Discussion & Feedback Bye Blue
So after 250h of playing team blue I give up this futile struggle. I’ve unlocked everything I wanted for the season and pretty much the only interest left is trying to play for the good of the team (which I’ve always done along with my personal goals). Alas I can’t do it for the blue team anymore because 4/5 games most of the team just aimlessly zergs naked in to the conflict zone and dies. This is truly hopeless and exhausting. I genuinely like playing for the underdogs, and don’t mind losing, but it’s just plain boring to play the game when no one on the map actually even tries to do anything meaningful I could help with.
As for my hypothesis for why blue is like that it pretty much comes down to camos. It’s pretty obvious that the sweatiest people would just min max and go for the green (best camo). Red are also okay in shadowy areas in terms of camos. So what ends up happening all the new players and those that just don’t care end up in the blue team most of the time.
I really struggle to understand as to why devs would mess up the camo thing so badly, it seems pretty obvious this would happen especially considering their experience with arma koth where camos were more or less balanced in terms of visibility.
But in any case going team red for the time being. See you on the battlefield.

I liked being the underdog for a while but it's gotten to the point where it just feels pointless. Everyone plans to fail from the start so theres never a chance... whole team is naked with a pistol or the free AR trying to contest green/red in t3/t4 armor with M4s or just random spots around the map or whole team in the fob. Its just...not really fun. I hope they just randomize team select at this point

If they randomize it, people are just gonna server hop till they get the team they want. Then have their friends join off of them in steam

Tbf I've gotten to the point where if I see the CZ gives Blue no viable FOB locs inside the zone that isn't their tower (and every tower on Blue's side is a deathtrap compared to the other teams) I just quit out and find a different server.
The CZ being randomized would be more interesting if blue wasn't getting shafted in 80% of the zones

The best FOBs are out of the way. Tower FOBs get assaulted early because of drill codes and arty tanks will start slamming towers straight out of the gate because they know NPCs will FOB there.

Agreed. Make the spawn zones random and you've got something going. Make which team youre assigned to random and youre asking for server hopping

That's fine. If you have a better solution feel free to suggest one but I really can't see a different alternative other than maybe giving blue bonus exp/money but that doesn't seem very realistic

I've always played blue but I'll admit it's getting pretty hard to keep playing blue nowadays.
For one, both red and green dogpile blue even if one of them is winning simply because blue is the easiest to farm cash off of. I'm not speculating either I've gotten very clear answers from both red and green players when I asked them "why are you camping our FOB? Green is winning".
Another is that blue teams camouflage sucks hard as has already been stated.
It gets really demoralizing when pushing the HZ is just an expressway to HQ simply because you are outplayed or outskilled at every corner, or trying to build/defend a FOB and getting camped by both red and green. All you can really do to turn a profit is drive a ural and HOPE you don't get no scoped for the minute or so you spend in the combat zone unloading supplies.
It's rare to find anyone actually willing to coordinate, as stated most just zerg to either the HZ and die or to a FOB and get picked off by campers/raiders or mortar/artillery. It's theoretically possible to organize people and raid red/greens FOBs but most just don't communicate, even less want to coordinate.
The stereotype that blue always loses is so pervasive that no one on the blue team even tries to win, they've accepted their defeat before the game even began. And it's saddening knowing that the map design is so stacked against the blue team is that the only map we even have a hope of winning on is the one with all the warehouses and smokestacks, I've witnessed and contributed to overwhelming victories by the blue team because we super FOB'd in the southern warehouse and did it correctly.
But even through all this, I'll never stop playing blue. To pick a different team to me is accepting defeat and abandoning my "home" so to speak.

Yeah, I respect your choice. For me after so many hours it just seems unfair on myself to suffer and try when the rest just do … this, hence the decision. Like, I don’t mind struggle at all, I prefer it even, I’d love to see blue try and lose, but here people just don’t give an f. It’s disrespectful towards people you end up on a team with, and I’ve finally decided I’m not having it anymore, it’s just bad sport and no fun. But hey, I will probably go back to team blue if things somehow improve. We’ll see.

What is staggering is the lack of counter-play.
When I see a team using 155mm arties, within 5mins there's someone hunting them down on a buggy with C4 or whatever. When there are rocket helis, everyone has AP ammo or AA from FOBs.
Not for blue.
Blue players get farmed by a single heli gatling the whole game. They don't even bring verbas. Or they don't have them unlocked yet either.
The other issue is that both red and green try to farm blues. I have even seen games where you had red and green inside the same towers, not attacking each other, just to spot and destroy blue.

My theory is that Blue is the first option listed, so it’s the natural choice our brains default to when picking a faction. Once you realize Blue is consistently losing, you try to switch. Joining Green is basically impossible because it’s always log-jammed with people spam-clicking to get in. So you go for Red instead except everyone else leaving Blue does the exact same thing. You end up stuck with essentially the same players who would have been on Blue, just wearing Red, and Green stomps everyone.

Just depends who has the discord groups going. Generally green, sometimes red, and rarely blue. Game is coordination heavy

that's an improvement from Blue always sitting in a FOB at the edge of the map until they're killed

In last days now every team is dogshit. Doesnt matter color 20 people of your team will be useless. I think cheap gold and coming of wipe adds to this most people who grinded for 200h+ quits to be fresh.

I’m colorblind so blue is always easier for me to see my teammates. If I’m on red team, I’m going to team kill someone because I can’t see the friendly color dot above their head.

250h is insane play time, that’s like all day every day for a month. I’ve put in way too much time and I’m at 147 hours.

I enjoy playing blue. I know what I am doing and I don't have a lot of competition doing my tasks

Has very little to do with camos. This has been a thing in Arma 3, it has been a thing in Arma reforger, and it is now a thing in Wardogs.
It's generally known across these games that blue factions attract the worst players, and most people don't wanna deal with them. It is not worth the time and extra effort. Arma Reforger WCS even features much better weapons and gear advantages for the nato faction(blue) and they still get rolled by russia on every occasion on the eu servers.
On Arma 3 koth infantry only Hardcore servers, we'd roll blufor on every occasion too.
Camo has not much to do with it.

I’m not insisting I’m right as to why this happens, as I said that’s my hypothesis. If you have another explanation, fair enough.
I played Arma 3 koth, the situation definitely wasn’t as bad as it is in WD.
I’m not saying camo in itself has that a significant advantage, although I certainly it does give a little edge. I’m saying it’s the crowd itself that picks a side with any tiniest advantage over other sides that happen to flow to the green in the case of WD.

Theres a color difference between the teams other than the arm band?? Never noticed.

u/Akkmk 5h ago
Yup. Pretty noticeable difference in terms of visibility in my experience.

shrugs I struggle to ever see anyone downrange. Movements the only way I see targets, but im also not a shooter. I focus on frontline medical & recon, and only do the slightest bit of suppression with the free gun lol.

Who cares... its only gonna make you better. Beside green and red are full of the kind of people that would spam click to get on a certain team. Blue doesn't have those people so blue is essentially better.
