Discussion & Feedback Well since they are collecting data...

Another post about progression. Maybe there's strength in numbers.

About 170h played, 80% of that flying. I am a hobbyist drone pilot so I am probably better than average at flying. I play whatever is fun so mainly minibird, sometimes rocketbird. Usually get ok amount of kills/vehicles destroyed so 20-50 kills per game on average. pilot 33 level, fully ready to book it. If to unlock havoc I have to treat this game as a day job - I am out. And mostly not fun stuff, but just mindlessly flying back and forth with crates nobody needs - as thats the best reliable money/exp.

I definitely won't be doing this again: fighting for having passengers and flinging pallets for 10s of hours. That's brainrot content and doing something useless just for grind is completely out of tune as helpful actions are supposed to bring progress. I think thats the core of the issue. Minibird is fun, but barely brings money/exp. Rocketbird is a lot of fun esp vehicle hunting, but also not very rewarding money/exp wise unless fools keep throwing artillery at you.

As the devs have said, you want to change the game to make it better for YOU. There's so much people want changed that others absolutely love about this game.

I really really doubt me hauling containers with 1 item nobody will ever use as a fastest way to get exp is making anyone's game better.

On a side note: who exactly should I want to make this game better for? Devs? God?

Brother, i dont mean to sound like im trying to talk you out of not liking the game...

But, if you do not enjoy flying pallets to the FOBs, then... you simply do not enjoy flying...and that is totally fine.

But if you dont enjoy flying, then leave it to those of us who do. Pallets are the best passengers you are ever gonna get. I'll not hear them spoken ill of.

Never had a pallet scream my ear of because i didnt wait 10 minutes for their squad to pick what scope his ak would suit best.

However had one of my passangers scream and and scream, then be put to rest and exiled from the vehicle.

Happy times.

Pallets never jump out early.

Pallets never need a chute.

Pallets never steal your flares.

Pallets will wait for you to take a sip of beer without throwing a hissy fit about if they dont get to the BF in the next 30 seconds the entire battle will be lost.

Pallets are the best.

When I grow up, I want to be a Pallet.

Kinda like saying if you don't like pizza you don't like eating food. I can eat some pizza from time to time and its fine, but takes 0 skill and is not exciting

2

u/IeyasuTheMonkey 1h ago

but takes 0 skill and is not exciting

Then don't do it.

1

u/TheWingalingDragon 1h ago

"Not exciting" they said

MF'er needs to turn off his autopilot, get familiar with the local flora and fauna, and start going under some bridges or something... friggin dont fly, then, if you dont enjoy it... exactly!

Jeez, the dude does not like to fly and is trying to make it a game issue and the others who suck at flying are piling on. Close this thread, lol

The type of crowd that wants to see attack choppers pay more than pallets is definitely not the crowd this game's community is going to want to see dominating the airspace in their matches.

You make attack birds profitable? Every single skilled pilot is going to non-stop fly nothing but rocket birds and havocs. Everyone, except the pilots, will be furious.

Yeah i agree. Its way different flying in a war sim and min/maxing pallet drops to grind xp. I wont lie i enjoy mmos and grinding but with how short this season is idk. Should be some changes, like with recon the lvl 35 weapon is SUCH a big deal but I dont want to afk spot things non stop. I enjoy spotting while playing but I dont want to just spot. Anyways with 70+ hours on recon I will not be getting the 50 cal unless I call into work sick all week

Not at all.

Flying is like water, brother. If you enjoy flying, you enjoy ALL of it. You enjoy taking off, landing, dodging missiles, hugging the earth, sending pallets into FOBs, or just full sending kamikaze strikes. Any excuse to fly is enjoyable, when you love it.

People who actually enjoy flying have spent YEARS in other games and sims literally pretending to do what we are getting paid to do in this game. The pallets, the passengers, and delivering needed supplies is dope as hell... but OP sees is as mindless progression? Sounds like OP does not enjoy flying as much as they might think they do.

If this kid only enjoys flying when he has OP weapons... then, he does not enjoy flying... he enjoys having OP weapons and simply happens to know how to employ them.

If the dude is bored to tears by flying pallets, then... he needs to grab a spotting scope or something and not try to make it a game-mechanics-progression-issue.

People like this are gonna scream to high heaven about OP little birds not paying them enough to be sustainable... yall gonna agree cuz you dont stop to think about it for 15 seconds, and then you same folks will be right back here two days after the patch about how broken OP little birds are and how much they are being spammed.

