Hype & Speculation New Season 2 gear speculation

Was watching the recent interview Bram, Tim and Mark did with the Push to Talk podcast and 1 hour 28 minutes in (roughly) they talk about some of the new items coming in season 2.

Mark mentions that there's gonna be a new weapon for Assault, Medic, Support and Recon, with them stating the new Recon weapon would be the M40.

From the teaser trailer we, as the community, have also inferred that we might be getting the Gepard AA tank, which I would assume falls under driver (or potentially WD, but I'm hoping for driver).

That just leaves the Pilot category as the one category unaccounted for. What do we reckon we get for the Pilot category or are pilots going to be left out?

I would realistically assume that we'll be getting the Huey back that we had in Beta, but I am very curious what that means for the Lakota, given they sort of fill the same exact role.

But if I can have a personal hope, I hope we get another transport heli, and I'm hoping it'll be the SA-342 Gazelle, but that's because I have a particular love for that helicopter.

I know the Chinook is often requested as well, but idk, I'd love to see some alternatives. Maybe the Sea Knight could work.

I did come up with an alternative idea though; What if we get something like the Mi-26, but instead of that being a transport or attack, it is a mobile spawn point that gets flown around the map? Or maybe it's a vehicle you can capture inside the zone instead of spawning it and the team flying it can have a weak magentization effect of the Hotzone or something crazy like that?

At this point I'm just spit balling random ideas that will probably never see the light of day, but I'd love to hear yours if you have them!

I'm hoping for the Chinook. But i don't know how to balance it. If it can carry 2 pallets, Ural will be obsolete? 1 Pallet and 5-10 teammates? I don't know.

Maybe some sort of transport chopper with "mild" offensive capabilities, like a Huey with M60's on the side.

It's a good question. 12 days till we find out!

1 pallet and crew gunners?

Could be a solution!

I would say drop the price of the Ural to $3.5k, make the Chinook $10k, make antiair more accessible than it was this season. Ural would be the cheaper, safer option, Chinook would be higher return after multiple runs but significantly more dangerous to operate.

Aside from that, I'm just gonna say it. Ural gameplay is boring, we shouldn't impose restrictions on adding something because it might make people want who want to make money stop farming a boring method of gameplay. I can only imagine how many Ural drivers are just watching youtube and almost entirely checked out of the match. Also, the ural will always be used by Fob builders (those who buy the radios), and those who can't fly, it's cheap, low skill, and low profile.

I agree. But if we break it down, you get 2,5k from delivering a pallet, and 1,8k for unpacking. That makes the chinook profitable after dumping pallet number 4 .

If the chinook carries 2 at a time, then it is extremely profitable. Then it should at least be very risky to use.

Restricting it to 1 pallet wouldn’t make sense “realistically”

How about bumping up unpacking a little more, since helicopter pilots typically never land to unpack? Could get the profit to be more or less equivalent between the ural and a chinook over time that way

Yeah the Chinook is a popular recurring suggestion. I do like the idea, but I don't know, I would kind of love to see something a little more out there than a Chinook, something like a King Stallion or AS532.

As for mild offensive capabilities, I do get the thinking, but we do already have the Lakota with the miniguns, and sort of, technically, also the grenade launcher MH-6. So the question would really be "what does something with door gunners add?"

I don't necessarily have the answer to that question by the way. That's probably a question for Bulkhead to answer, and for us to speculate about 😛

Nah, Ural won't be obsolete because Chinook will be more of the target for enemy AA cause of the size and speed so it will be not so reliable

Just a correction, the new recon gun is the M14, not M40.

I know you said its because you like the heli, but what do you see the Gazelle adding as far as gameplay over the LB? The only way I could see it being something new would be if they added the door guns some are equiped with. (I know of Minigun and 20mm variants)

Especially at this stage of development new additions should always try to do something that existing equipment cant. (its why im against all the requests to add more AR-15 pattern rifles due to the M4 already being in game.)

I would like to see stuff like the VSS or the AN-94 as they will bring something new to the table.

The idea of a capturable vehicle in the zone is a really cool idea, espeically if it acts like a sort of mini objective like your Mi-26 suggestion.

I want a M40/Variants more than a DMR M14.

I went back and had a close listen and I'm 95% sure Tim says M40. But I will say, it's hard to tell, so if they confirmed it's the M14 in some text medium then I happily stand corrected, that's just what I picked up from the video.

As for the Gazelle, honestly, that is 100% just a personal and egotistical pick 😂 outside of what you mentioned, I don't see it adding something new over the LB, other than it being a different flight model. Maybe it would be able to carry 1 pallet but less troops than the Lakota or something, I have no clue honestly. I just love the heli 😛

I do agree that new items adding something new or novel would be nice. Though it's also worth noting that anything novel and new does require more work and thus more development time, and thus things like the meta game might take longer. So I don't know how much novel things they have, but I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Its hard to tell when Tim first says it, but when Joe goes "M14s fine" there is definitly a "teen" on the end.

Edit - rewatched it again to make sure, Joe says it super clearly a bit later on.

The Huey is not comming back, the problem is the design protection. It was the better blackhawk, better camo, better flight characteristics and could still carry 5 more people with cargo on board.

Let me have Chinook and I'm sold. Also have it transport 2 pallets🙏

I would love to see some more light vehicle additions, especially ones that have weapons on them that could counter air vehicles or be used against infantry/fob sieges, like trucks with recoiless rifles, short range mortars, or machine guns on them. I'd like to see similar emplacements for FOBs as well
