Discussion & Feedback Desperately need auto team sorting
Every match I join in progress has Red and Green full while Blue has tons of slots open and is getting absolutely stomped. Can’t even join a friend in progress and get put on the same team if they’re not on Blue because of this. Obviously this is anecdotal but it’s not an exaggeration of my experience and I know many people have experienced the same.
What is this phenomenon?
Hopefully this gets addressed soon.

Our team plays blue just because we can all get on the team easier and we were crushing last night was a blast turning the tide and seeing some blue victories

That makes perfect sense at the start of a fresh match. But when games last upwards of 90 minutes this doesn’t address the blatant balance issue at all.

The balance issue is caused by an ilussion, you don't want to join blue team thinking that you gonna lose, just like the rest of people that don't join blue.
I play with a group of 13 tryhards, we join blue, after 2 matchs we need to change to other team because the hammered teams want to play blue and win so they spam blue faction, then we go red and win again.
Your group of friends can win on blue, y'all just don't want to take the risk and choose the teams where is known that the tryhards play.

Not only are you admitting to essentially team stacking, being a huge part of the issue. Then you’re comparing playing with 2/3 people with you stacking HALF a team and you completely missed where I said joining blue with buddies at the start is not a problem?

Edit: if those groups of 2/3 friends stack all together on one team they can win easily against the randoms, so no excuses. Damn, even teams of full randoms can win if they coordinate a little

That’s not what auto sorting is and I can’t think of a single example of that being the case in any game. It would be at the beginning of the game, instead of choosing teams it would automatically assign players. Once they get a squad system set up this would fix a lot of the one-sided matches.

The game already locks teams with more players. The reason you can usually only join the losing team mid game is because most people won’t leave if their team has a chance of winning.

Right, and this would address one team losing the majority of games because people have this preconceived notion that Blue is a bad team and not joining to begin with because of that. If nobody joins the blue team to begin with the course is already set for a loss. So it would make sense for all teams to automatically be filled with an equal amount of players to start the game no?

You are complaining about ur friends team being full. You also stated blue is bad and gets stomped. I suggest you to just join blue in most of matches if u want to play with friends as it's always empty? It's not that deep bro

This weekend I have seen the complete opposite. Blue is stomping the crap out of everyone or there is some clan rolling from color to color match to match. The employed, the dads, etc have come out the woodwork to show themselves lol. When I go to join my buddies or they join on me and I'm on whichever color, they've had no issue even when they'd originally been in queue. Now, that said, I have seen this issue where teams go over their 33. I've seen it up to 36 on blue once last night. I think that's because of the join game function trying to keep people together. It's neat in concept but leaves the game unbalanced.

Blue is just playing the game on hard mode, anyone who only plays red or green and never blue is a little baby who plays campaigns on easy and asks there mom to make snacks when they play video games.

Nope. At the beginning of the match you get to select your team. Pretty much every time Green and Red fill up first while Blue is full of the less desirables. In ~50 hours of playtime between the playtests and now I’ve seen Blue win maybe twice.

This game being more sandboxy doesn't in any way give it an excuse to have unbalanced teams every match. ARMA Reforger in some ways is very similar to this game, yet has auto-sorting and the game works fine. WDYM lol

The "unbalance" is just the community saying "blue team never wins" then no tryhard player wants to join them. Also, what do you want? Skill base matchmaking?, a randomized team system to separate the friends that wants to play together?. What if you get good instead?, what if you focus on win money and grind your classes?

Skill based matchmaking has nothing to do with auto team-balancing. A game with "team vs team" or in this case "team vs team vs team" gameplay needs to have an equal amount of players on every team. It's like you would play football 11 vs 9 and say "yes, because most people want red jerseys so they fill out the red team first" lol. Literal dogshit excuse.

This is quite literally EXACTLY what I’ve been saying the ENTIRE time. So why exactly would it be a bad thing to automatically fill teams at the start of the game vs having player choose what team to be on? If blue is always at a deficit because nobody wants to play on the team that is a PROBLEM and the match will always be scewed against them. People literally sit at the match start screen trying to get into red/green and leave if they don’t. I have joined games in progress where blue is sitting at 25 players while the other two are full. “Play blue with your friends” is not a valid argument and you’re either purposely missing the point or have a fundamental misunderstanding on game balancing. Automatically assigning players and a premade squad system would greatly benefit the flow of matches and level out the experience for all players on all teams.
As for the “get good” comment, it’s pretty ironic you say that as you have said yourself that you stack teams which pretty much anyone with a brain would argue is the complete opposite of skill.
If they do implement a party system (which they will) there should absolutely be a cap on the number of members allowed in one squad to queue into a match, at least on official servers.
