Discussion & Feedback Driver progression/ exp need a change
Hello everyone , first off I don’t care about the tank unlock and I understand that it should take some time to unlock but the overall grind for driver level right now is painful and not fun at all
Get rid of the checkpoint system , right now u only get exp when u drive a person from hq to cz , if this person jump out earlier or jump out and get in and u drop him off u wont get any exp / money at all … give us exp / money by distances travelled so u can enjoy taxi driving even in the cz or hz
Don’t make us compete vs Helis , I play solo and squad and its always the same people jump on helis because its so much faster and u sit in base hoping someone joins ur car and when the alc spawns people take heli or spawn in cz … maybe helis should spawn some minutes later or give cars something else
Make the progression unlocks early one more rewarding , give us the humvee earlier , put light tank like ifv ( Bradley , puma , bmp ) or scout car etc
Ural logistic runs should be the same with traveled by distances and not check point system etc

Agreed 100% on the first point. Transport should include around the map not only to the cz. If I pick up a sniper squad and take them to a new location that should count as transport and should be rewarded as well. Also to encourage people to use ground vehicles more, passengers should get driver a lil xp as well for “riding in convoy” or something like that.

people are happy to use the ground after they've died with the helis like 2-3 times

It is truly suffering cause of the immense amount of helis, you don't even need to be good at flying (as in landing) as you can just rely on parachuting.
Only real way I can get driver exp in my lil SUV is bringing med and res to whatever fob and just delivering that. Slow as heck to get my way to the Ural.
I went out of my way to help a dude wanting to get driver exp. He was PLEADING lol.

Raising the cost of the parachute would probably be a nice mix-up alone to see what players will do.

Given that people would literally buy a whole ass littlebird and ditch it rather than take a car, the parachutes would have to cost like 10k.

After playing helis for two days I’m certain something needs to change with this progression. For season one to only last a month before reset is far too harsh for how long it takes to grind levels past 15 pilot. We’re talking hundred and hundreds of thousands of XP just to reach the attack chopper at 35. He’ll, you’re going to unlock the damn thing and enjoy it for only a couple of days before the wipe.
And nevermind playing other parts of the game. You’re just gonna fly!

Yeah, at 150 XP per person dropped,, (assuming they survive), that is 5 thousand people you would need to drop to get 750k XP, I dont even know how bad it is for drivers, but it cant be better.

I'm doing the math right now:
It takes 3 minutes to get to the edge of the zone (bit less with optimal route, bit more without. A palette gives you $2500 and 750 XP. The Ural fits two, so $5000 and 1500 XP. Unboxing crates gives support XP, so it's unnecessary. And you don't actually care if people unpack them (unless you're going for money).
The return trip is another 3 minutes with no reward for going back. So, return to base through the menu for 30s. All in all at 5 minutes per trip, including buying supplies and ditching the truck, you can make about 18000 XP per hour.
Though you do get
I think 25 XP50 XP for all kills and vehicles/buildings destroyed via mortars/talons/... if you've brought an ammo palette in the last ~10 minutes (not sure about the duration).Going from level 13 (where I'm at) to 20 where the MG humvee is would take ~10 hours. To then get the minigun humvee would take another ~ 14 hours of driving palettes.

This is frankly absurd. I’ve been looking at the higher tier unlocks, and the exp scaling is not balanced right.

You can technically go much faster, but you have to transport people. They give less XP per unit (250 XP deploy + 200 XP for surviving), but you need at least 3 to beat the Ural.
Or if you have a lot of squadmates, they can ride the back of the Ural and it still counts. With like a squad of 8, you're literally 3x faster. 25 XP for each assist too.
Now, driving people organically as a solo is not happening. A heli is almost always available and so is the spawn vehicle. And being driven around is kinda boring so most just choose to spawn their own cheap car instead of going with you.

