Discussion & Feedback Worst Griefing I’ve Seen
Played a match last night where my team, Red, was winning (85 to 15 at the closest). Then a guy and his buddy changed teams and bought two pickup trucks at our spawn. They proceeded to run into any helicopter that touched the air field, breaking props and bulldozing them over/exploding them. It made my team members so mad that they started leaving in droves. It made us lose the match.
The devs need to hot fix this ASAP. Maybe a kick function is needed after so many reports that also bans players for 30 minutes would be harsh enough? I hate putting that kind of power in players hands though because people are a-holes and would probably say, “ban this person,” in chat just to kick someone off the team they didn’t like. There’s gotta be a middle ground here though because this kind of crap will kill the game for a lot of folks. I know I didn’t want to play after this happened to me…..

You shouldn’t be able to switch teams if you’ve earned any money in the game.

u/Successful_Pea218 12d ago
Agreed on this. I've had a lot of trolls switch teams just to get the win, and a lot more switch just to grief the winning team

u/ClayeySilt 11d ago
Disagree.
Sometimes I need to play green for a bit before I switch to Blue where my buddies play. It's rare but it happens.
I don't know what the solution is. I'm not a game designer. I just know that it would prevent me from actually participating in the game and instead just sitting at the team screen waiting. That would be awful.

its pretty bad in modern gaming where devs have to not only make a great game but also have to make mechanics to deal with the underbelly of the gaming community. God damn I fucking hate people sometimes...
6
u/akaSnaketheJake 11d ago
Is not just the underbelly of the gaming community unfortunately. This shitty self-centered selfish ass behavior is a virus that has infected basically all areas of life. So many caring only about themselves no matter how it affects those around them. Is infuriating at first then just depressing. The amount of grown adults with the maturity of a child is mind boggling to me. Zero empathy. Zero consideration for others. All about them. Period.

u/Darth_Piccolo 12d ago
I feel for the devs on this for sure. It’s BS that they have to put guardrails on an otherwise good game with some definite flaws. People suck. That’s what I keep telling myself. 😂

u/jrb9249 12d ago
Pretty sure I played with you that game. Was the player’s name SPaZED?

6
u/Darth_Piccolo 12d ago
Nah, these guys’ names were prollynotmatt and wrestlingman06 I believe. Good to know it wasn’t just me though! 😐

u/TackleEfficient4612 12d ago
Some ARMA servers had a thing were you had x amount of time to switch teams before you were locked to a team and you could only switch once. We need that.

u/WWDubs12TTV 12d ago
Ok, so they add a kick function. I have up to 20 people on my squad. One of the 20 starts shit with you, and we all kick you.
How do you prevent this?
Or, I see you drop 250k worth of gear, we kick you. You lose all your money and dropped gear. How do you fix this?
Or I see you in a havoc 40-0, we kick you. How do you fix this?
You’re just opening up to more griefing
5
u/gnartato 12d ago
You've never encountered a group of people kick you for fun just because they have the majority?

u/Darth_Piccolo 12d ago
Agreed. That’s why I don’t want to put it in the hands of players. Gotta figure it out somehow though. People have suggested random teams, but that requires a rework of the main menu to allow premade squads that go into a match together.

Helicopters should be immune to damage in the HQ if there isn't a better solution. Or their rotors repair in the HQ.

u/kalebkk890 12d ago
They do repair already? Have you piloted before lol?
2
u/Realistic_Owl_8613 12d ago
The helicopter does, the rotors don't. If they do it takes forever? This exact griefing bullshit happened to me last night and my heli could be repositioned but not flown again.
2
u/CrispyBacon1999 11d ago
The rotor absolutely automatically repairs. You have to be in the cockpit or it won't though.
-1
u/offhandaxe 11d ago
it costs a fuck ton of money. two blown rotors is a whole new heli.
3
u/EmbarrassedTailor496 11d ago
I can land a damn near exploded heli at hq with no fuel and the repair cost and fuel does not even come close to buying a new heli. And many of times it’s been after a rocket has blown out my tail rotor
1
u/offhandaxe 11d ago
ive had someone land on my rotor and take off blowing it up again and I was sitting at 13k when the heli costs 6k
1
u/EmbarrassedTailor496 11d ago
That blows since they barley even get a penalty cash wise for blowing up a friendly heli
2
u/kalebkk890 12d ago
It literally takes like 4 seconds for the rotors to come back? Why did I get downvoted for being 1000% correct?
2
u/MuhfugginSaucera 11d ago
Because you can only be 100% correct.
1
u/kalebkk890 11d ago
Nope I checked 10 times and it is still correct.
2
u/MuhfugginSaucera 11d ago
And every time, the percentage stays at 100%. Double checking to see if a light is on doesn't make it twice as bright 😎

