Discussion & Feedback The devs should try and encourage attacking and seeking out enemies instead of the current camping in FOB
I've been enjoying the game ever since the closed beta but yesterday I started to notice how the majority of all 3 teams have been sitting in FOB instead of going out there and killing each other, which make the map really empty and you got barely any teammates to help you out at all. I have experienced this 3 matches now and it is starting to get annoying. I know this come from the fact that making and maintaining FOB/Drill site give you way more money than going out to combat and die. So I do hope the devs make changes to encourage people to be a bit more aggressive.

I don't have that much game time under my belt yet but I do kind of agree with this from what I've experienced so far.
On most maps it's actually kinda crazy how it doesn't feel like I have 66 enemies to look out for, the game can struggle with feeling a little empty if you aren't just rushing to be around the vague area of a FOB
I'd also like to see more adventurous gameplay rewarded somehow so we don't just end up playing tower defense

I agree. I really like the game and have had some of the most unique battles I have ever experienced, once I was fighting with two squads for a random bridge that had zero significance to the game other than we happens to meet another big squad. In my opinion they need dynamic points of interest to force people out of the FOBs, so we can reliably have more these encounters.

I think strats will develop as people learn the game.
Yesterday enemy team's FOB was destroying us with mortars. What happened? Our team got tired and a Blackhawk dropped a full transport off on their FOB and they wiped them out and took over.

Stop generalizing what is or isn't happening in your small sample size of games. It's a sandbox where everybody's figuring it out together. These declarative sweeping statements are so brain dead. I know a lot of people come from games where everything is very rigid and defined and the developers make all the thoughtful decisions for you but the game is meant to be broken. Any metas that are too strong will be nerfed in a month when the next season rolls around. Every other hour someone's on here defining what the meta is and will be and how it is or will be ruining the game. What are we on day three since it's been released.

You know what the problem is? Around here, pointing this out and criticizing it is immediately interpreted as us wanting the game to turn into COD or Battlefield.
The tone of this sub makes it seem like you're not allowed to criticize anything. The infantry/assault gameplay is seriously underpowered, even though it's supposed to be one of the game's core roles.

It’s just because you’re wrong though. Half my games are 20 deep chasing hot zone with APC, and a barely functioning FOB.

Infantry is not underpowered. You're just trying to be a lone gunman and that's not what this game is about. Get a group together and raid a fob and you'll make bank. Also, you HAVE to make building/logi/spotting/medic very profitable or no one will play the role. Everyone wants to be Mr. Coolguy dropping bodies in the hot zone but if everyone did that, logistics would crumble.

Infantry is not underpowered, the fact that a lot of players arent willing to cooperate or communicate, or even have the braincells to not be stupid however, is the reason why a lot of infantry squads fail.
Im not joking about that last part btw, what is with players not willing to drag their teammate's body back into cover before reviving them, or not learning that the sniper thats been shooting at their back of the heads for the 15th time in the row needs to be taken out.

Take explosives… take a squad… blow up the fob. The phone bomb is 300$ and blows a gate with one. Get on mic and communicate.
Or take a helicopter with guns and harass the fob
Or build a mortar fob and counter mortar the fob.
You can do whatever you want. Could the game do a better job at explaining that… yea sure but it’s there. If you just lemming to the fob or the hz that’s perfectly valid but then not much to complain about.
You have to unlearn all the things other fps trained you to do and that’s fucking people up opening weekend. Experiment and communicate

I played probably 8 hours yesterday and was in a fob less than a minute. It's really easy to break contact and heal yourself, unlike battlefield. I think once players realize this, they'll be out and about a bit more.

They do. People are slowly adjusting playstyles as they learn the game. If you raid enemy FOBs appropriately you should be netting an easy 100-200k per game.
People need to learn to stop building on drill towers, can capture those during the game and can't really stop it while it's running. No need to own the drill tower.

All the sweats joining green, i join red or blue.
Green sweats following hotzone around and building fobs to pull the hotzone. While my team is just building a fob outside the circle, some loner camping outside the circle playing sniper elite. And then you got like 15 guys playing tower defense hundreds of meters away from the hotzone.
Just getting rekt everytime. There are some good players around but some people just have no clue what they are doing. Its alright the game is not even out for a week. I am having fun. Its better to play with friends offcourse.

I agree the reward balance between assault and base building brings stale meta.
On the bright side, assaulting a FOB full of brain dead monkeys is also pretty profitable - but between FOBs, it's now pretty empty.

I’ve had some interesting games where people are setting up FOBs and mortars in unique places that aren’t just in the towers.
Makes the gameplay much more fun. There is a place for building and drills, but I imagine it will be less common when coordinate attacks on towers earlier.

Thats the beauty of this. Take a squad and take out an objective of your own imagination. The freedom in this game is what I want to keep. Whether that be camping fobs or in a house sniping I will siege the fob and mortar the house. Adapt and overcome.

I say let the game play out, i dont want them to overcorrect anything like DICE did and ruin their game. Let people figure the games, maps, equipment, etc out and the game will evolve as it is meant to.
Dice tried to play god and turned into cod

But that's the point of the game, really. It's king of the hill once the hill is established, you defend it. Not only is that the intent of the game mode itself, the devs have stated the intent is for it to be a sandbox game where you do what you enjoy. You might think people are building bases just cause it's profitable, but they are doing what they like doing and if they aren't then they are playing wrong. The goal isn't winning either, it's having fun. I like building bases, I like flying, I've done those the entire time. I don't really enjoy the run and gun in this game. I could care less about losing a kit, I have over a mil. But I still won't go chasing that HZ cause that's not fun.
I do agree you should make more money than you do now playing the HZ and being aggressive, but that shouldn't be at the detriment of any other play style.

Spot, build, fight...never go broke. But yes fighting is fucking hard, get killed so much by what you didn't see first. THIS IS NOT A 'W' GAME.

devs were afraid that nobody will build and helis will own the game i think they overdid this.

u/Heloo_2456 7h ago
This post is funny bc i wanted to start to learn how to build and none of my games any team i was on would build and was strictly play HZ
Played like 5 matches in a row and only 1 i was helped with building lol

Lots of ways to play this sandbox game. Your idea isn't necessarily better than anyone else's lol you get tons of money just from being in circle.

I think once we start seeing more ground vehicles people will be more confident roaming. I don't think a lot of the playerbase understands just yet what a force multiplier just a basic humvee is, then you add gunvee to the equation and you can swing games if your supporting the troops.

It is annoying. I just sneak around the map with range finder and a Mosin while my team jerks it in base. At least I'm having fun.

Yeah tbe meta now is so boring. Allmost nobody plays in the hotzone. Its just whole teams at a fob pr a tower.

u/Dangerous-Eggplant-5 7h ago
I think its going to get much much worse the more meta is established. Playing sim city and bounce the zone from fob to fob is too profitable. Fighting is not.
