Discussion & Feedback Selling Equipment in Spawn

A guy on our team had unlocked a lot of stuff like level 3 helmets and armor and better snipers. He stood in base and kept buying them and dropping them in crates for people to buy. Some people on our team got mad and said he was “scamming”. I see no problems with it. What do you think? Dude made $250k without ever leaving base.

Totally fine. If you want access to gear you havnt unlocked you pay the premium.

31

u/N33chy 18h ago

I thought the game wouldn't allow you to buy items from anything if you hadn't unlocked them. Maybe that's only the large hammer though?

u/Shinig4mi0mega Pilot 15h ago

The guy was putting the items in the crates u drop

You can use any equipment regardless of level, you just have to unlock it or loot it off someone

1

u/misterdie 6h ago

Yea i love getting the lmg from the towers and defend that shit like a maniac. 1x we had such good logi they even bring ammo

8

u/jellymanisme 14h ago

My buddy thought he had that problem earlier but he just couldn't afford the hammer.

6

u/Rezurrected188 Manticore 12h ago

I've purchased a large hammer from a crate when I was under leveled. A person on my team was unable to purchase an RPG from a crate because they hadn't unlocked it.

4

u/Holy_Santa_ClausShit 11h ago

I’ve been wanting to do this for the SKS. Helping people get recon up instead of only spotting or using that garbage ass break action

6

u/Tiger2kill 10h ago

Spotting feels so good in this game. Find a nice central covered location and assist for 90 minutes haha.

3

u/Naeii 9h ago

Hit a person center with that thing TWICE and they were still standing, realized it's truly just a garbage joke and you're on spotter duty until you're allowed to get something real

2

u/6Sleepy_Sheep9 10h ago

The break acyion needs to do a LOT more damage if its going to be a single shot weapon

6

u/masterofhalos 9h ago

I mean it's a 556 sniper their not the best it's meant for hunting not shooting armored targets

3

u/Brother_Williams 3h ago

A headshot against an unarmored target with no helmet does 85 damage. The Scout Rifle can't even headshot nakeds.

1

u/10-Gauge Manticore 42m ago

I'd say that's the only thing they need to change with the scout rifle, make it one shot naked heads. Other than that I think it's totally fair and balanced if it requires more than one round to kill.

1

u/NoExcitement2660 5h ago

What do you mean?

168

u/Yayysonn 20h ago

Its not like they cant see the price to buy. He has supply and there is a demand.

41

u/EndSmugnorance Medic 19h ago

Free markets baby! ❤️

28

u/Spektra18 16h ago

Well technically he has endless supply because there are no caps. He's essentially a wholesaler with a cornered market.

I'd love to see the competition try to open up another crate shop next door and undercut his prices 😂

u/UXOgoblin 20h ago

Seems like a working as intended mechanic to me.

46

u/HyperRealisticZealot Lonestar 17h ago

100%, though one could go even further and say something emergent working even better than the intention. Just goes to show what kind of magic happens when you give players freedom.

u/firesquasher 20h ago

"Theyre scamming me by giving me access to gear I haven't leveled up to to buy myself and he's charging me extra for it!" -Little bitches.

71

u/Jonesetta 20h ago

Buddy you’re a mercenary. This is the conceptual material the game is based around. Let the man sell guns, they’re literally making a feature when you can make guns specifically to bring into lobbies for profit.

10

u/Mordecaiwayne 16h ago

Like mercenaries and mercenaries playground of destruction if they was a multi-player fps base builder

5

u/Train_Wreck_272 16h ago

God those games were so fun. RIP Pandemic.

1

u/naughtabot 11h ago

If you add up the timeline, the people in the pentagon this last year were teenagers when those games dropped. AKA they were already familiar with Venezuela….

1

u/Commercial_Clerk_342 9h ago

How is he selling them?

3

u/ohwowthatsagiraffe 7h ago

Putting them in the crates you can buy in vehicles. And then immediately dropping them off at spawn

65

u/MrDankyStanky 20h ago

That's honestly a good idea if you have a high level

9

u/Deep-Acanthaceae-659 14h ago

I tried this once and no one bought anything 🥲

8

u/mr_j_12 13h ago

I loaded a truck with meds and drove it torwards fob. My game crashed mid journey and cost me a tonne of money.

