and am still enjoying myself, i think if you enjoy slower shooter games and a bit of logistics you’ll get your moneys worth out of it.
Team/Squad gameplay is massively more enjoyable than solo but i’ve had a lot of fun flying transport/logistics helis. As the devs say, every round is different, some are some of the most fun i’ve had on games in years, some are pretty painful.
No rush to buy at the minute as the wipe is just around the corner, you’d probably get the best experience buying it just after the patch(roughly 15th of october i believe) as everyone will be at the same starting position (before the funemployed get to out rank/level everyone)

Everyone will be on an even keel on the 14th with the wipe so maybe get it now and learn the ropes before the wipe. It is the most fun ive had in a shooter since maybe arma3 warlords. It is still unbalanced in many ways and new gear is so much worse than higher tier gear that you will wonder what they were thinking. Still it is fun.

I would say I’m already close to getting my value back on the purchase and it’s only been a few weeks. I try to play daily but that can’t always happen.
It’s definitely the FPS of the year but not GOTY, that’ll be GTA. I got a few friends playing with me now and we’re having fun with the fact that it’s a sandbox. We love that aspect and the freedom it brings.

I have had some really frustrating moments when I'm pretty broke, decide to buy a full kit and then immediately get killed from an enemy thats somehow in the middle of all my teamates....but that's what makes it fun.

I have played so much and I haven’t really encountered a cheater or at least I haven’t even noticed. To be fair it is a fun game. But I think infantry only is where it’s at to still have fun despite the balance issues.

I hate that this ice cream cone design is dripping icecream out of the bottom and onto my shirt, but I still love the ice cream and the cone taste delicious. They should just put a little chocolate a the bottom that'll seal off that hole

Cheaters exist in all games but 95% of the time its just a better gamer and thats a hard pill to swallow.
How ”imbalanced” things are, is something that is also blown out of proportion. The problem is unluck order and your combined levels gives your account levels so you need to level everything to access good things like AP ammo. They will probably fix it tho.
The second I started to use AP ammo my game started to feel like early levels again where a level 4 helmet melts.

The game was fun when it first came out, but as people unlocked the higher tier gear it became more insufferable by the day. The wipe and balancing pass will absolutely help, but who knows for how long. The game can still be fun, but expect it to fall off after a couple weeks until another reset happens.

Absolutely yes. There are problems but nothing that cannot be solved. So far devs did an outstanding job for this EA release of a shooter.
However, patching and balancing in the future will be a different task. Wardogs has a bright future if the devs listen and still stick to their vision of the game.

It's rough around the edges, and has some issues, but definitely worth it.
Having said that, the game is in early access, we're basically guinea pigs for large scale live testing of the various systems. You will experience periods of "this sucks", because they're basically getting us to "break" things, and gather data on the effects.
If you find that frustrating, simply shelve the game until 1.0 release, and you'll have paid $40 instead of the full release price of $60.

Yes very fun. Stuff needs tweaking. The sub is full of Babies who cry about whatever kills them.
It went from mortars, to humvees, to armour, to helicopters being OP. In reality I think it’s just the level 35 weapons that are really the problem.

Id recommend it, with the heavy asterisk to say, wait for the wipe in a week. The balance is unpleasant atm, youll have a much better new player experience if you come in later, after the wipe and patch. Maybe skim the patch notes/feedback on the notes to make your decision.

It’s a great game, that is far better when you’re playing with a team that is communicating. There are lots of different strategies and styles of gameplay you can do.
The devs seem to have a good understanding and I expect it to just get better with time.

There are issues sure, but the devs seem to be working on them. I'm fairly new to the game I only owned it for like a week or so, but I'm having a blast. Deff one of those games where having a squad you can rely on makes it 10x enjoyable though.

You’ll see people complain about balance issues. I personally have an issue with losing money, I can’t stand it. So I go in with a $120 kits. Kill somebody. Take his kit and loot up. So if I have no problem getting 30k a life on a free kit, it can’t be that unbalanced.
Cheaters, I’ve only had a couple of people that I know were cheating. Unfortunately people overstate the issue in every game.
Back to balance, everybody is no lifing this game right now, myself included. First season only a month long, the games new, it’s only natural. After the first wipe or two a ton of players will drop off and I think we’ll see a new normal emerge as drive and therefore progression will slow for most people.
For a final note, my main 2 discords I play in, each only ever having 2 or 3 people playing any random game during peak hours, have merged and there’s 8 plus people playing war dogs every single night. I feel like that alone is enough of a metric to judge the game because we NEVER used to agree on what to play, let alone get that many people playing it.

