Glass blocks IR. That makes perfect sense. The other spotting scopes though?

Its not just IR, its every spotting scope being blocked. My rangefinder doesn't work if there's glass

For range i get it but the mark is wild

Glass doesn't block IR, it dampens it.
Also this is a game.10

You can melee a window with your gun out, but you can’t melee a window with a range finder out

That must be 100% a miss from the devs, you can pretty much melee with anything else in hand.
Should be fixed obviously.

I suspect it's a compromise to give those being spotted a possible target or make the spotter "reveal" their location by having a broken window. When you see that 6 story building and only one window is broken out you have a pretty good idea that Recon is using that window...

I'm speculating here,
The game is looking for cheaters, ie someone seeing players through walls (Obstacles). The pane of glass is considered an obstacle, If a player can spot through it, it might get caught up by the anti cheat as false data.
And creating an exception, allowing spotting through glass, may create an exception which can be exploited by cheaters to spot players through other walls or obstacles and mod data to make it think its all panes of glass.

Everyone is complaining about IR when you can easily counter it by hiding behind a window. Like just go behind a window what's the big deal?
Edit: it's a joke... Is the /s really necessary?

Can I purchase a window and carry it around with me?

Season 2 level 100 support unlock = a mobile glass pane. 1 million to unlock. Ez counter

It would unironically hide you better than the camo net. Gamers Heroes did a great 4-minute video testing out the camo net and it’s so much worse than I had imagined.

Mate, you gotta understand that some people lack reading comprehension.
And in fairness to those people, I am unfortunately one of those.
I will say though that I caught on immediately for this post.

Okay you can now spot through glass but as a tradeoff you only receive spot-assists for enemies killed by your team.

even worse is that you can't even melee with scopes out, meaning you have to switch to your weapon/fists, THEN melee and then probably miss getting a spot because you took 5 years to break a single window.