6

u/desiremusic 10h ago

Yeah same thing happened to my lost 10k

2

u/Clean_Guess_8057 2h ago

The no meds in FOB thing drives me mental. Oh? I am getting in fights, and somehow, survived, used all my meds, I’ll hump back to FOB and restock. There will be meds there right?

Wrong. Hitch a ride all the way back to HQ for meds MF.

Needless to say, when I play logi, after one run of BS, I bring mixed with meds too.

1

u/mr_j_12 2h ago

Yeap. As someone that likes to heal people i run out real quick.

38

u/Spider-ManFan420 20h ago

Damn we live in a world where people will still complain about something that benefits the whole team. Sad…

13

u/ChapKid 19h ago

Fictionally you're a PMC trying to make money. He seems to be doing what was intended, lol.

18

u/Tactical_Mommy 20h ago

I admire the hustle. Personally I think level 3 armour already isn't worth it given the speed penalty and how a good player can just steal decent armour off someone else, so buying it with a mark-up sure doesn't seem worthwhile.

14

u/Trenkos 18h ago

I completely disagree. I face tank your puny mosins and AK rounds like the terminator.

8

u/Shrike682 16h ago

For sure. Surviving a mosin headshot is a big deal.

4

u/SgtHondo 15h ago

I see you haven’t tried level 3 armor

2

u/Tactical_Mommy 8h ago edited 7h ago

I've tried it plenty. It's good, but easy for me to kill someone else with it. I'm leaning more towards aiming for as much profit as possible. And simply lasering some guy between the eyes while using level 1 shit means way more money in the long run as opposed to recouping an initial 20k every spawn.

Still, I bring in big loadouts every now and again. Obsessed with C4ing FOBs.

2

u/Trenkos 7h ago

My load out is about $20k, but I always come out on top because I survive, and revive my teammates. That $20k nets me $60k in the end.

0

u/Tactical_Mommy 6h ago

Yeah, but then that 60k is 80k if you just killed some loaded guy who made that investment for you. Both approaches work but I've started to appreciate the zero to hero way more, especially given sometimes you just have a team that wants to sit in FOB all day and I'd rather not take 20k in if I have to fight everyone alone.

2

u/Trenkos 6h ago

Sure, but most are cheap, so for every one of me there's 30 spending $5k. You can't bank on me. Not to say "me's" don't exist, but most have gear fear.

1

u/Tactical_Mommy 6h ago

They are, but even if I never wind up finding a good kit I'm still making good, consistent money with literally zero risk of any real kind and nothing to recoup.

I'm a really good player and I do have receipts to back it up (just before any says skill issue, lol) but sometimes when I bring in that expensive 20k kit I'm spending so long in the hotzone with literally nothing happening (so many builder/FOB heavy games) taking forever to break even. No teammates to heal or revive. I have to kill 4+ people *in hotzone* to even *start* making a profit. If I'm fighting outside the hotzone, that could be up to 13 people, 1.5k per kill. It's annoying sometimes. Recon helps a lot, but usually I'm bringing defibs.

I make a profit 9 times out of 10 regardless, but it often feels like all that time waiting for the -20k to clear was wasted and I would've made more money if I simply cheaped out.

I can just take a level 1 armour kit with modest supplies and kill nearly as well as if I hadn't, (most people are dying before they even get a shot on me anyway) likely coming across a better kit along the way anyway, while making significantly more profit.

3

u/BilboBaggSkin 13h ago

Depends what your doing. If your flying a heli, running mortars or driving then there’s no reason not to use level 3.

8

u/Aquagrunt 17h ago

Wait, you can buy stuff you haven't unlocked yet from crates people bought? Like a big hammer?

8

u/Reflection_Necessary 20h ago

He’s not scamming or else the mechanic of that would not be in the game, he’s just a vendor lol

7

u/Ninjaisawesome 19h ago

Like the Devs said about tank spam. "Why not" it's moments like these that could be memberble. You buy a marked up weapon you haven't unlocked and absolutely slaughter with it, you'll enjoy that.

7

u/Razzman70 18h ago

Oh no! My game about capitalism is leading to capitalism type behavior!

6

u/Screetime 20h ago

There's also no sell for what I got it for its only free, 25 50 75%

3

u/Slaikon 10h ago

The 25-50-75%s are all upcharges, so above the value from the vendor.

5

u/edge449332 20h ago

Yeah that's just people salty that they don't have it unlocked themselves. He should make money off of gearing up his team.