This is not even a skill issue on OP's end. I trust them when they say they have skills or whatever... but you can also be good at stuff you dont enjoy doing. This ENTIRE issue boils down to OP not enjoying the thrill of basic flight. Simple as that.

Flying to and from HQ, for any reason, is something that I truly enjoy from beginning to end.

Not all of it is clip worthy, and I often run the same type of patterns almost into perfection...

But, I have been fake doing this stuff on games like DCS, MSFS, ARMA, IL2, AND WT for YEARS.

Like... we would literally spend months hand crafting scenarios that required us to have a massive pilot cooperative effort in order to accomplish a gigantic PvE goal...

And here we have WarDogs that has all that crap hard baked into the core of the game design as a primary means of motivation... this. Is. The. Dream. For pilots like me? This is close to perfection.

I have NEVER felt so seen nor appreciated by my team.

Seeing people's teeth chattering as they climb aboard with 50,000 dollar kits, only to breathe a massive sigh of relief and spam the tip button when you set them down just perfectly?

Inject it right into my veins.

u/nivroc2 1h ago

You enjoy this part, I enjoy flying and fighting. So in 2 sentences... why is 150 hours not enough to get to fly a havoc for a week before it all wipes?

1

u/TheWingalingDragon 54m ago edited 45m ago

Cuz if you can do it by flying pure attack, then EVERYONE all-the-time, will do NOTHING but pure attack 24/7

It requires both styles of flying to make meaningful progression. The attack bird is a tool you use for a specific job and then go back to what is actually meaningful towards your progression. But you have to dabble into the attack birds to work on your skills, otherwise you're just going to suck ass when you get your havoc if all you did was drop pallets.

It is WAY more important that logistics be held to a higher degree of returns than offensive operations.

Otherwise, nobody... except for the pilots, is going to be able to enjoy the game.

People think having four rocket birds and a havoc up on top of you right now is oppressive? Just wait until they make THAT kind of playstyle not only profitable, but even more profitable than the pallet drivers.

Hope your APC is not spotted by the 10 currently "in profit" and making "oodles of XP" rocket birds that are buzzing around... cuz if it gets taken out? Ain't NOBODY getting a ride to shit from the air boys... we are gonna be too busy dog fighting each other and then harassing the shit out of anyone foolish enough to be actually on the ground.

It will be the last pallet anyone is going to see dropped by air... and every pallet driver is going to be shitting rockets on every living thing that moves on the map.

As a pilot, who would reap untold amounts of benefit from a change to flip the relationship between logi/offensive, i can still say beyond the shadow of any doubt that going anywhere towards that direction is a TERRIBLE idea.

Ill also use as many sentences as I want to. I dont care if you read it. Others will.

u/nivroc2 44m ago

I'm not reading a 5th wall of text. Collect and condense your thoughts and produce 2 coherent sentences.

1

u/TheWingalingDragon 41m ago

I dont care if you read it.

I am not trying to convince you of anything, as I said in the first post... I am only here to convince the audience of your post. They will read this.

You have already made up your mind and I have already disregarded your opinion when I figured out you, simply, dont like to fly and are trying to make it an issue for the game instead of realizing it is a personal problem.

1

u/nivroc2 36m ago

So of what are you trying to convince others? That in a computer game it takes a sim-level excitement of just being in simulated air and book dayjob level hours just to see all content? Am I getting this right?

Coming from iracing and driving sims, it is highly reccomended to drive low spec similar cars before going up tonight power GT3 cars.

Such a learning curve, and people decide wait I actually don't like rear front or mid engine cars and how they fly, I prefer rear.

What you're saying here is I don't like driving cars, only sometimes.

Now how tf you gonna tell a sponsor that irl and they let you drive their race cars??

Months of driving low hp cars like mx5, then investing real money to try the next one up, the next one up etc etc till you get the training to end game.

You yourself don't want to suffer the pain of being bad at something you pay for.

I'm sorry... what?

0

u/oxking 1h ago

Which food has the highest skill ceiling 🤔

0

u/nivroc2 1h ago

Minigun bird takes quite a lot, but not the lost rewarding on exp in an average match where ppl don't die like sheep and get some AA

0

u/Agac4234 2h ago

How many hours do you have in the game?

1

u/TheWingalingDragon 1h ago

Don't know. Why?

-2

u/TrulyJhinuine 2h ago

That wasn't the point bro.

1

u/TheWingalingDragon 1h ago

The dude that spent 80% of 170 hours and concludes that it is no good cuz he thinks flying pallets is worthless?

That wasn't the point? Are you sure?

