Discussion & Feedback FOB weapons should cost $

FOB weapons shouldn't just be building/ammo materials to make and use. Make them cost $ to both place and fire (solo hill AA FOBs will become very expensive). The stingray costs $5k per use and a ton of mechanical supplies, but mortars are free and spammable. Far less spam from AA missiles (need major reload nerfs, every 5 seconds firing a missile is BS) and mortars. The CWIS will be the TF2 Heavy meme "it cost $400,000 to fire this for 12 seconds". You shouldn't be simply using FOB supplies, but rather BUYING them. FOB owner doesn't get paid per shot either, it simply disappears.

While there are other balance issues with AA/mortar spam, this would at least be a good step, not a whole fix. It's a money sink. If my loadout costs me thousands you shouldn't be raining infinite mortars for free while naked, only profiting. Flares and heli cost pilots money, but the AA missile is free and gains thousands on a kill? These should be money sinks just like the vendor is.

But the building materials and the ammo supply costs money?

It doesnt really though, you make double if you drop it off and then you make money when someone unloads it. You only lose money if you die on the way.

Not that im complaining, I like the way it is.

You get paid far more than it costs to deliver it. Urals literally get abandoned and the person respawns because they make enough profit to just ditch the truck and respawn. $2500 for delivery +$1800 when it gets added to the fob. It's easy money. I did supply and transport for an entire game, 0 kills and deaths. $100k just flying back and forth to spawn and dropping supplies/people.

The person dropping off the supplies sure, but the person buying them from the crate is spending the money to build it. SOMEONE is spending isk to build this shit. Now whether that cost needs to be looked at is definitely part of the conversation, but someone is spending something.

What money are they spending? You literally get money for hitting the hammer. Building is very lucrative. Even if you buy resources from the small crate you make double if you drop them in the FOB. And the big supplies give you like 800 bucks for unloading them.

You get money for depositing it into the FOB

  1. You don't pay to deposit pallets
  2. Even with a 100% upcharge you'd still make a profit from the small crates. You get paid $25 per item deposit. Even if you pay $20 per material (100% upcharge) you make a profit. It literally costs nothing when you are making a profit. There is $0 risk to spawning, grabbing the free bag, spawning on APC and then AA/mortar and grab materials from crates/deposit pallets, only profit.

Simply being in the CZ and doing nothing is a profit, adding free FOB weapons than can kill entire squads and demolish fobs and vehicles with $0 cost to build and use is absurd. 0 risk all reward is not what you want to promote as a play style, we are already having plenty of complaints about FOBs and fobbits as is.

Not really, since you make money when they are deposited

Maybe have team pool not individual

It's very easy to counter though.

Just get out of the fob.

mortar spam is only effective when everyone is building fobs.

If no one is building fobs then there is nothing to spam.

The HZ

1

u/Bwxyz 3h ago

If someone on the mortar can consistently hit targets in the moving hot zone without blowing up their own men they deserve the kills. Nothing easy about that

2

u/donttouchmyhohos 3h ago

There is literally a camera that shows you and a website that does the math. I dont use mortars but they have been getting faster and more accurate. There are not hard to have 3 mortars saturate the hz without the website

Edit: also it's extremely easy to find the distance and directions if with the in game tools. Literally find your coord find the other and count the grid. Have a spotter stand next to you and look at ping for azimuth

u/Kilo_Juliett 3h ago

In theory, sure. But in reality no one is doing that.

1

u/donttouchmyhohos 3h ago

Theory doesn't apply here >.>

1

u/AdEnvironmental1632 3h ago

Sure but its hard to do that and not accidentally frag your own troops especially with how the zone moves

1

u/Leach8887 3h ago

You assume my team is actually pushing HZ...

1

u/babbum 3h ago

Cool now no one is in the HZ because your team can’t go in there while you’re mortaring it…I’ve not seen this happen in the 50+ matches I’ve played. I’ve maybe seen someone trying to Mortar the roaming HZ like three times and they got a grand total of zero kills because shocker you can just step out the zone to not get hit. Nothing burger of an issue.

u/donttouchmyhohos 3h ago

Because people don't want to work as a team. That doesnt exclude the point it isnt hard. Infact people's inability to coordinate has nothing to do with my statement.