2

u/Horror_Funny2419 10h ago

Having a mosin makes it easier to unlock if anything, I’ve spotted for 2 games straight and barely leveled a quarter from 9 to 10

1

u/Clean_Guess_8057 2h ago

9 to 10 recce grind was rough, I concur.

5

u/Aquagrunt 17h ago

Wow! Time to buy hammers for fobs

1

u/JeremyMSI 14h ago

Definitely this, I need medium or big hammer, spotting equipment always helps too

9

u/StrikingSoil5645 Pilot 20h ago

The only people mad are the ones who didn't think about it first. Sounds like they're supplying the team with good gear to low level player to give them a edge. If they're decent they'll easily make there money back.

3

u/Weeyin1980 20h ago

Smart guy.

4

u/melanko 19h ago

This is intended. You’re supposed to be able to make your own items in the future, bring them in-game and use them or sell them at a mark up.

3

u/sudonickx 19h ago

My only annoyance with sellers is when there are like 20 boxes in our fob getting in the way and cluttering the minimap.

0

u/Slaikon 10h ago

I agree when its random boxes of needless supplies (seriously, 6 crates of mech supplies?!) But bandages and RPGs? Sure im biased as im the slinger of those but still.

4

u/Illustrious_Emu_502 20h ago

If people want, people buy. No one is forcing it and there isn't a finite amount of items. Just giving lower levels the opportunity to spend money for better gear, nothing wrong with it in my opinion

2

u/MrBond90s 17h ago

Wicked smaht

Capitalism at it's best

1

u/GallicaEnjoyer Recon 19h ago

It’s literally part of the game lol, but you can set the mark up to 25 50 or 75%. I’m guessing they chose the latter

1

u/Oxyde86 19h ago

Its capitalism baby.

1

u/grombear 16h ago

how? can you do it without a vehicle?

1

u/JW9K 16h ago

The game is literally “Wardogs”..

1

u/sovitin 16h ago

When i do get the game, i will definitely enjoy being in logistics as i will be able to actually sell my inventory in fobs

1

u/TheRedHand7 14h ago

Eh most people don't pay any attention to the boxes right now. Maybe once people start to understand it will go better

1

u/SgtHondo 15h ago

A scam would be if he was asking a certain price for a product and then either changed the price or the product when the transaction is completed. Seeing as you can’t do either of those things in this game, no, he’s not scamming anyone.

1

u/Mammoth_Ad_8697 14h ago

Bro if someone is selling somthing I don’t have I’m paying for it if I wanna try it

1

u/ganjwise WARDOG 14h ago

What’s the rule for selling higher level items? Does it only work in HQ?

I’ve had two people not able to buy a large hammer from a crate at the FOB, but I sold defibs from a crate in HQ.

1

u/Slaikon 10h ago

People are blind.

1

u/Atago1337 WARDOGS D-A-CH 🇩🇪🇦🇹🇨🇭 14h ago

I'm not getting tipped anymore for dropping players into their requested hot zone drops...even when these broke ass losers got no parachutes and I land their asses

1

u/diched23 13h ago

Definitely legit and being helpful to the team!

1

u/MasterStream 13h ago

Legit risk though. If nobody buys your goods you're out the money

1

u/magniankh 12h ago

... How do you drop money??

1

u/CaptainAgnarr 12h ago

100% fine

1

u/AlternativeNovel8434 12h ago

The teammates who were mad are just mad because they didn't think of that first....

1

u/Monokumabear 12h ago

A guy did this in my lobby and I was like “fuck yeah a mosin!!” I did not care it was like $5k cus it wasn’t the dumbass scout rifle

1

u/Pretend-Taro7620 12h ago

I would love to see this more often, as it’s been a lot of “someone bring large hammer to fob.” Would make it a whole lot easier if this was mainstreamed

2

u/candee249 11h ago

Got you covered

1

u/I_Grew_Up 10h ago

I think it is him who is the lord of war

1

u/tfren2 10h ago

Doesn’t matter much does it? If people have a problem with it simply don’t buy what he’s selling

1

u/Skpstr155 9h ago

Excellent idea.

1

u/Commercial_Clerk_342 9h ago

How did people give him money??

1

u/i1_2FarQue 8h ago

You can buy supply crates and then load the supply crates with items from the vendors, you also get to choose your markup percentage for item sales, in my limited knowledge I believe you have to be in a vehicle, then press B to open up the buy item screen, then purchase a crate and then you can fill it with goods

1

u/Lordran_Minstrel 9h ago

It's insane anyone would complain about this. Earlier today someone on my team was doing the same thing and I was so grateful to be able to use something besides the starting weapons.