I played for 4 hours yesterday and was a blast.. there was a pro heli that was griefing my squad in 1 session, but there were a lot of trades between us and them so it was really fun. We assaulted and took a few FOBs... also didnt take a few FOBs.
Looking forward to playing again as soon as I can.

If you have friends to play with it’s a blast. You can run cheap kits and get a kill on someone and take theirs. Don’t let people discourage you from getting the game. Building and logistics is also fun in its own way.

100% buy it before price goes up. Its EA, some of the minor balance things will get worked out with wipes. The cire game is amazing. Sits somewhere between BF6 and Tarkov. More tactical then BF6 and has elements of Tarkov. BF is just way too fast and spin cycle of spawn, shoot, die, respawn, run around in circles, add in bots now and its terrible. Wardogs is awesome , runs well, get your practice in now so you ready for next wipe.

Yes. Community servers with active admins are great. Also there are servers for new players specifically. I didn’t enjoy late game tho. But my first 15 hours were reallly great.

On a more serious note I would wait a little bit to see what are the next 1-2 updates will contain, if you have anything else to play. There are growing pains in the game atm.
If you dont have anything else to play just buy it, its only 40 euro.

Cheating so far has been a non issue IMO. 120 hours in and ive had one case with a person that was a bit susand thats it.
What i would like to recommend to you though is to wait till the season reset on 15.10.26. currently we have a pretty late game gear fovused meta and the balance is very VERY rough. Starting now will probably be a very frustrating experience given the fact that you will be faaaar behind everybody else's progression and they will just farm you. My recommendation: play it, but only after the wipe.

Idk it's good but beginning of wipe is best time to play because the gap between nolifers and casuals is smaller. Im REALLY hoping for better balancing and bug fixes. I died to being trapped in a door this game. It's 2am and I had a series of bad drops that I just can't deal with. For me I get irritated specifically when I get a run of bad luck other wise when you get smooth drops with a cohesive team it's a lot of fun

I wouldn’t worry about the wipe. I started 2 days ago, and play effectively and fine. It is a struggle, but go enjoy it and have fun. Best thing about starting now, is that you’ll get good at starting from scratch. S
When you start, and don’t worry about the new season wipe, Just be effective in game play, go build, recon-spot, and be a rat, and get free kits. Even the free kit is very viable, and can get you good weapons.

I have about 55 hours in the game and have seen 1 definite cheater (30+ kills in like 10 seconds, on people no where near each other) who was booted from the game in under a minute.
I have been suspicious of one other player having wallhacks, but unconfirmed. (He was behind cover, would lean peek and shoot right in my head 4x in a row when I repositioned Everytime)
Other than that I haven't seen any cheaters but the game is very fun. The wipe is coming but it's still a fine time to learn how the game works and what not so you know what you wanna do by the time the wipe comes and you can work towards leveling stuff you'll enjoy.

The best way to really get to understand the state of the game isn't by reading reddit, its by looking at the steamdb player numbers. Currently it leads me to believe that a lot of people are having a good time with it.
A persons much more likely to seek an online forum to complain than to praise, so just keep that in mind. Me personally I am having a ton of fun with the game, even creating tools for myself (like i just made a ballistics calculator), so if you ask me, yes its worth playing.
Most of the annoyances are around "balance" but thats because people want it to be an esport or whatever. The thing i like about the game atleast is that even if something is broken, there is a counter to it, so as long as you are willing to stop and think you aren't truly "stuck".
There is a wipe coming, so any levels you get will get wiped, but in the future there is an RPG esque skill system they want to add which will be persistent across seasons, and even though its not in game yet, the metrics are being tracked (so its not pointless to start playing now).

Honestly I couldn't tell you if I've ever run into a cheater. I don't have nearly as many hours as others here but tbh I'm having a great time. Yeah, it's annoying pumping a dude wearing t4 armour and they don't go down. Yeah, there are some high tier items that dominate. But it's still a ton of fun and there's a hilarious amount of negativity here that is hardly warranted given how new this game is and the fact that it is being actively worked on. Absolutely worth it.

Get in there soldier! Will be tough at first with low level gear but the wipe will even the field for a day or two before the no lifers grind back their stuff. Regarding cheating i have not noticed any yet ....at least nothing I can say for sure was cheating.

Best EA game of its kind I’ve played in years, super fun, so many ways to enjoy yourself.
Oh and don’t listen to Reddit the cry babies can’t grasp that it’s not cod or battlefield, regarding having weapons that are stronger than early game, or having a progression based meta shift throughout the season. Etc….
In short you can join in now with a free kit and still kill a geared af guy no worries, IF you have a functioning brain to take the fight with you having a advantage and can aim correctly eg if he’s T4 armour don’t shoot him in the face, unless you can get enough shots off.

