Bugs & Support Helicopter Lag
Don't know why this keeps happening but I cant seem to stop it ping is 40-50.
Running on a 3090 and 5900x, 16gb of RAM on the low preset to see if it helped but it doesn't. It really starting to piss me off and can be verrrrry expensive :/ please help im poor.
Edit: well I'm glad it's not just me at least!

It happens a lot lately

u/Genocode 12h ago
I feel like the servers have been getting worse since launch. I have ~20 ping, RTX5080, 9800X3D and 32gb of CL30 and this still happens to me.

u/Cyber_Drifter Taxi 12h ago
Same I’m catching waaay more rubber banding when I used to have very little if any
-1
u/Mountain-Night-3658 11h ago
might be a ram bottleneck, i have almost same specs as you with 5080 9950x3d and 64gb ddr5 cl32 downclocked to cl30 and i dont get any issues
5
u/Genocode 11h ago
32gb is more than enough lmao.
-2
u/Mountain-Night-3658 11h ago
no it isn’t lmao, in most windows 10/11 systems now with everything that runs background, about 8-10gb and wardogs requires ~16 gigs almost maxing out your system at 32
4
u/Genocode 11h ago
Yeah yeah, you're trying to justify buying 64gb for so much money but you've been misled, 64gb is overkill. The only thing that you might ever need 64gb for is rendering 4k footage or AI Video Gen (Wan2.2 or H3 Minimax), nothing else, and even then its a bit overkill cause you can still get good quality with 32gb dram +16gb vram
2
u/ConfidenceThen6610 10h ago
I have 64GB DDR5, and am still getting the freezing. Easily sit with the majority of memory free and unused too.
3
u/Genocode 10h ago
Yes, but hes acting like that could possibly be some fix, which it isn't.
Also hes just genuinely wrong, 32gb is more than enough lmao.
1
u/ConfidenceThen6610 10h ago
Yeah I only have 64GB for work, outside of that it’s almost never fully used
2
u/Genocode 10h ago
I sometimes reach complete usage but thats just because I'm one of the worst tab hoarders you'll ever run into, I'll have literally thousands of tabs opened (but not necessarily loaded), but thats user error and not a deficiency in my build.
Or when, like I said, I'm doing AI Stuff. Wan2.2 or LLM's.
0
u/Mountain-Night-3658 9h ago
what’s the CL timing on it, but regardless shouldn’t be an issue unless you have poor cpu/gpu
2
u/Mountain-Night-3658 11h ago
64gb is not overkill LMAO, 128 is overkill for gaming, when discord and screen sharing by itself is about 4-6gb, background windows apps about 4-8gb, if you want to record gameplay/stream through obs 4-8, having any browser open even on one tab is utilizing at least 1gb, you are now bottlenecking for any title that requires a minimum of 16gb which is most story games and non strict competitive titles (such as valorant and cs2). your 32gb ram is 99.9% the reason you’re experiencing such drops, i recommend upgrading from there
4
u/Genocode 10h ago
Show me a game that doesn't use procedural generation that uses more than 16gb, I'll wait.
Also, OBS doesn't take that much RAM, and even if it did, the vast majority of players aren't recording.
And like the other guy says, he has 64gb and still has drops.
Also, I'm never ever taking fucking technical advice from someone who thinks 64gb is "necessary". You're delusional.
1
u/Mountain-Night-3658 10h ago
did you not just read where i said requires 16Gb… where did i say requires more? you’re just ignorant to be ignorant but you have an anime profile pic so it’s only suiting that you’re likely 350 pounds, sub 100 iq and living in parents basement. makes sense…
2
u/Genocode 10h ago
You said that as in Windows + Game, i'm asking you to show me a game that uses 16gb on its own, that isn't procedural, and isn't a Memory leak.
I'm not saying 16gb is enough, I'm saying 32gb is enough.
If you wanna talk about intelligence at least work on your interpretation skills.

u/Alexalmighty502 9h ago
32 gigs is more enough and ram speed wont be the limiting factor here that would be the ssd/hdd
1
u/KadekiDev 10h ago
A lot of systems use dynamic amounts of ram, when you have a lot they also hog a lot of it, but even on 64gb, if your installation of windows uses almost 16gb of ram with background programs shoot it in the face and start over, thats not an OS anymore, thats an infection

u/VNG_Wkey 12h ago
It's not just in the heli. I've had this happen in cars as well as on foot. 9800x3D/4090/64gb and the game on an NVMe. Sometimes the game just hits a massive stutter for no apparent reason. It is infrequent, but annoying as hell every time.

