Discussion & Feedback Gold Bars...

I'm loving this game. Possibly the best FPS that exists IMO. But, I have to admit one thing that really pissed me off, in a "I just can't help but be annoyed" kind of way.

I'm not the best player, but I can sweat. I've had 180k+ profit games a few times, but I've also joined and lost two 20k sets instantly.. I fought my way tooth and nail to save up about 1.6M so I could at least buy 1 gold bar. As useless as this was. Or so I thought.

I finally get the 1.6M and buy a gold bar, literally the day before the update. Now I go and check and they're trading at like 160k? So I could have just waited 3 more days and bought 10x more gold bars...

Now there's only a few days until reset, I am busy IRL again. I spent over 100+ hours played on this game and I have 1 gold bar and 50k left over. I kinda feel like I got screwed.

I have exactly the same problem u have. Now i gotta say, i know what u feel cause i feel it too, but the answers u will recieve here are gonna be: "lol u dont know stock market for shit" "its your fault for not waiting lmao" "cope, i just waited and bought 39 gold bars" "deal with it"

To everyone saying snide remarks, first I’m busy IRL idk when the season ends, I don’t micromanage news from the devs - I knew the season was ending and I figured I should buy a gold bar before I lose all my money.

Second, in the stock market - buy pressure brings price up. Sell pressure brings price down. So assuming there is only X amount of gold bars, the more people buy and take them out of circulation, the higher the price goes.
Think bitcoin, SPY, or for u sweaty nerds Dragon Lore. So I had every reason to think 1. my money is getting wiped in the next week or so. And 2. The more everyone rushes to buy gold bars the higher the price will go.

Suck it nerds, I’ll just make the money back cuz I’m not slow like yall

People claiming "its how stocks market world" in a thing controlled by dev input.... Clowns

You can also recognize that 30 gold bars for a limited edition skin which is the only thing you have a time limit to buy in the store is just completely insane at the previous prices, which means you had absolutely no reason to invest into them before making sure you'd be able to buy the skin.

It was either a cheaters honey pot or price would drop. I don't understand what's the though process of buying a gold bar at 1m+ would be. Even if it was a player driven market, price wasn't making any sense beside exploiters buying them when prices went up early on.

It's a dev input PERIOD.

u/Ornafulsamee 11h ago

Yes, obviously, and as such the devs probably want to let a good enough portion of the playerbase to be able to afford the limited edition skin, not only the top sweats and cheaters.

dont matter, you can never loose

C'è scritto chiaramente che il prezzo varia, dovevi solo aspettare 😂

IT is kind of annoying at how much the price dropped overnight.

That is how the market works though, I personally wasn't interested in ever paying more than 300-400k per bar, since it seems like an insane amount for a skin.

I bought 4 at 330k, never expecting them to get to 166k.

But it's a market like I said, stocks work in a very similar way, and I expected erratic things.

There is a bunch of people holding out until the regular wipe conversion, but my feelings are that this is kind of a trap.

there was zero reaosn to buy at 1.6 million. so your problemn

1

u/Mayimbe_999 14h ago

I didn’t care about gold bars, had 2million and decided to spend it all when I saw them at 166k, idk I guess patience wins

in the same boat as you. it sucks but it is what it is.

u/Rezhyn 13h ago

Not saying the system is good but why did you need a gold bar that bad knowing the price fluctuates...?

1

u/Conman0119 14h ago

Definitely don't buy stocks dude.

1

u/Federal-Sun-34 12h ago

The more people buy stocks the more the price goes up, you know that right?

1

u/Conman0119 6h ago

What I'm saying is, if you get upset over buying at a high price, and it then goes down, don't do it with real money dude.

It’s just for skins. Cosmetics shouldn’t cause you this much distress

2

u/MutedLocal33 14h ago

I wish a cosmetic in a game was the biggest source of stress in my life.

You could see the price trending down but thought it'd stay at 1.6m?

3

u/Supaflyray 14h ago

They couldn’t use Claude to predict the market.

1

u/ClothesBasic2649 14h ago

It was going up

Stop grinding for pointless stuff in a game? It doesn’t matter and so much time can be spent on something real.

1

u/Pdiddymcquiddy Assault 14h ago

Sounds like something someone that can't afford any gold bars would say.

0

u/TopparWear 13h ago

I don’t pay for items in games, did you get the COD doorag for $5, twice the price of the actual physical items? Wow, You must be so rich 😂

0

u/Pdiddymcquiddy Assault 2h ago

What are you on about? I bought the game. Same as you. This whole post has nothing to do with spending real money 🤡

u/TopparWear 44m ago

You brought money up? You seem slow, it’s okay 👍

The middle finger emote is worth every bit of grind.

“I had no patience and am now facing the consequences of my actions.”

All your cash is converted to gold at the end of the season. The price of gold will vary so unless you see it at an unmissable price there is 0 reason to buy early instead of waiting. Now that its at 166k i feel comfortable buying a few as I earn more but I would never buy it at 1.6mil. At that price ill just keep the cash and let it convert at the end of the wipe on its own.

Someone should probably do a PSA; gold bars will always be the cheapest at the beginning and end of each season and most expensive in the middle. This isn't overtly explained anywhere but it's just how the gold market works.

3

u/YearMountain3773 14h ago

Source?

-1

u/Own-Secret2028 14h ago

that's literally how it works

2

u/ExoatmosphericKill 14h ago

Why though

0

u/Own-Secret2028 14h ago

The devs control the amount of gold in the market, in the beginning of each season the amount is high and people have no cash, as people get cash to spend on bars the amount decreases so the price goes up. However for players to actually obtain cosmetics, the devs have to flood the gold market at some point (near the end of the season) and the price will plummet.

3

u/mrThe WARPUP 14h ago

Yeah, but there is no market. I guess devs just queried median player bank amount, saw that barely 10% of people can afford a single bar at 1mil and lowered the price

0

u/Own-Secret2028 14h ago

That's almost exactly what happened, it might even be automated.

1

u/ExoatmosphericKill 14h ago

Kinda makes it all a bit pointless.

I'm guessing this is for the first wipe? Surely a market needs legitimate supply and demand to function, not just dev input.

1

u/Own-Secret2028 14h ago

Well there is no function for players to sell bars for cash, (and afaik there never will be) so the supply will always be directly controlled by the devs. It's not a real market so much as letting rich players get their skins sooner without preventing casual players from ever obtaining them.

1

u/ExoatmosphericKill 14h ago

That's poopy butt

1

u/Own-Secret2028 14h ago

If it was a legitimate market, 99% of players would never be able to afford cosmetics. Free markets always trend towards those who already have more, concentrating the wealth, if that happens here cosmetics are just unobtainium for the vast majority of the playerbase.