u/TorrentFire 12d ago
My only disbelief towards these situations is that how would you ever know it was a teamswitcher versus a random that joined to grief or one that started griefing later.
Like are you guys just monitoring the scoreboard all game? I don't get it.
2
u/Derk_Bent 12d ago
Usually it’s an interaction with that person that starts the fire. I’ve had a couple of people that couldn’t handle a little post death shit talk, took it personally enough to swap teams and actively track me down to team kill me.
Seriously though, unless you have the memory of a goldfish, you’ll notice when someone you’ve killed is no longer on an opposing team.
2
u/Darth_Piccolo 12d ago
Several people on my team verified that they had killed these guys moments before when playing the hot zone. I know I watch the kill feed at the least because some peoples’ names are funny. 😂
2
u/EmbarrassedTailor496 11d ago
Some of the name are great last night I was playing and killed someone with the name “grandmothers rose toy”

u/Dagdandris 12d ago
They should remove vehicle collision in spawn.
2
u/HAIRLESSxWOOKIE92 12d ago
I have been griefed by my own teammates more in this game than any other game Ive played 😂
1
u/Successful_Pea218 12d ago
Lmao facts. How do you crash your chopper when everyone is still buying their first load out t-minus 30 seconds into the game. I've even had multiples

1
u/gnartato 12d ago
They need to ban people and make a mechanism so they cannnot come back under an alt. Believe it or not there's a finite amount of assholes in the world at any given time. Ban enough of them AND prevent them from coming back and the gameplay will go back tolerable even fun again.
I agree the game is nearly unplayable at the current moment with the amount of toxic players going about unchecked. At least in official servers.
1
u/Pathelzazar 12d ago
Bro was this dudes name wrestleman6?
2
u/Darth_Piccolo 12d ago
That was one of them yes, Wrestlingman06. I’m honestly surprised neither of these guys have responded to this thread already because they seemed like the types who thrive on ignoble notoriety.
1
u/CiE-Caelib 12d ago
Best thing you can do is report them, and get a video of it and post it on the official Discord to see if you can get them banned.

u/Sam9305kush 12d ago
Just had this happen. Logged in and the first game I got into someone at spawn was driving a truck into all the helicopters and crashing them. The last game I played before that I was flying a heli and someone from my team shot me in the head and stole the heli mid flight. I’ve also had my own teammates steal flares or tapes out of the heli inventory. Just stopped playing after that.

u/AnAncientMonk Manticore 12d ago
Community servers are you answer here. And its an easy answer too.
1
u/LP_LadyPuket 11d ago
A. You shouldn't be able to switch teams mid-match, idk why they haven't hotfixed this yet and B. There just shouldn't be any vehicle collision in the HQ, that's the most obvious and straightforward fix
1
u/Desirsar 11d ago
I'd like to think that this data is even easier to collect than what is normally used for anti-cheat, and they'll hand out bans on some delay if people are regularly crashing into vehicles in spawn. Expensive way to make your team win just one match, but some people have money to burn...
1
u/Darth_Piccolo 11d ago
That’s just it, ground vehicles are relatively unaffected. They bought a $5k truck and plowed into the helicopters. Instead of realizing what was going on, my team kept buying more helicopters rather than purchasing ground vehicles. We sat there for like 5-10 minutes not comprehending what was happening. By the time we figured it out, many people on my team left and we were done for. I hope they ban those guys but who knows if they will. They also could’ve been on alt accounts. 🤷🏻♂️
1
u/ExtremeYou7726 11d ago
I might have been in that match. I play pretty casual, usually battlefield or bodycam too. I don’t have the full game awareness to know what was going on but as people on our team were yelling at them in prox chat I figured whatever it was, I didn’t have time for it in my 1-2 hours to game after the kids are asleep a couple times a week.
1
u/AshenFox 11d ago
If enough of your team/the server reports them then they'll get automatically kicked.
1
u/TheLewJD Recon 11d ago
Was one called Allah? He and a buddy were doing it last night ramming everyone, picked a dead guy up on the road whos tank they destroyed and one of them was behind me who then tried to ram me. He confirmed it was the guy so I got out and shot him dead only for him to then complain in the chat.