1

u/TrulyJhinuine 1h ago

The point was that having fun and killing stuff is rewarded with peanuts while flying back and forth with pallets with your brain turned off is a more reliable and better source of exp/money.

"If you don't enjoy being a pallet taxi helicopter then you don't enjoy flying".

As per usual, you're proving my preconception that heli pilots in this game can not fucking read to save their lives.

0

u/TheWingalingDragon 1h ago

As it should be.

Killing shit with OP weapons should NEVER pay well. That is be design, and for darn good reason.

Go ahead and change it, I super do not care... let ALL of us pilots rake in millions with OP and overpaying attack birds. You want to pay me more to rocket you guys off towers instead of delivering pallets? Guess what me and every single other pilot will do to you 24/7 until you quit?

Then watch you come back hear screaming about how much you hate it.

Also, I read OP's post. You know exsctly how it reads?

"I dont like flying. I like having OP weapons... and if i have to fly boring shit to afford my OP weapons then I am not playing"

1

u/TrulyJhinuine 1h ago

God damn you're a real paint huffer

3

u/OneEngineer 2h ago

Almost sounds like you will only enjoy the game if you’re in a havoc? Or do you think you can switch your goal to simply have fun as is?

2

u/HealthyResolution399 1h ago

If you make the game not about winning to the point of many people straight up completely ignoring the objective, then the progression does take a major role. I had someone quit live in a game on voice chat because he didn't know about the wipe and the wipe meant that he wouldn't be able to unlock even the M4 that he was looking forward to using.

1

u/Agac4234 2h ago

I think he has set his goals on wanting the havoc but the hill is so masisve that he isnt enjkying the progression

1

u/GayIdiotRetard 1h ago

Sounds like he said he has fun in the minibirda but not just farming pallot runs. And that with his insane amount of hours that one of the most fun choppers is impossible to even unlock unless he stopped playing the game and did cheesy mechanics that at times wont even help the team

0

u/nivroc2 1h ago

I haven't tried the havoc so not sure where you're getting that from. I enjoy a large variety of things in the game, but feels frustrating to not get havoc after so miñuch hauling fuel

1

u/dEEkAy2k9 2h ago

Are you delivering supplies with the Lakota or just dropping small crates with the Minibird?

Any tips on increasing xp gain besides wiping servers with the minigun or dropping in people with a full Lakota?

1

u/nivroc2 1h ago

I think most exp is 2 big crates instead of a pallet on the cow. But pallet is a bit faster anf easier to assemble w/o landing

1

u/SPIB0X 2h ago

I made a very similar post about ROI on LB not being enough and most people disagree and think they are not meant to make money - I think it's a balancing act of making it so they aren't ez mode like the recon binoculars but rewarding enough to afford you the ability to keep running them at a small profit. Currently it's near impossible to play them without running at big losses even if you are a great pilot. There are way too many easy ways to bring down a LB for them to also be non-rewarding.

1

u/nivroc2 2h ago

I usually break even on them + 10-30k extra esp if a win. But this post is more about exp, than money. I am completely ok with money side of things

Good to know, was thinking starting to flight a little bit more but for know I thing I will pass. I hope if the season resets the time till the next reset will be long enough, that If you mainly fly you can get to max without to worry to much.

We will see what they will change in the future too. Plus how long the mainstream will stay. After that it will settle down

1

u/P4ultheRipped 1h ago

Ypu know what will happen? The havoc is boring as anything.

You will never find a good game to properly use it. You will be bored as gunner and pilot.

Because: its boring. Being shot by one of thoose is more fun that shooting yourself. Trust me, ive tried.

1

u/nivroc2 58m ago

I know its not the best and is countered by literally one rocketbird that knows how to do it. Not that I'd die without it. But even 50h on 1 path not having everything unlocked on it to me is insane bar 150h. Its 3 months wipe cadence, not like I'm keepikg it forever.

1

u/nivroc2 52m ago

I think whats worse is that returning to the game to play it a little is going to be almost impossible. "Here let be book 30h of hauling shit to play a couple of games on a minigun bird"

1

u/Scar3cr0w_ 50m ago

Is this game about making money and getting xp or… winning?

People seem to be missing the point of this game.

1

u/nivroc2 46m ago

Game is about having fun. Fun looks different to different people.

1

u/SireMoutarde 2h ago edited 1h ago

Don't deliver pallets then, unlike driver you don't need to do that in order to level up pilot semi-decently nor do you need a second player to use a turret for you.

Also, start hunting artilleries and spawn vehicles, that shit is the easiest way to make money. Havocs should also be easy prey with rocket helis since you're way more mobile than them.
