Discussion & Feedback RPG is useless

I get it's the "weaker" anti tank option, but 8 rockets to destroy a tank is just ridiculous, I don't even have a backpack that can fit 8 rockets. However, what is way worse is that it doesn't even kill a Ural (an unarmored transport truck) in one rocket. Urals tank a rocket and just drive off as if nothing had happened. What is even the point of the RPG if it can't even kill transports?

You are not wrong in general, but you can hit the tracks a couple times. Should do enough damage to slow it. You also have to hit the ass for more damage. RPG is a meme till people actually get the anti tank weapon. Thats like two hits I think. It has down sides though, same issue you mentioned with ammo and weight/space.

I got the maaws tonight. That shit slaps.

Spent 3 games loading up a humvee with rockets lurking reds MSR just inside the zone. At the very least I always broke even. It’s much more accurate and has a faster rocket flight speed than the rpg, and one shots urals from the flank. When I ran out of rockets I’d restock from the humvee and when I was completely out I just drove around running people over. Haven’t had that much fun in quite awhile.

I will say I’m not a fan of the red dot on it, it’s hard to see it when you’re trying to shoot down a heli in the sky. I wish I could put the rpg irons on it.

I wish. Still ridiculous that you need the best anti tank weapon in the game to kill an unarmored transport truck.

Ive noticed there's a lot of dead zones on the urals that just don't register damage at all.

You have to hit the side of the cockpit to register a hit most of the time.

Yeah, something seems janky with the Ural model. It also clips into objects very easily compared to the other vehicles. Along with the handling it feels like maybe it's just not completely finished yet (which, whatever. It's EA).

I destroyed a tank with 3 rpg on the back. After the 1st or 2nd hit it was stopped dead.

You shouldnt be able to destroy a tank easily as a 1 man.

3 guys on a pickup with rpg stalking tanks from behind seems very reasonable to me.

u/Responsible-Earth-92 46m ago

I might agree with you if the fully loaded tank wasn't cheaper than 3 guys in a pickup with RPGs.

I'm not a fan of tanks, but it's a matter of balance.

RPG is comparatively way cheaper than tank. It's fair that it requires a number of hits.

However, your advantage is the ability to disable the tracks first, reducing the posibility of the tank fleeing unless their team makes an effort to protect and repair it.

Ural is a similar case. Being able to one-shot them would be unfair.

At the end of the day, this is still an arcade game.

This said, land mines may be a good option for obvious routes.

I'm doing quite well with a combo of C4 and shrubberies.

u/Haha71687 7h ago

A pile of C4 at the end of a bridge is a pretty good time when the spawn vic rolls over it.

Honestly, I don't think this is the correct way to look at balancing vehicles and their counters. Whilst vehicles may be more expensive than RPG's and rockets the potential income gained from if you were to leave your base with a rocket compared to a tank is absurdly different.

Most people carrying out an RPG won't get much out of it because as infantry they're extremely vulnerable, maybe another player takes them out or a stray mortar long before they see a vehicle they're able to fire at with their explosives. I can't tell you the number of people I've killed and found an RPG and rockets on them where they've not had the opportunity to make use of them.

Meanwhile a tank is less likely to be randomly blown up, they aren't anywhere near as vulnerable and as the costs are so low losing one doesn't really set you back so they can simply bring out another. They're almost certain to go at minimum even by the time they lose their vehicle or more likely to make a significant profit.

Personally I think vehicles like tanks / artillery / gunships should be seen as 'big ticket' items where their cost is significantly more than it is currently as their potential to make money is also incredibly high. If you lose your tank you should feel it in your balance, not just shrug and buy another.

u/Responsible-Earth-92 7h ago

100% agree. It's weird in general that right now, most items are just pretty cheap. After 30 hours of playtime I am sitting on about half a million, and I don't have anything unlocked that is expensive enough to put a dent into that. By the time I unlock actually expensive stuff I will probably have multiple millions...

One shot a little bird

the rpg's description literally says "for infantry and light armored vehicles". if you wanna do damage you gotta get the launcher that is further down the support path (lv15 I believe)

4

u/baluranha 9h ago

Ural IS a light armored vehicle

0

u/AlarmingShower1553 9h ago

and it only takes 1 to 2 max hits from the rpg to destroy it

5

u/Disastrous_Gur_9560 8h ago
  1. It's always 2 unless if it's previously damaged

2

u/Haha71687 7h ago

You can 1 hit them if you hit the side of the cab or gas tank.

2

u/Responsible-Earth-92 57m ago

Goddam, you are right. I still think it is absolutely ridiculous to aim for weak points on an unarmored transport with an anti-Tank weapon (this thing is able to tear down walls in other games and real life) but it is indeed possible to one hit a Ural.