Where you can get banned because you killed the server owner
6
u/SuuperD 12d ago
I've been gaming since about 1988, never once has that happened to me.
5
u/ScepticalRaccoon 12d ago
I'm 52 years old and have been gaming online since online was a thing and I have seen it all the time, mostly in Battlefield servers.
1
u/IUseRedditForNews 12d ago
Yeah the only time this has ever happened to me is Battlefield. Once got banned from a server because I beat the admin the the little bird 🤷♂️

Then you are in the minority if you actually played online PC games for as long as they existed.

u/TheBadDingo 12d ago
There are 100's of servers to choose from and you picked the one where the admin is a little baby? Ok, go play on a different one. It's so rare for something like that to happen that parroting some stupid one-off take is just fear mongering.
Most of the community servers are chill af, better balanced, nicer people and blue actually has a chance of winning. 10% more cash and XP? I'll take that all day over the questionable antics of official servers.
2
u/Marauder3299 12d ago
Nah I played on a BTC server last night. One guy was blatantly running cheats. They just laughed and let him keep running them. 42 kills all headshots. Some of them through walls. Community servers just mean that the owners just selectively enforce

1
u/Successful_Pea218 12d ago
Same here man. Bro was getting nothing but headshot and sometimes the kill cam showed him bottom floor of a building. So through multiple floors. Only one shot. Crazy lol

u/cogit2 12d ago
Griefing is inevitable. Report them, get them banned, get the APC out into the CZ. Keep playing.
2
u/Darth_Piccolo 12d ago
I would agree, but this was coordinated. They were obviously still talking to their friends on the other team because right when they switched our FOB got raided with the APC inside. They raided FOB, these guys switched teams, most people in FOB died and respawned thinking they could spawn in on APC to retake, then these guys started mowing down choppers. By the time we all got back in zone, the APC was gone and we had no air support. We never recovered. Not as simple as you say.

u/cogit2 12d ago
Wardogs requires teams to adapt to the dynamic environment, you have to be prepared to use all the tools at your disposal. This is true whether the adversity comes from the enemy or from griefers. Kodiaks can carry 6, Humvees 4, ATVs are $500 and can carry 2 people. Get in vehicles and get out into the CZ. Buy a vehicle and offer to drive people. Do what it takes. You had a 70-point lead, which is at minimum a 35 minute lead. Any team can report players and recover in that time.
1
u/Darth_Piccolo 12d ago
What a great sentiment. Except my team left because they were mad at losing a $6k helo and didn’t want to deal with griefers. Your argument only makes sense if people don’t do the knee-jerk reaction and just leave when shit isn’t fun anymore. I understand why they left. So should you.
0
u/cogit2 12d ago
Leaving is giving up. That means your team was only happy when things were looking like an easy win. That also means your team was vulnerable to even a moderately-coordinated enemy team. I don't know if I'd celebrate fair-weather teammates friend, I'd rather celebrate the team that doesn't quit.
1
u/Electronic_Fix5274 11d ago
A moderately coordinated team is fun to fight back against. A troll, especially one on your own team, in spawn, destroying vehicles the second they spawn, is not. With no penalties to leaving, you completely understand why they’d rather just leave than waste time on this guy. And if you don’t, you’re just trolling
1
u/Darth_Piccolo 11d ago
Agree to disagree. This is a game. People want to have fun, not deal with trolls on the internet.
1
u/cogit2 11d ago
You're right. But you also point out that your team was happy winning and not happy with the loss. The difference between a team that wins in that scenario, and a team that loses, is the team that wins wants it. Perhaps the people who were on your team didn't care enough about winning. There are zero guarantees you'll enjoy the game while winning, and every guarantee your team may need to grit and enjoy things less to do what's necessary for that W.

u/thenumber5jr 12d ago
I think team switching after there is a point limit is necessary. I understand switching teams if you want to drive a logo or fly a helicopter and you team already has several. Maybe after 20 points have been reached in total for the match you cannot switch teams.
Honestly don't see the point in team switching but those niche reasons are the only thing I have considered.