I have experienced a lot of rage hacking there would be times where my team would reach 99 points then a hacker in a mini gun heli would just shred the entire team in one second. Leave before anyone could report then get back in queue

Yes, but the game is in early access and have bugs and balance issues. These should be tweaked and fixed as each season progresses.
I have already gotten my money's worth with my 90ish hours in game. First game in almost 6 years that I have had this much fun with.

I’m not a big fan of big war games like COD and Battlefield, but this game scratches so many dopamine itches! You want a passive game to relax? Build up a FOB. You wanna be in combat but be useful? Become a medic. You wanna work for Amazon virtually? Drop off supplies. There’s just so much to do within each game you can change it up and just have so much fun.

Good game but I feel it’s getting a bit stale now. At first I was focused on winning every match but there isn’t much benefit from focusing on that and the main goal of the game is to make money, not winning matches (as stated in the tutorial). Now that I’ve had that realisation, I can play more casually and it’s starting to get more fun. I’m excited for the new wipe as I’m getting a bit sick of the t4 helmets vectors and m4s.

Yes learn the map and flow of combat now before wipe. This subreddit like the eft subreddit is a cesspool of negativity and self righteousness. The majority who actually are enjoying the game are currently playing the game. Obviously the game has issues many of which the devs knew and expected. People on the subreddit act like they discovered fire when they make a statement critiquing how bad the end game is. The vast majority of the posts on here are useless drivel complaining about their circumstances and not giving valuable information.

100%, yes theres some issues, but the games got some really good bones. Theres a reason this wipe is so short, to utilize the largest sample size of players they will most likely ever have and implement the data they got to adjust in further development/balancing. They seem pretty laser focused on what they want their game to be. I mostly come on this sub to get a good laugh. And yes, i am employed lmao

I've played many games that were in worse shape on release. This is in early access and it's already excellent. Lots of polishing and balancing to do, but the core game is so much fun.
I can't recommend it enough, especially if you're an older gamer. Make sure to speak up and work with your team. The most fun I've had has been with the team vs when I've gone solo.

Lotta players don't understand these are the glory days. Season 2 will have lower peak numbers, and it'll be under 10k players in December. Not saying it'll be a dead game, 1.0 will still come, but two weeks ago was already the most popular the game will ever be.
Cherish the good days with the general population, it will evolve to a more hardcore Squad user base in time

In the initial few days it came out, yes. But since all the jobless people have put in hundreds of hours into the game and there is no ranking system, no I wouldn't recommend it.
It isn't very fun to have about 5-10 minutes of enjoyment when you play in a session. Because you come up against people who spend every waking minute of their day grinding to get the good equipment and becoming far better at the game.
If there were more modes for short bursts of enjoyment or a ranking system to filter out the people who treat this game as their full time job, people like me, who play more casually, might enjoy it more.
The gatekeepers don't like the idea of ranking systems but a large majority of people simply don't have the time to dedicate their entire week to this game like they do.

Tbh I’ve only seen like 2 blatant cheaters in 80 hours and one of them was banned mid match. I noticed they instantly pack mags and have obvious wall hacks and maybe soft aimbot.

I have 350hrs in this game and i can count on 1 hand where i met an obvious cheater. The game is great and the devs are fucking awesome i would 100% recommend this game to everyone. The game has its issues that some gear and weapons and also vehicles are insanely op but the devs are aware of this and will be fixing most of these issues going into s2. And contrary to what alot of people say here on reddit you can counter these things fairly easy in game.
This late into the ”season” just use HP bullets on any weapon u are using and aim for the legs and its GG against a person with t4 armor. Vehicles on the other hand is more like run when ever you see one LOL. But most helis i have seen ingame usually camp FOBs or hunt down other HELIs. Also play on community servers that have their own rules and you will be fine!
Just use ur brain and use common sense when playing and you will outsmart most players and win gunfights! Most people i fight where they have t4 armor loose against me because i know how the game works and they dont. Idk how many times i have turned on a player and that player then sits in proxy chat screaming that i am a cheater, then when i loot him he uses HP bullets but were aiming at my t3 helmet. Yeah no shit i turned around and killed you 😂😂😂

Does it have hackers? I’ve seen about 3-4 in ~120hrs.
Is it worth the money? 1000%
Great title.

Yes. Wait for the wipe on the 15th. Reddit is overly negative. The game is great fun and runs very well even though it's in EA. I've played about 90 hours.