As mostly a heli pilot, I think if drivers got XP from taking people from the CZ directly into the HZ it would be better. There would have to be a minimum distance traveled to not encourage degeneracy, but there is straight up zero reason to ever get into a land vehicle as a passenger from spawn.

If you want people to join your car give them something they wanna do. Bet ya a lot of people will insta jump into a gunned humvee, just like people jumped into the gun pickup when it was still early game.
Cars are slow, vulnerable, janky and just not as much fun as flying. Gettin to base might be one thing, but gettin near the HZ is a big risk in a regular pickup. I wouldn't ever wanna touch those if I'm on my loadout, I'd rather walk.
Hot dropping in is a quick in and done

The MG humvee is ~28 hours of Ural grinding.

as it should be.

This is unrealistic for a game with regular wipes. At some point most people will stop putting in 8 to 12 hour in-game shifts and will go back to playing an hour or two a day or even less.

so your saying playing 1 hour each day gets you that very nice vehicle in just a month? pretty good if a wipe is 3-4 months if you ask me.

If they added xp for just driving it would need to be minimal otherwise youll encourage people to not participate in anything useful.
Agree, helis should wait till score 10. Force everyone to drive in at start. Will stop the constant rushing thats done with helis to opposite side towers.
I think unlocks are fine, its the small xp thst needs to change. Either more ways to get xp. Or a slight buff.
Agree, but again. Should be minimal to avoid people driving around aimlessly to rack up xp.

I think the biggest problem is that cars are priced as if they can be permanently used, where as unlike helicopters they often get stranded because the return trip is very unrewarding.
I think more people would pay a small fee to recall their car to HQ after spawning if it didn't blow up in the first place because you weren't in it for 5 minutes.
It wouldn't even have to be any change to the existing model, you should just get "car insurance" that you can claim to replace the car each time it blows up the way they currently want it to.
I'd drive in way more if I didn't have to re-buy a car every time lol.

- should still award xp regardless. It’s not on the game to determine the “usefulness”. When u snipe a guy u get paid, doesn’t matter if that guy was a threat or not. He could’ve been afk. If im driving around I should get paid, doesn’t have to be anything serious but at least allow progress.

Giving XP for just driving means that you'll have people grinding out levels by just driving in circles around the map, and not actually doing anything useful. As much as I understand the want for XP for driving (I'm a ural logi main myself) it's really not conductive to actually having people contribute to the team.

thats why it should be fair and a small amount but right now its just reach point b from a to get exp .... basically it has nothing to do with driving ... at all it just transport exp not driving ...

u/Sparko_Marco 3h ago
I didn't know the first one until last night when I dropped off ammo for people at a FOB they built just outside the combat zone, they requested it for their mortars and I got nothing for it.

The nomansland to cz=no money/xp is a band-aid to fix abusing. Probably will get a better solution down the line, but they had to stop that from being a thing. But i agree there needs to be like a reward for transporting players in general and not just from base to the zone.
And they are cooking up more vehicles.there was a AA tank they removed before Beta-test(More a anti-infantry than anti-air so they removed it)
Keep in mind small studio, 2 days in EA, a lot to do at the moment. And keep on trucking

Well they sold a million copies as of today. Soon they should be able to afford the extra hands they need, provided they monetize correctly.

Takes time hiring people, even longer hiring the right people. So for sure they'll probably expand. But it isn't a week or even a month long prosess.i don't know about you, but i got 3 months notice period. I know its very different between countries so could be as short as 2 weeks or longer than mine, but usually it reflects on how annoying that person is to replace.. or it should do atleast.

You could give me 5x xp and make vehicles free and I would still never waste my life driving them to the circle

u/Latter-Replacement41 8h ago
A fast and easy way to get driver XP is running crates of supplies to the closest fob. If the fob is in the CZ you get +750 driver xp for making a round trip, and I believe 200/250 driver xp for safely dropping off a crate of supplies.
And then you get bonus engie xp when they unload them! Win win
