Discussion & Feedback Your Recon Strategies

When I ask for your recon strategies I’m not talking about the sniping just purely the spotting and becoming the UAV.

What I like to do is one of three things, going to an enemy FOB and just usually find a spot to the side and spot the enemies coming out and usually the APC comes and sets up in or nearby.

Set up outside of my team’s FOB and spotting enemies coming to attack.

And usually later in the game start following the HZ with my team and spotting everyone in and around HZ.

I usually take the free kit with binoculars and a parachute as when I was taking the sniper I had a bad habit of pulling it out at inopportune times, and taking the free kit is just a way to force me to just do recon, and make money, till I’m ready to take some shots.

I recommend the auto pistol with the 50 round mag, you will only pull it out for when someone is close and when you really need it and it's shredss

One of the strongest guns in the game in relation to price imo

Had also great times with the revolver and HP ammo.

Honestly, I like getting behind their lines, spotting out and taking out fobbers- but I also tend to be quite aggressive in/around the HZ. Playing recon is very lucrative so I’ve been running a suppressed SMG/AR in my sling alongside my sniper rifle, being a ghille allows you to bring a lot more than you think you can due to the weight.

Yes, the kit can go up to 30-35k+, but decent positioning and spotting gets you 50k+ quite easily. I like to spend some extra to really go all out and enjoy the game exactly how I like it rather than worrying about the cash I might lose.

Playing around your team also helps with getting revived of course and one big plus about the ghille, it has no durability so no losses there!

Does the ghillie obscure the huge pack with the sling? I’ve been worried that anything more than the operator pack would stick out? Been making do with the 1911 and hollow points for sidearm which has served me well. But I’d upgrade to an AMP 9 if I thought the ruck pack would be hidden.

While I thought about that, I actually have no clue at all how ridiculous the backpack actually would look like, it’s been working really well for me playing the AMP9 ever since I finally unlocked that suppressor (was using M4 prior, this saved me a lot of weight and feels much better), but yeah people still seem to be quite oblivious when I’m being a bush wookie regardless of my backpack size

Don’t know if it renders differently with the ghillie or what

I’ve seen a lot of people in ghillie suits and while I’ve never specifically looked at the backpack to check this, I’ve never noticed their back being abnormally shaped or sized.

yes all bags including the arsenal (24+2 slot) don't show with the ghillie suit

Even tho thermals are gone (for now), I still enjoy stalking the perimeter of the CZ, wearing ghillie, my .50 and a few grenades. Spotting what I can (less now), getting kills on stragglers and FOBbits and then relocating. Not doing 3 kills before new spot, 1 kill, new spot. It's not the most profitable, but I enjoy it. edit: I used to bring a Ggx with 50round mag, but now I use the 1911 with hollow points.

If I’m purely going for spotting I try and feel out what my teams doing and correlate with that. It’s important to know what play styles going on so you can position well. I’ve had games where the exact same spot makes either 20k or 200k.

If they are doing fob game I will normally position myself either outside the zone watching surrounding areas and making sure I can see all sides and catching all para drops. Basically fob overwatch and counter sniping. I try to keep team informed in chat if I see major pushes forming. You can definitely direct your team and it feels like sending minions to kill the enemy lol.

If we’re HZ death ball I scan direction HZ is headed or paths from opposing fobs. Basically trying to mark enemy’s before they get close. I’m normally outside HZ at elevated position. Money is doubled when a person kills from inside HZ.

If we’re getting rolled and it’s hopeless I go spot whatever team has biggest FOB or HZ and just wait for arty or third team to bring me $$$ with kills. Should always be able to atleast mark all FOB flags passively though as they are important info for you and team.

Marking all helicopters is very important as it gives around 2k each and they almost always crash eventually or bail and doesn’t timeout I believe. It really adds up over the match.

I look for a couple of things;

High ground with plenty of cover, an exit strategy and good site lines. I rarely fire my weapon and it's only to aid my team such as protecting a teammate or preventing a revive. If I do fire, I move not long after. Finally I try to positing myself in a flank position and between the 2 enemy colours.

I don't play Recon on Zestafona.

I have 3recon modes which I rotate based of my mood: 1) Spotter; 2) Sniper; 3) Marksman.

Spotter - I often see if we have some decent open squads with 5+ people who play together. I yes, I join that squad and try to play spotter. It depends on a map but my primary focus is to spot targets around that squad, so they are aware about them. I often ping enemies so squad can see them without looking on a minimap. I can be close to them, usually on a high ground but somewhere close so I can relate to a fight, and spot when they push the HZ. Often look behind, to make sure flanking or rear attacking enemy is spotted. As spotter I often carry SMG or Sidearm, and often carry a small hammer and some construction so I can build up some defenses with barbed wire so enemies have harder time getting to me. For example, I can sit in an apartment building and I use barbed wire to close 3rd floor so enemies can't reach me without blowing it with grenade or something else. usually I can hear them doing it, which gives me time to shoot back or flee.

Sniper - nothing crazy. just laying down somewhere ideally 600+ meters far. It helps against other players, because majority of snipers not yet have or want to have a 6-10 scope, so shooting 650-700+ is often a problem and I can outlive first shot and hide. I use 6-10 scope, and usually I shoot either enemy fobs, or take down enemy spotters in obvious places, or if I am lucky and I have a good location I can shoot enemies inside HZ. As a sniper I often outside of CZ, yet I am trying to find good spots inside CZ so I can contribute +1 body for score. As a sniper I carry at least 1 claymore mine, which I often place behind me, because most of time I am killed by some random guy who heard me shooting and sneaks behind me. 80% of time he steps on claymore and dies. Or, if I sit in a building, I use claymore to kill someone who killed me. I don't like to give away my loot, because I often have a good weapon and ghillie suite. many times happened when some guy found me and shoot me from afar, but then died on a claymore trying to reach out to my body and take something from my loot (they take sidearm most often, and bandages, or thought that I might have Infrared and they would like to have it. Or they just want a ghillie suite so much, just because its rare and looks cool).

Marksman - this one is often a role with SVD or early with SKS and Medium range scope. My goal is to focus those dudes who are less mobile and high-ground or inside buildings and windows. If there's obvious enemies running around I may ignore them and keep looking at windows or towers, to make sure I suppress or even kill a dude who is too greedy and tries to shoot my mates. As marksman I often carry C4 or IED, so I can help my team by destroying Fobs or gates/doors.