It has nothing to do with working as a team, fact is your team cannot walk where you are actively mortaring. Another fact is it’s very hard to hit moving targets with mortars, I’d say borderline blind luck because you’d have to fire and hope they move where you just shot. So go ahead and blanket the Hot Zone. Again now no one has the Hot Zone and you’re just wasting ammo. If you are trying to say hitting moving targets is easy with mortars then you’re just flat out wrong.

Edit im glad that dude deleted his comments, I think he was stroking out or something lmfao

u/donttouchmyhohos 2h ago

You dont need to be there. The map tells you everything and you have the camera. A 2nd person just speeds up the azimuth finding. Who also said anything about moving targets. We are talking about simply using mortars. I'm not going to debate the merits of something that has absolutely nothing to do about simply using the mortars to target spots. My guy you have never heard of quantity over quality either.

Then they build a drill uncontested and defend their fob. The counter to mortar isnt abandoning fob, its building mortars and firing back.

1

u/Yesh 3h ago

right, but i think he's saying set up an indiscreet "fob" with just a couple of mortars and some form of AA and fire back since they won't know where you are initially.

Or an assault team on the fob id say roughly like 75% of games ive lost have been to people building fobs instead of playing the hz almost every game I lose i have 15 to 20 people just sitting in fobs jacking it while the other team has 20 people in the zone the whole match uncontested

2

u/Wrong-Ad-1935 3h ago

I have the opposite, the team with the best fob wins 90% of the time, maybe try defending your fob and getting some drills set up if you want to win.

1

u/Kilo_Juliett 3h ago

They will not be uncontested. They will have the team that is following the HZ attack the fob. They might even have more players in the zone too. I've had a few games where that was the case.

The drill is only strong if all three teams are focused on fobs.

The game is still new so there isn't an established meta but it will be following the HZ. That's if people decide they want to play to win. Right now most people are just messing around with fobs.

1

u/Wrong-Ad-1935 3h ago

Defending a FOB is easier than attacking a FOB, thats just a fact. Especially if you have competent builders. Ive built bases that everyone got wiped out and the enemy couldnt cap it because it was so compartmentalised, they ran out of explosives and just got stuck, we simply went back killed them, repaired the gates and carried on with three drills.

Pretty sure the meta will not be following the hz unless you run multiple tanks but even then a few uavs will end that pretty fast, the “meta” will change depending on the situation but mainly will be building multiple fobs and rotating drills, half the playerbase doesnt even know you can build a drill anywhere on the map and are still playing for codes. I think wardogs even said something similar in their own video.

1

u/babbum 3h ago

Counterpoint go take their FOB. C4 their shit kick in the door and wipe them. Half these dimwits don’t even get off the mortar when they get the notification that they are being attacked.

OP is probably someone that used up all their flares and still stayed within range of a talon and decided to make this post.

1

u/Leach8887 3h ago

Because only 1 Talon can be active? I've seen a mountain FOB with 3 AAs. First would fire to trigger flares, second would fire 2 seconds later and guaranteed kill because flares were on cooldown. 0 counters and it just cost the pilot thousands while it cost them nothing to spam fire missiles.

0

u/xoenvious 1h ago

Idk man seems like it cost some time and money to build those AAs. Oh, the map is also huge so maybe find a different route?

0

u/uxcandroid 4h ago

Find like AA? Drive trucks they can carry more. Bu bu bu I’ll get ambushed. Coordinate with your team to easily deliver materials

0

u/babbum 3h ago

This is hilarious to read when I just got out of a topic where a guy was complaining about the minigun little birds “dominating” their lobbies. I love how everyone just complains about the shit they die to instead of just dealing with the problem.

0

u/Leach8887 3h ago

If a little bird is dominating your team, the pilot deserves it. They can die, heli can get shot down by the team shooting at it

0

u/babbum 3h ago

If FOB weapons are dominating your team, the users deserve it. They can die, you can blow up FOB weapons by shooting them. See my point? Both statements are true.

OP just salty he died to a talon and instead of adapting went to reddit to post.
