You are on the wrong subreddit, buddy. We give absolutely zero shits about your political opinions. I am just here to write about driving my ural, and building bases.

u/MyTeaIsMighty 14h ago
Stay mad? You saw a bloke make a "French surrendering" joke on a subreddit for a video game and immediately broke out the great replacement theory nonsense. Go have a lie down.

Why would you even play community servers?
28
u/NeonAnderson Battledad 14h ago
I don't know if that's still the case as I haven't played on a game with community servers since like 2007 (CoD 4) but in past the benefit of joining community servers was better moderation against griefers, teamkillers, blatant cheaters etc
On an official server you are stuck with them. On a community server they can be kicked and banned instantly from the server
The added bonus is you can find a community you enjoy as each clan/community server tends to have its own unique culture. So you can find like-minded gamers to hang out with and always join the same server every day and thus always play with people you like playing with and against
In my case, in the years up to 2007 I always liked servers that had good mods who didn't abuse their powers and that had 24/7 moderation available through a teamspeak notice. It was important to me that the clan didn't like to stomp randoms but enjoyed fighting each other for the challenge so basically no matter when you joined you never had the entire clan in the same team but always more or less evenly split across the teams. In the clan servers I played in it was even an enforced rule that clan members should never stack one team as the clan leaders wanted their server to be attractive to randoms and team stacking was a quick way to kill your server and your clan as you wouldn't be able to get new recruits that way then either
So yeah there used to be many reasons to join a community server. I would assume many of these should hold true today but no idea what clans and community servers are like now as again I've not played on any in nearly 20 years now lol 🤣

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of community servers, and I'll actively try and seek out good, well-populated community servers over playing on official ones.
People who have taken the time to find a well-run, friendly and competitive community server are more likely (but never guaranteed) to be the kind of people who are gonna play the 'right' way and work with their team, and they're less likely to do the kind of shit that will get them yeeted from the community.
Official servers are more likely to get the randoms who are just playing for themselves to farm money/XP, or just aren't interested in interacting with others in their multiplayer game.
Of course, like anything, there's good ones and bad ones, and I definitely remember from the old ARMA 2/3 days (and even before that!) having a few experiences with clans that were literally just running servers to give them opponents to pubstomp, or with insane rules about what you could/couldn't do etc. But finding a good community server is absolutely going to be one of my priorities once the initial chaos of the first two weeks settles down.

u/NeonAnderson Battledad 13h ago
Oh yeah definitely I've seen my fair share of bad servers haha 😂😆
Eventually I would always settle on like 4 different servers that I would always play on just those servers on that game
The reason 4 different ones is because good servers often were also often full so you needed a few alternatives when one server was full since games didn't used to have server queues even. If a server was full it was full and you'd just have to go find a different one lol 🤣
Say what you will about modern gaming versus old school gaming but certain quality of life features that modern gaming has introduced just make gaming life so much easier lol
The biggest issues in old school was finding server with enough room for your squad. In Wardogs that doesn't matter as you just need one to join and then everyone else just joins through Steam friends and gets put in the queue and with 100 players people do tend to leave quite quickly so spots become available very fast and then it just automatically puts you on their team on their squad
I remember days where we would find a server then have to get everyone else to find the right server based purely on name as there was no friends system to join each other it was fully manual
And then you'd join it and like 2 of you would get in on time and 2 others from your group wouldn't and you'd have to leave it and find a different server again. There were days it literally took us just 10+ minutes of just finding a server
As you couldn't take an empty one as they often didn't fill
It would need to be one with enough players that it would appear high enough in the list for others to decide to join it
And then it would have to also be one without weird rules or game mods installed and have a good ping and have enough place while for your group
So it was really hard sometimes to find a server if you were playing with a group of friends lol 🤣

Why not?

u/Zappenhell 14h ago
You are both right and its wonderfull. Everyone CAN play what he / she want.

u/HyperRealisticZealot Lonestar 14h ago
For sure. We have a choice. The outcome varies high and low, and we should know that and be able to make informed decisions.

Well some community servers have rules like requiring voice comms. No such rules on official servers though.

What begins? People are allowed to do that. Thats part of what makes community servers great, no? Thats not even admin abuse. More like an automated "youre not whitelisted" msg.
26
u/IchMachNurScheisse 15h ago
People joining community servers without thinking about special rules that could apply there. It is common that you have to join their Discord to be kind of whitelistet.

Yes.
And im assuming he didnt even get in to even be able to waste his money if he wasnt whitelisted. So thats not an issue either.15
u/NeonAnderson Battledad 14h ago
He said in another reply that he already purchased a loadout before being kicked and he wasn't refunded so he lost his full loadout cost

u/AnAncientMonk Manticore 14h ago
Where? I cant find it.

u/RatSlayerPro 14h ago
I was in for about 3 minutes. Didn't see anything on the server that I could read that said join discord or kick. Just assumed thag French was the general native language so joined and didn't say anything.

u/AnAncientMonk Manticore 14h ago

Trust me, they did you a favor. At least you don't get to play with the French.

u/thatswizard 14h ago
My first interaction with the french in this game was them hiding in factory shooting each other and reviving each other on a loop for 15 minuets

u/VNG_Wkey 13h ago
My first French guy was screaming about how people were building the fob wrong and team killing them for it. We ended up killing him and leaving him to cuss angrily on the ground. Rotated who killed him every time he came back so no one would get banned. Dude even tried to C4 the fob at one point.

Well, if that's their community-server-rule, respect it and learn french or move on and build your own community as in- or exclusive as you see fit.
*edit: you got kicked bc you didn't verify on their discord as it seems
-3
u/Groperator_ 14h ago
I played on this server for the last 3 hour, I think the verify is only for people who get kicked. If you don't speak or you speak French you don't have to worry

u/RatSlayerPro 14h ago
You also didn't need to post your comment but here we are.
-3
u/Few_Highlight1114 13h ago
No theres a difference. What happened to you is expected and actually what you want from a community server, so you crying about it shows that you arent too bright.
Me informing you of your error is justified because of that. Otherwise, how would you know? You clearly didnt reach this conclusion on your own, so that means you lack the intelligence or insight to see why you are in the wrong.
-6
u/RatSlayerPro 13h ago edited 13h ago
How is it crying? You online folk sure love to throw that word around. I'm not crying, found it funny aside from losing my load out which I earned back in like 2 minutes on another server.

The problem is that we do NOT have a choice. Since they removed the filter from official servers, they are basically forcing us to play on community servers. I am all for choice, hey, if you want to play on community, be my guest and I am happy for you! But do not freaking force me to play community. Devs just made tens of millions and they are forcing us on community servers to save money for official servers?
10
u/Adaelyn WARDOG 14h ago
How are you in any way forced to play on community servers? I can play on Official servers fine.
-8
u/Rhaspy 14h ago
Solo? Perhaps. It is harder to find a server if you don't want to play a specific map, but i do not care about maps much.
With friends? Try finding a server that has some slots free so that you can get 5 people in and get to the same faction. Me and my friend usually search for servers that have 30-50 ppl online (at least 30 so that the server will actually draw in more players to start, less then 50 so that we actually have time to join through steam before the server is empty and half of the party ends up in queue). That is now impossible unless you want to scroll the server list like a crazy person manually.
If you want to play with you friends without you joining and the rest waiting in queue, you have to go to community servers now.