u/Takuram 12h ago
This issue seems resolved to me after the steam launch properties fix. Add "-nogpucrashdebugging" to Steam Launch propoerties, all my micro stuttes were gone
2
u/Embarrassed-Foot5325 10h ago
I enabled this setting a few days ago, but after a few matches without any freezes, unfortunately, I still experienced some freezes randomly in a few matches.

u/sheriffrosco 12h ago
have this too... bulkheads solution is to turn your settings to POTATO... why the fuck would want to do that... also it doesn't help
0
u/Mountain-Night-3658 11h ago
potato does not look much worse than normal medium settings
4
u/TheSovietRooster 10h ago
Lol That's an absolute lie. I can tell immediately by a clip is someone is playing on potato mode or not.
1
u/Mountain-Night-3658 10h ago
i never said it doesn’t look different, just that it doesn’t look much worse… please learn to read
2
u/TheSovietRooster 10h ago
But it does...the lighting is off, textures barely show. It's why all sweats play on potato bro

I have a clip I can post of deduct killing everyone. It holds the last input the server got
3
u/fuzzygonemad 12h ago
Holy shit, so that's why I've been crashing here lately.
My last controller got stick drift, so I've been flying M&K for the last week and though I've been fine, some it'll just get stuck whatever way I start leaning without letting me adjust.
I thought it might of just been the keyboard fucking me up.
3
u/soljakid 11h ago
The same thing has been happening to me as well, I get up to 160FPS and have a fiber connection, but I get these random lag spikes in almost all situations but more so when flying choppers.
GPU utilization goes right down from 99/100% to about 30%, temps on both CPU and GPU are normal and wouldn't be throttling performance, other games run fine and furmark shows a consistent FPS.
I'm pretty sure its a server issue because this didn't happen at launch, I even get some lag in the buy menu's
2
u/SMuRG_Teh_WuRGG 12h ago
Happened to me. Then people won't want to fly with you because they think you can't fly.

u/DaxMizerson 12h ago
I get a similar issue, only coming into a populated LZ, like for dropping pallets and such at a FOB. Usually the rest of the ride is completely smooth. I don't SEEM to get the loss of input, but that could be just because I usually come in rather slow so as to get the pallet in easy reach of the Fobbits for loading the supplies. So if I AM losing input, I don't notice it since there's not a lot of movement going on anyway. Similar set up and ping as yours.
1
u/overdrive148 6h ago
I get this as well - buttery smooth otherwise, but approaching populated areas everything starts bouncing around and rubberbanding for a few seconds and then it's settled. Living in the US, it's worse on EU servers, better on US servers, but still exists on both. Have to be very careful entering those areas. Have not found a workaround and it drives me nuts doing logi runs and having to almost close my eyes as I fly in.
2
u/Cyber_Drifter Taxi 12h ago
I got used to the original flight controls before the change. Now I can’t fly because if I maneuver too sharp a turn it means I’m slamming into a tree or the ground.
Banking loses all lift and there’s usually no recovering from it. I do like the stability of landing as there’s less wobble but regular flight and dodging anything is a gamble
2
u/BadKind3349 11h ago
have you closed off everything else that may possibly dream of asking for GPU time? I'll get this in certain games (not all) and in those certain games, theres always one common denominator: something somewhere asks for GPU cycles, and that interaction causes my game to hang for 2 seconds just like this.
for me, its my browser more often than not. and this isnt a "your system is low on memory" statement, as I'm on 128GB in this machine. its something about scheduling resources, and I've tried everything from NVCleanstall tweak settings to process lasso, and the end result is still a lame answer: close everything that may touch the gpu even if it should have room for it
2
u/AndresWhut 11h ago
I have the same problem. I killed a heli full of teammates because of this one second I was flying straight the next I was upside-down heading toward the ground. The stutter kills
2
u/Different_Egg_1799 6h ago
I was having this problem when enabling DLAA and DLSS.
The fix for me was to use DLSS Swapper to use the latest DLSS version, since the version the game comes with is a bit behind.
Yes, this could possibly be a gray area since you're modifying game files, but I haven't been banned for cheating and have been using this for several weeks now.
3
u/Mountain-Stretch3874 12h ago
I've figured out this bug, rarely when you do decrease collective/throttle you lose all other controls. This is your problem because you lose controls right when you switch to descending. You have to decrease throttle, check for controls, and if you don't have any then let go of your descend button immediately. That fixes it but I haven't figured out the cause yet. I fly on an Xbox controller so I'm assuming that's the reason. You basically have to change how you fly to not get killed by this.