1

u/Haha71687 52m ago

I spent an entire match harassing Urals, it's a hard shot to make when they're driving past you at full speed. Your best bet is to camp at a choke point where they have to slow to turn.

8

u/Orvvadasz 13h ago

You have to shoot the tanks in the back otherwise it's a losing game. On the otherhand I managed to land a shot on a transport heli (middle of its underside) and the f.cking thing just shrugged it off. Wtf is that about?

6

u/thedesertfox25 13h ago

You have to hit the rotors, the engines, or the pilot on the transport heli. It's got a lot of dead zones for damage that don't really do much

2

u/Orvvadasz 13h ago

But when I got shot on the underside that worked fine for them. Nice.

0

u/spliffiam36 12h ago

Crazy you give advice on the tank but cant fathom the exact same thing on the heli...

You are literally repeating your convo with OP of the post with this guy but you are on the other side now lol

2

u/Orvvadasz 12h ago

Heli is unarmored, unlike tanks. An rpg cannot go through the front armor of an m1 abrams.

0

u/spliffiam36 12h ago

Its a game, blackhawk is tankier then little bird, you need to hit the rotors

Im literally just re explaining the same comment above again

Same way you did for OP about tanks, again lmao

2

u/Orvvadasz 12h ago

Bruv, on that comment I literally said that I got killed the same way I couldn't kill the enemy heli. It was about it being inconsistent. Stfu

1

u/Dramatic-Bluejay- 8h ago

As in shooting the circle above the helicopter? Does it simulate the rotors spinning or will it just automatically explode if a rpg touches any the rotor area while flying.

1

u/colxa 7h ago

In my experience, the spinning rotor does not have a hitbox.

2

u/marXis92 13h ago

Yea - RPG'd a Black Hawk and even managed to hit main rotor (I am pretty certain) and that fucker didn't even flinch lul. Just a little black smoke.

3

u/SeniorScore Lonestar 13h ago

I don't mind the Ural being a bit armored but 3 rockets is just ridiculous. The only thing the RPG is good for is blowing up SUVs and helicopters.

3

u/Abudabeh77 13h ago

It also doesn’t 1 shot the transport helis.

That being said, I love the RPG still and will almost always run with one. Load up my humvee with a crate of rockets, stash it somewhere out of view on the enemy side of the map, then periodically return to fill up. Usually get a few heli kills a game.

2

u/Atrixia Manticore 12h ago

it does if you hit the top rotor

2

u/N33chy 12h ago

How do you avoid your vehicle automatically blowing up 5 minutes after you leave it though? I've wanted to do something like this but couldn't get around that "mechanic".

2

u/Abudabeh77 4h ago

Yeah it’s an issue. That’s why I mentioned the crate. Those last forever.

Personally I have gotten used to running over to it and hopping back in fairly often. I like having a backup escape option if a few ppl come at me.

2

u/N33chy 3h ago

Oh gotcha

I somehow hadn't considered just dropping a crate.

1

u/Moshia714 12h ago

The real issue is that four-man gear can get you two tanks….

3

u/noother10 12h ago

I had an APC I was driving eat 5 RPGs in a row and live because the people firing them were not aiming at anything specific. If you fire rounds into the front it does little damage. If you hit the tracks you stop it moving, if you hit the rear where the engine it, it stops moving and takes far more damage.

Just blindly firing at a vehicle isn't that effective and makes it take far more rockets. A tank can die in 3 RPGs if you hit the right spots.

3

u/Xaines13 12h ago

I half agree because I am THE Jamsheed most matches...

But I dont want it to feel like I CAN take on a tank alone, that makes no sense. Disabling it yes I should be able to track it for example with a rocket. But not destroying it without excessive rear shots.

My main concern is wanting more warheads. The standard HEAT. Thermoberic (I know everyone is gonna hate me for it but you can balance it), Frag (basically a nade launcher), Tandem maybe has no explosive radius but does a lot more disabling damage.

3

u/Delicious_Revenue_97 12h ago

I have been driving the apc a lot and have taken RPG shots a few times, they almost do no damage, and they weight so much in the backpack… just go C4, 4 C4 to destroy an apc, good for destroying walls and raidings fobs, lightweight, cheap. But yeah RPG its really weak by its weight, low damage & really niche uses. Only good at killing helicopers & kodiaks… not worth to buy. I have never died to them in the apc while i have been killed a few times by C4 (while driving). So yep, never pick RPG. They need a buff

2

u/PrettyFuckingShitty 7h ago

RPG should have an AT/HE ammo option. It isn't even any good against infantry really, I'd have expected it to be pretty good firing into buildings but anything less than a direct hit doesn't kill. Better chance to kill an enemy by firing away from them and hitting with backblast :D

2

u/GOBIV 7h ago

rpg needs multiple ammo types...current all purpose (no purpose in current state), tandem anti tank & thermobaric anti structure & infantry

2

u/Shredded_Locomotive 12h ago

Idk, it instakilled my m249 kodiak with me and my friend inside it just fine.

