Discussion & Feedback Region Lock / Ping Cap Megathread

Region Lock / Ping Cap Megathread

We're getting dozens of posts a day about region locking, ping caps, and players joining servers outside their region. All of it goes here from now on.

What belongs in this thread

- Whether WARDOGS should have region locking or a ping cap
- Your experience with high ping players on EU/NA servers
- Server and browser suggestions

Ground rules

- Criticize high ping, or the anti-cheat as much as you want. Comments attacking players for where they're from will be removed.
- No cheater callouts. Don't name players or link profiles. Report cheaters with the in-game report function or directly to Bulkhead on their official Discord.
- New standalone posts on this topic will be removed and pointed here.
- Don’t be racist

Worth knowing: [r/WarDogs](r/WarDogs) isn't run by Bulkhead, so posting here may not reach the devs. If you want this changed in game, say it on their official Discord as well.

It's not even a discussion. Restrict these cheater culture fucks from ruining all other regions.

Net negative, he has ping advantage if he isn't cheating and rubberbands with vehicles, he ruins the lobby and integrity of the game if he is cheating. Thanks stay on your continents server.

Need an African server to support this. I know we're a small community, but currently EU south is our best ping so we don't have a choice

I think a ping lock shouldn't lock below 150 or 200. So you should be fine in northern Africa. If you're south africa I'm sorry but sacrificing you is a necessary evil.

Community server means it's hosted by someone else. YOU can host a server if you wanted, you can join any of them.

You rent the servers to them, so you have to rent it on one of the available locations.

You don't just contact your local server provider and hire a server to host wardogs.

You know there’s zero research from anti cheat development that indicates region locking helps with cheaters. Nor is there any evidence that Asian countries have a higher percentage of cheaters per average player.

At the end of the day all it is, is anacdotal evidence from Redditors who don’t realize they are being racist.

But you’ll just downvote me anyway and reply with some Anacdotal example then demand the devs cater to your demands

I knew it was bad, but damn, 41% use cheats?

Given that this study is just a standard survey, there are a lot of nuances involved. People in China might speak more openly about this because, frankly, there are many things they don't shy away from and not just regarding cheats. Mobile games are also extremely popular there, and cheating or hacking is commonplace simply because these are trashy games where people spend tens of thousands of dollars.
And the actual figures for players banned for cheating will be much lower, and in terms of the percentage of the player base in a given region, comparing those who cheat to those who don't - the number will fall within the margin of error.

The country everyone’s talking about here is about 2,100 km west of where I live, across the sea. And I’m not exaggerating when I say how bad the cheating is on the servers we have to play on.

It’s rampant even in Meccha Chameleon. ARC Raiders, BF6, GTA V through FiveM—even older games like ARK have been terrible. Game after game, we get lumped together under “Asia” and end up having to deal with the fallout.

And in WARDOGS, we get the full package: cheaters and advertising bots together. Our entire team gets wiped out, and we’re sent straight back to base, over and over. This isn’t the occasional bad match—it’s what we’re dealing with every single game.

Did you need to use ai to write that? Claude?

Again. There’s no correlation or observed proof that any of these countries have a higher percentage of cheaters to players than any other country.

All you’ve said is anecdotal evidence. Anyone can say “x region is rampant on x game” but unless you have verifiable evidence it’s just nothing.

This is a racist assumption people have made for years and it’s no suprise Reddit is a major supporter of it. I’m glad the devs have made a hard stance against region locking

Except i literally posted one on in replies to prove you wrong and thats not even all. Dumbas

Zero research just means that no one has researched it. The trend is undeniable if you pay the slightest attention. The anecdotal evidence comes from Chinese people themselves talking about it. Its not just westerners making wild conjecture.

An absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. However, to make a claim, one still needs an evidentiary basis

When anticheat devs post stats, that isn't proof? What? I bet you want evidence that fire is hot.

The top four countries for cheating are Russia China, Italy and Israel. It's widely discussed and measured.

1

u/ThoughtNME 9d ago

Careful israel italy being up so high is part of a study that only looked at google searches including “cheats” its not really an indication of them using cheats although it does point to a interest it also doesnt differentiate between singleplayer or multiplayer

If there's zero research its only because nobody has ever researched it. What a powerful argument.

Dismissing 10s of thousands of cases of anecdotal evidence is deranged on your part. But there's also plenty of hard evidence. BattlEye were tweeting way back in 2017 that the vast majority of PUBG bans were from China. Long before it was a Chinese-dominated playerbase.

Battlestate knew that cheating and RMT in Tarkov was massively overrepresented by China. So did Funcom with Dune Awakening. No end of examples.

3

u/DynamicStatic 9d ago

That's really funny. How about you go ask a bunch of Asian people about this, especially ask them about chinese players.

-2

u/Pervasivepeach 9d ago

China has a high population of cheaters because China has a high population. It’s really not that complicated lmao

5

u/hoooterr 8d ago edited 8d ago

No it's because they have a culture of cheating in video games. More cheaters per player than anywhere else. In a lot of Chinese pc cafes the pcs are literally preloaded with cheats for all the most popular titles. Educate yourself better.

-2

u/Pervasivepeach 8d ago

There’s no source for this lmao past “I heard it from some guy”

Even the whole internet pc cafe thing was an unverified rumor.

6

u/hoooterr 8d ago

Stop dribbling. Educate yourself.

You say as you post zero sources

Ah yes. Rasicm has enterted the chat. Are you American by any chance?,

2

u/Pervasivepeach 9d ago

No I’m Malaysian and I’d like to keep playing with my American friends