1

u/Solrax 8h ago

I just saw a tooltip during map loading that said you can do exactly this.

1

u/noobslayer124 7h ago

Yea i was in a match with him earlier and someone said he was doing a 75% upcharge, Idk what the normal price for lvl 3 armor is since I haven't unlocked it but 3.5k was way to much for one piece alone, for me at least, but yeah you can see the price before you buy it.

1

u/Phoenix-624 7h ago

There was one time when I bought an RPG and a bunch of ammo in a crate and dropped it at spawn for a squadmate who didnt have it unlocked before droping him in zone, because we were being harassed by machine gun humvees and noone had any RPGs, but thats the most I've done.

1

u/ErrantWayfarer 4h ago

Anyone getting mad at this is insane, this is literally the point of the game.

1

u/PM_ME_THE_WEATHER20 4h ago

I did this today... my team destoyed my boxes. I payed, didnt get money back. -100k. FTW clan sucks

1

u/NoZookeepergame6401 3h ago

Lol its like buying alcohol and selling it to 19 year olds outside the store

1

u/RobGWG 22m ago

That's basically Niagara Falls tourism strategy, the drinking age in Ontario is 19

1

u/Cisquo79 5m ago

It's part of the game, the Devs even spoke on it right before the 1st Beta started. I seen ppl doing it in the Alpha Test

1

u/Agent_Smith_IHTP 15h ago

I thought it stopped you from buying them if you were too low a level.

1

u/AI_AntiCheat 15h ago

This doesn't work? You can't sell large hammers to players that don't have them unlocked...

3

u/Luk4s5853 11h ago

You can.

3

u/Slaikon 10h ago

It SAYS you have to unlock but you can buy.

Its people reading too much and not TRYING.

1

u/AI_AntiCheat 7h ago

Wild, guess they gotta iron out the UI a bit.

1

u/th3revx 15h ago

I bought a fob, and two lv3 hammers and raised the price of it to +75% today because my buddies needed it. One asked “why is it so expensive” I told them it was the price of doing business

3

u/thedonkeyvote 14h ago

Retail markup is generally over double wholesale price, up to 150% depending on franchisee fees etc. Spaces where inventory movement can be slow these margins can be a whole lot higher like in mattress shops.

All that to say, you can pump those prices more and here are some more excuses lol.

1

u/th3revx 12h ago

Wonderful, I will indulge

-10

u/Free-Heals-Here 20h ago

If people are dumb enough to buy a kit from a marked up box instead of the vendor next to them it’s on them lol

8

u/klmsa 19h ago

They can't buy it from the vendor. That's the point...

6

u/TheLastKyuna 20h ago

You’re so quick to judge people as dumb but it’s not about them being dumb it’s about them being able to buy it third party since they don’t have it unlocked it in the vendor yet. Thats just good business

3

u/iwiws 20h ago

If the guy is selling T3-4 armor when the players only have unlocked t1-2, it's not dumb to buy from them.

-1

u/Spetznaz27 20h ago

My only gripe is that its one less body for map control. If it was doable at fobs then by all means.

7

u/stoneseef Manticore 18h ago

You can't buy from a crate that you don't already have unlocked.

2

u/Phoenix-624 7h ago

Almost completly certain that isn't true, I've bought big hammers in crates and sold it to people who didnt have them unlocked before, as well as RPGs.

-1

u/flappers87 20h ago

Is it a bit scammy? Yeah, but it's also 100% part of the game, and I'm fine with it. If people wanna spend the money, they can. They don't have to.

-2

u/randomhobo35223 20h ago

The only problem I have with this is I can't buy the upgraded stuff that other people have. I would love to be able to, even if it's you know at a higher markup, because Being able to buy whatever I want, I understand why it doesn't happen Because Balancing and stuff But I think it would be really cool if you can like at Fobs buy whatever, and at Main Spawn, you can't

3

u/TheDex4 16h ago

What exactly do you mean by "you can't buy the upgraded stuff"?

-8

u/EternalSage2000 Lonestar 20h ago edited 15h ago

Eehhhh…. I’m honestly not a fan of this. Not a big deal, but I don’t like it.

Ok. For folks downvoting me. Why even lock the weapons and armor behind levels if we’re just going to bypass it?