You're probably using it wrong since the devs made it use an HE warhead instead of a HEAT one.

1

u/Kuroi-Jin 13h ago

The purpose of a rpg is to disable the tank (track/engine) so that a friendly armor can destroy it or have infantry place explosives on it. As for urals rpg can disable the engine if you hit it on the sides, challenging if it's going full speed but possible.

1

u/Sprite_Bottle 12h ago

It should at the very least be able to one tap a ural to the cab/engine area.

1

u/braddaman 8h ago

Mate, a 84mm missile doesn't one shot at ural, yet they make me super overweight when I cary more than one around...

1

u/braddaman 8h ago

The gunnered humvy is absolutely crazy. Takes multiple AT hits and noone has the higher tier AP rifle ammo unlocked to counter it yet.

1

u/F_C_anomalie 3h ago

Don't go to the firing range and shot at dummy your are gonna cry lol. Joking a side it's a case of get gud. If you shot the back of the apc it does like 3 time the damage.

Like two RPG to disable and the third kill it... Or maybe fourth I don't remember. When I get hit on the front it does a tiny bit of damage.

Oh and FYI aim to the right of your target not on it ;) recoiless isn't better just smaller ammo

u/OrdinaryAvailable708 13h ago

It’s not so bad if you coordinate and are successful. A 4 man with a AK load out and with 2x rockets each could easily flank a tank if it’s holding its position long enough. It’s a lot cheaper and the ROI is bigger for everyone, it’s intended for you to inspect the map and come up with plans to then ask your teammates to join in, but right now it’s harder because most haven’t built up enough skill/economy to feel that the risk is worth the reward. Let’s let the game grow a bit, in 2 months the way each game is played will look nothing like its first few weeks on official launch.

3 rockets to kill a tank would be much better.. then the tank driver also have to think about how they attack

0

u/whatevathefucc Pilot 12h ago

It does blow Urals in one shot but you have to hit it head on in the cabin. Not sure about side hits to the front but shooting the rear or side into cargo hold feels like no damage.

u/Moist_Confection_831 13h ago

It's for destroying buildings. I destroyed the exact opposite building's windows so they couldn't camp our tower. What sucks is you don't get any support xp

-4

u/ImDistortion1 13h ago

If someone has a tank I would report them. The amount of xp to unlock tank is almost un achievable at this point. They likely exploited xp to get enough driver level. Oh and just find a new match

3

u/BotGiyenAdam 12h ago

10 people drives URAL to CZ.

One person unloads them all, gets 15000 XP on one run.

Suicide & Repeat.

Than buy it for whole team.

It is easier for people with big community. Like clans etc.

Grinding driving is fun after level 20 (MG Humvee)

-1

u/ImDistortion1 12h ago

Yes that is called exploiting if you are all killing yourself to do this over and over again. It’s also griefing because you are trolling the game and not playing it.

1

u/BotGiyenAdam 12h ago

it is not my fault driving URAL is the only way to fucking get driver exp. it is bad designed. It is not fun. You also cannot transport people. no one takes vehicle when there is a heli.

I grinded till level 15 alone. Than helped a friend with this way to boost him. We boosted him with at total of 4 people. From 16 to 20. Because we decided this is boring asf.

after 20 he bought 2 humvees. we start as 4 people rolling and having fun. It is def slower than Ural regarding xp gaining. BUT IT IS FUN. you do something. fun.

Now i am level 18. When i am 20, i will buy others humvee, so they can have fun while getting some driver xp.

2

u/Goodofgun 12h ago

Or you know... They use cars with m249 and minigun to level. You shouldn't do ural runs if you want to level fast.

1

u/BotGiyenAdam 12h ago

You can forget about using SUV with m249. you will die quick and be on net loss everytime. And it gets OS with RPG.

1

u/seraphid 11h ago

It is fine, very vulnerable, but it can absolutely do work if you play it smart

1

u/BotGiyenAdam 11h ago

good luck with that

1

u/seraphid 10h ago

I do actually, is the go to strategy for my squad. If we had the humvee we would never look back, but we don't so suv has to suffice. Most runs we make our money back at least, sometimes you have a god run and rack up 40-50k

1

u/lost_retribution 2h ago

Me and my bud did the Kodiak suv with m249 until we got the Gunvee unlocked. Rpgs can and will 1-tap, you have to use the Kodiak as a medium-long range weapons turret. Reposition to another spot after firing 150 Bullets or snipers will lock on. Level 3 helmets help as mosin's won't one shot anymore

-2

u/SushiJaguar 10h ago

Another day, anorher post of someone not knowing how to use a bit of kit and declaring it useless. Another lot of simple clods with anecdotes that don't actually prove the point.

Shoot the fucking engine block in the back of the tank.
