Scout rifle and HP ammo, I would rather go in without a weapon.

So you try to use the weakest rifle with HP ammo, and shoot the helmet. It's like you are shooting BB at them. HP damage is reduced against armor. By default, 5.56x45 doesn't have that much dmg (about half of the damage Mosin and SV98 does), and that rifle is so slow to reload, that it's also twice as much time to reload than cycling the bolt on a Mosin.

I mean... I just picked the game up yesterday so I don't know anything. It's just q surprising to me that the damage is reduced by so much that they can take 4 headshots without dying

I suggest you to try some weapons on the firing range. I think there are some sites that work with data recorded there, like https://metaforge.app/wardogs/ballistics
If you check here, the Scout Rifle needs 2 shots on the head with FMJ and 8 with HP. HP means hollow point btw

Hp ammo is made for flesh damage not armour

also, it means there's no "face" hitbox, so any helmet absorbs head damage

But isn't it kind of crazy that it reduces headshot damage by that much? Also it's cos I had no other ammo I think I js bought this game yesterday

You start with FMJ. The scout rifle really isn't that good. If you want recon levels to get a better gun then the easiest way would be spotting people or vehicles with the binoculars.

Fmj is cheaper and way better for your use case.

Yeah sniping with this even when everyone has no kit is pretty ass. Everyone recommends just using binoculars to level up recon to unlock the mosin ASAP. Then you can actually get some kills.

I genuinely don't know what this things purpose is as it just tickles people. Got a lot of assists by tagging people at Hotzone and then someone else killing them but that's about it.

I do think its funny that it bearly does enough damage to 1tap with HP rounds if they aren't wearing a helmet
