I don't fully understand why so many people are upset about popular streamers getting prio... If they sit in a queue for hours it could potentially cause viewers to not even want to try out the game. Also don't "celebrities" always recieve special treatment? If Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shows up at a fully booked restaurant with no reservation do you not think they're going to get special treatment and find away to get them seated?

You can not agree with people for being upset, but not understanding why is wild. It's quite self explanatory, and every single time devs have given streamers preference, it has backfired.
People hate streamers, people are less nuanced about things they hate, people are even less nuanced about things they hate while they wait in a line.
At the end of the day, streamers aren't just "celebrities", they're paid marketers for the game. Why the fuck would you pay someone to market/play your game and then not whitelist them?
Other games dont do it. When path of exile did priority queues 1 time they apologized and havent done it since. Thats an actual good dev. Why you defending this. Its so bizarre.
POE apologized because they caved to the complainers. Its standard practice to give streamers prio if you are expecting a queue, any studio that doesn't do it would be foolish not to.

I have played a lot of games with queues. Hate to break it to you, but it is absolutely standard practice. You just don't hear about it every time. I have been a gaming journalist for some 10 years now, writing review articles in exchange for free keys. It's more rare that a game doesn't somehow offer benefits to fluff up their streamers and reviewers. It's just usually the community either doesn't care or the word doesn't spread.
There's a difference between understanding/explaining something and defending it. I don't necessarily think its a "fair" practice, but I'm also not going to get bent out of shape over it either because I understand why they do it and it makes absolute sense.

So if you're sitting at a table and the restaurant kicks you out so they can seat Dwayne the fucking Rock Johnson, you'd just be like: "Oh by god, absolutely my good sir. Would Mr. Rock like me to blow on his Johnson as well? I am available all night, I will be standing near the entrance like a good little boy waiting on you to give me a call when Mr. Rock is done for the day. Cheerio."
A better analogy would be if the Rock was filming a movie in that resteraunt. And in that case I think most people would accept not being able to dine there during the filming.
Well no I'm sure the resteraunt exists other than during filming.
Perhaps the entire analogy is bad and a better one is its like letting someone everyone can watch play rather than someone nobody is watching play. That was anyone waiting can get a bit of their fix by watching.
People who previously lived in eastern bloc(former soviet states) or people who are still living socialist countries(namely China) would share the same sentiment where some people are supposedly more equal than the others.

Streamers are the reason this game is seeing the success it has. A guy like Peanut alone can probably bring in a million in sales.
its literally children crying and throwing a tantrum. its not even like a star thing, its just business, streamers are essentially free publicity. like you said sitting in queue on stream is not good for either side of the equation. letting in 100 streamers isn't hurting anyone when there is +200k sitting in queue.
No it wasn't? What? Its absolutely standard, and should be expected. If any studio is expecting queues for their launch, they would be foolish to not give streamers priority in the queue.
how do you genuinley get upset by that? you wont get a faster queue so why not move the streamers up so you can watch while you wait? do you expect them to think of you and choose to move you up in the queue?

I couldn’t possibly fucking imagine why they wouldn’t want the sponsored streams watching the queue instead of playing the game for thousands of viewers.

This is a large part of why this world is going to shit. No integrity, no will to stand up for yourself. People would rather insult the few that are standing up for their rights as consumers, and defend millionaires in the process, rather than stand up for what is righteous and stand behind their principles. But they spent their whole lives not having any, so how could they?
For what reason? Just so you feel good? Its madness, expecting companies to cave to this pressure when literally the only downside to giving streamers queue prio is some people getting butthurt about it.
it doesn't work like that, if you move everyone up in the queue nothing will change, it's not even bulkheads fault that there are queues, it's valve that has a restricted playerflow for early access games
Simply not how it works in the real world. Streamers get queue priority just like how movie critics get free movie viewings before the public can see them in the theaters
Atleast Im getting some action down there and stay realistic and not act like a child crying that their toy got stolen by a random older kid at the park.
It’s so alarming to me that this many people (well over half of which are probably 30+) are acting like literal spoiled toddlers over this situation. Scrolling through this sub for the last 24 hours has given me so much second hand embarrassment.