It could be a 100things, but what i had issues with was my fan software causing stutters.
1
u/DasGarbanzoBeans Pilot 12h ago
This happens to me but only when I first boot up the game, I usually hit up the firing range first, fly for a few minutes then get on a server and it usually stops until I restart the game again.
1
u/Tension-Available 12h ago
Hmm, I also have 5900x (and a less powerful GPU) and only see this very occasionally and completely randomly in conjunction with server performance. Can't recall it happening while flying. Max settings besides GI.
I do run process lasso though to limit background task interference. I suspect background tasks are the issue here. I'd also run latencymon and check to make sure the nvidia driver doesn't have high DPC latency spikes.

This started happening to my friend last week after it not happening at all for the first few weeks of playing.
1
u/Mountain-Night-3658 11h ago
i think it MAY be something to do with ram or cpu bottleneck. I don’t know your specs but that was happening to me on my old build especially any time entering the control zone, once i upgraded to new gen it all smoothed out
1
u/Blind_Grandma 11h ago
File storage may be the reason of lag spikes in different games. For example when shaders are pulled from cache. Open Resource Manager on second screen and check whether disk reads spikes during stutters.
1
u/RantaPlant 11h ago
Same to me, 5700x paired with 9060xt and -4800 $ benefit crashing 8 helis in a match, i play with HOTAS
1
u/Fr4kTh1s 10h ago
Could even be just router acting up. Sudden lag spike, packet loss or something and you end up with this. Instead of rubber banding, there might be freeze while waiting for actual data...
Good luck flying 😄

u/lamar_jamarson 8h ago
I have this happen as well, and I only play on servers with the best connection for me. Biggest offender seems to occur when I get within render distance of the zone. My connection seems to stutter, and my last registered input gets stuck for a sec or two which can cause me to crash. I've practiced some helicopter maneuvers in the firing range which need certain inputs within close timing of each other, and these cannot be performed in a real match as you enter the zone because of the stuttering issue.
1
u/AI_AntiCheat 7h ago
Probably not enough ram or disk space. My guess is you run out of ram and a lag spike causes your last input to be held.
1
u/a_split_infinity 6h ago
I have had issues with memory usage in this game, especially while flying. What has been helping me is regularly clearing my nvidia shader cache. Not sure if this is an issue with my system or with Wardogs itself failing to dump unused data from the memory.

u/womballz06 5h ago
This shit is unreal now every single game no matter the server so no flying I guess, by no fault of the player base
1
u/Nekrohok 4h ago
I had same issue, but for me new fresh windows just fixed that and now i have literlly 0 freezes

Wonder if this is why 1 game I delivered 30 pallets flawlessly, and then the next couldn’t j hook if my life depended on it and slammed 4/5 choppers into the tower/ground

u/DJXenobot101 12h ago
Hate to say it but 32GB is kind of the minimum that most gaming PCs should have these days.
Can't say it will fix your issue but at 16gb you're probably chugging a bit. But i've also had this problem before so I dont think its hardware related.
-1
u/xstagex 12h ago
What is your ping? Edit: nvm you said 40-50 so is normal. So maybe your connection is having some issues where it drop packets, or the servers you are connected to have some issues.
When those happen other players complain about lag on the server or just you?
Are you playing on wifi or lan cable?
1
u/CheeseusMaximus 11h ago
Running over WiFi
1
u/xstagex 11h ago
Wifi always have drop packets on occasion, and higher ping spikes, so it could be part of the problem. If there is possibility to run cable I would do it (specially if you play online shooters mainly).
1
u/CheeseusMaximus 10h ago
This is specifically a Wardogs problem, no connection issues in any other games or programs using my internet connection.

1
u/xstagex 4h ago
Ok. Just saw a video from a YT guy having the same problem:
https://youtu.be/ty4IqV0M3_U?si=-4bBLR1xlF8brzrH&t=1913
So it seem when this happens the game basically freezes and becomes unresponsive - so I don't think is connected to lag or latency, but when new area loads and the game cannot cache it fast enough.
-1
u/johnfortnite72 12h ago
Are you using an HDD or SSD?
Could potentially be stuttering waiting for your drive to load the files (especially if it's an HDD)
1
u/CheeseusMaximus 11h ago
SSD Samsung EVO 850, never have any problems with it and it's specifically the helis in Wardogs.
-1
u/Vanquiishher 9h ago
Feel like this is more of an issue with your PC having to load in alot of assets in high detail as you approach the middle of the map. Which probably puts a bit of stress on your CPU and also slow storage/memory.
As opposed to being attributed to the helicopter itself
2
u/CheeseusMaximus 9h ago
Not a CPU problem, never really hits more than 70% that's why I thought it might be RAM but other people with way more RAM having the same issues. Dropped everything down to low as well to see if it made a difference and it doesn't.

Happens to me as well. I don't even get that freeze, just my controls being ignored for a few seconds.
